I don't know anything about this but the staff looks promising.

This is gay shit, right?

Makes sense that it's Noitamina, this is so out of fucking nowhere. Looking forward to it, I heard good things about the manga, but of course never go to reading it.

>Free's director
>Doukyusei's designer
Yes.

did somebody say banana?

>Hiroko Utsumi
O

>19 volumes shojo manga from the 80s-90s getting adapted
Seriously unexpected but I'm looking forwards to it.

Will Utsumi prove to be an actually competent director this time? Free wasn't too good.

It'll be the gayest shit of 2018. and AOTY

I assume it's going to be 12-13 episodes though, is that enough? Or it could be 2 cours if the Kabaneri sequel ends up being a movie.

They'd better change that ending

My fucking boy Hiroko.

Can't wait.

Free isn't gay though unless you're insecure.

Free S2 was better, so she can learn from her mistakes at least.
Banana Fish is pretty good too.

Yeah, that ending was too much, but I doubt they'll change it unfortunately

Utsumi is a woman

>Hiroko
>boy

THANK YOU JAPAN

BTW, will there be a manga re-print in English? I'm short of several volumes because of the price barrier.

If this doesn't get OP song by MELT-BANANA I'll consider it a failure.

The gender is irrelevant alright.

This person did good work on Free and that's all that matters.

Yeah, I've heard this manga's good. Hopefully, having a source to work from will lead Utsumi in the right direction.

>assuming gender

>rape, sexual abuse, child abuse
Yep, sounds like typical yaoi trash.

I want to have high hopes, but
>MAPPA
>Noitamina
They will ruin it somehow, both have been absolutely terrible lately.

Utsumi is great but I liked Free! S1 more than S2. She didn't work on the movie as director, right? (That's why it sucked)

>Crime series without rape/abuse
Get out, pleb.

> I assume it's going to be 12-13 episodes though, is that enough?
By any means no. With some decent streamlining they could tell the story in two-cour series but even that would really depend on how they would restructured the story. I'm looking forward to this, since the manga is really good. Just hoping that they won't fuck it up like others did with Kiseijuu adaptation, which was a disaster. Rather than streamlining the story so it would comfortably fit within 24 episodes they were so afraid to exclude any iconic scene from the manga that they just cut out random stuff which lead to complete butchering of the original. I hope this BANANA FISH adaptation will show great respect for the original but won't be afraid to change stuff to make it more suitable for the format and allocated time frame which hopefully will be at least two-cour.

Is this bl?

No, it's shoujo.

>Being insecure is a prerequisite to being gay
Glad we cleared that up

Yes.

To be honest, the more I look at it, the more it seems that Kabaneri sequel will be a film and this will end up being 2 cours. The last 2 cour Noitamina show was in 2014 and they will probably finally do a 2 cour show again.

Ah my other hated genre

The movie was significantly better than the series and proof Utsumi can't compare as a director to the studio greats like Takemoto and Yamada.

>It'll be the gayest shit of 2018

That's not Citrus

>main character was based on River Phoenix
He's a hottie. Excellent choice. Too bad he's half Jew. And dead.

This is manly shoujo for men, though. It has violence, drugs, blood, action, male cast and no romance shit, no bubbles, no flowers.

> shoujo
> genre
Here's your reply, fool.

That's not Devilman

What is a filthy casual like you doing on this blue and patrician board?

>Yoshida, while adhering to the conventions of girls' comics in her emphasis on gay male love, made this possible by eschewing flowers and bug eyes in favor of tight bold strokes, action scenes, and speed lines.
>her emphasis on gay male love
MAPPA may as well just rename their studio "we like homos".

They are truly the most progressive studio,

>This is manly shoujo for men, though. It has violence, drugs, blood, action, male cast and no romance shit, no bubbles, no flowers.

Good female characters as well?

>we like homos
That's not specific to MAPPA. I'm pretty sure 90-95% of studios active these days made at least one homo work at some point. Do you have any sort of prejudice against lesbians and gays in cartoons?

>Shoukoku no Altair
>Garo: Vanishing Line
>Inuyashiki
>Yuri on Ice Movie
>Ikuhara project
>Banana Fish
What am I missing?

There's barely any females iirc
It's been a lot time since I read it but I only remember one female character, some guy's wife, and she gets raped or some shit

Kakegurui

BahaSoul S2.

Shoujo crime manga with heavy homoerotic undertone

>There's barely any females iirc
>It's been a lot time since I read it but I only remember one female character, some guy's wife, and she gets raped or some shit

Yup, definitely for females where they can see their own gender be useless

HOLY SHIT. Based NoitaminA. Are they adapting the whole thing?

Make it anime-original end pls

Why are you butthurt?

Posts like this are why I refuse to watch this anime.

...

>some faggot on a tongan hairdressing forum says something about women
>welp better skip this anime

There's also Shorter Wong's sister sleeping with older white men.

gay shit is killing anime

Did he bang the nurses?

Already trending on Twitter.

This is the power of banana!

I should read the manga first right? I've been meaning to and I don't think my first experience with this should be fucking Utsumi.

Here's your
>(You)

No, but I have prejudice against you, tripfag.

No but he bangs some old men and gets raped in prison

Yes, if possible read it.

Someone give me a non-tripshit opinion please.
Also welcome to my filter.

Oh fuck, I remember seeing ads for this attached at the back of volumes of fucking Conan and Yugioh and shit back in the day.

>Also welcome to my filter
I do not care for you or your opinion.

It's a nice youth crime drama in 80-90s aesthetics.

The MC some times felt too OP for me, the ending was rage, but overall I found it to be a nice read.

>he bangs
The MC is a former sex pet of a bald, fat mafioso. The direction of action is off in your sentence.

Will they keep the blackface?

Holy shit, this is great.

>utsumi
>MAPPA
So she did leave kyoanus, huh?

They're making an Ikuni animu as well, it's going to have some kind of homo in it.

Punchline was pretty gay, or are we just talking about what Mappa's pushing out?

They made that idol show in spring too

A long time ago dude

This has been known for a while, dumb nigger.

I would recommend reading it but only if you're okay with shitty endings.

That's over.

I thought it was just rumoured until now (since she didn't direct the free! film)?

She's been doing freelance work. AD/KA on a YuGiOh movie, stuff for BONES, etc.

Oh yes

Holy shit no fucking way

That scene made me laugh.

What the fuck. Banana Fish ended 30 years ago.

Pluto

They honestly better keep it in the 80s era.

Akimi Yoshida is honestly, my favorite mangaka.
I wish they'd adapt more of her works to anime.

>if the Kabaneri sequel ends up being a movie.
what has kabaneri got to do with it?

They probably have one or two more projects that haven't been announced yet

Not that guy but both are noitamina shows, I guess

I don't want them to change anything except for the ending which was absolute bullshit.

Fucking great.

Kabaneri is probably getting delayed, Wit hasn't said a peep in months and the compilation movies bombed too

Dummy

spoil me user

Wit has been recently busy with the Mahoutsukai no Yome project and the next cour of Attack on Titan is slated for 2018 (winter, I believe). They have a limited capacity.

>the compilation movies bombed too
In ticket sales?
