I feel sad for studios whose anime airs in winter.

I sure hope they don't release the entire 2-cour in one night
jew niggers

Looks boring, pass

>I sure hope they don't release the entire 2-cour in one night
It's Japanese Netflix, and no, they release weekly. US Netflix won't get it for ages I'd imagine.

Wait, is this what the sakugafags were claiming will be the best animated anime ever? It looks so lame.

It is more a traditional issue with KyoAni not able to make appealing trailers/marketing. The story is actually good. Though making good trailer likely invoke much spoilers - its probably good that peoples impression of VEG is very vague now: since reaction when it actually airs and story develops will be much larger.

>2-cour
Source for that claim?

The show's international release is coming a whole season after the initial Japanese broadcast.

Can't wait for the inevitable Hollywood adaption of this show.

But who cares about inferior studios when we have based GodAni, also known as best studio in existence?

Ishidate is Hollywood fag already, so VEG is already Kino. He never wanted to work on anime, its just coudnt find a job in cinema industry.

>KyoAnusfag delusion

Thought so.

>implying you wouldn't pirate it anyway

Please tell me this is about a veteran that lost her hands during the war, suffers from PTSD and is trying to reconnect with former comrades.

First character you`ll encounter in VEG is drugaddict scriptwriter named Oscar. Thats how high they aim.

KyoAni will sanitise every heavy issue away and replace it with soap opera melodrama, like they always do.

So, if Violet is not a robot, why do they call her a "weapon" and a "secret" and how come she is so strong? Genetically engineered? Synthetic human like the Replicants? Or what?

I remember someone claiming in the novel she leaps over a lake. How can a human do that? Who is actually lying here?

Well, I mean, if the Netflix subs for LWA are anything to go by, they're kinda shit (not just the TL but timing and everything else), so yeah. Might as well watch it while it's actually airing and hope for better subs.

No, it is about an artificial human being of unknown origin found during war by a veteran soldier and made into war murder machine. She lost hands during war and the soldier that found her died as well, and she is given to his other soldier friend with PTSD with his will being to let her live peacefully.

Too bad she is emotionless murder robot and does not know what living normally is, so is being sent to special escort agency to work as on demand secretary. Despite being emotionless murder robot, her actual mentality is rather of the 14yo child at best. And so she goes on a journey encoutnering different people with their emotions reflecting in her, so she`d learn about them little by little.

War is over, but impacts of it not fully. Violet learns not just good emotions, but also aids the centenced war criminal terrorist preaching her ideology to her while on death row, gets involved in archeologic expedition to find ancient technology, remnants of rape sacrafice cult she slaugthered her way through once, etc etc.

She will for sure become more humane as time goes. But is she actually human?

No one knows what she is. She possesses super power and speed, she does not age, does not have normal emotion. However she is not a robot, and has body of flesh and blood.

There are some hints here and there, but still no clear idea what she is - well, least i didnt read vol 2 to know if its revealed there.

Thanks user I appreciate it but guess I'll pass on this show.

日本人ですか?

This one looks better: youtube.com/watch?v=0CJeDetA45Q
We'll see. At least it doesn't seem to be as shitty as Castlevania.

Stop talking shit about my wife Violet, she is delicate, fragile and not a murderer.

That one is an ad for the novel.

To be honest, its the work where novel is too good that there is a risk KyoAni will actually slaugther it. Since it is quite heavy at times, and KyoAni has tendency to tone stuff down.

It shoudnt be story of romantic travel of secretary girl, but soul crushing circumstances and emotions of people around. It dramatic impacts are like torturer putting one nail after another in the back of your head. And from different perspectives - drug addict writer that lost everything, a spoiled child, young soldier, nazi ideologist that lost war etc.

Its not Kino`s Journey where reader is observer like Kino. In VEG you are supposed to identify with the characters she encounters, rather than her.

Ah, then I'm not hyped about the anime.
There's very nice backgrounds, beautifully drawn characters, but that's about it. There's no cool camera movements, most of it has no depth and it looks like a side scroller.
I hope the money shots look better.

You have weird tastes in animation to be quite frank. The constant camera movement in that ad clip is annoying and serves no purpose.

You are trying a bit too hard here, this level of shilling is just ashaming. Hope you'll get your Kyoani event ticket as a reward though.

how much of this show is going to be lesbian undertones?

None of it.

>She possesses superhuman power and speed

This is true.

>She does not age

This is not true. She's just a little girl when Gilbert's brother finds her. She grows into a teenager and then an adult over the next few years.

>does not have normal human emotion

This is a consequence of her upbringing rather than something inherent to her character. She was a feral child on a deserted island who ended up getting processed into a weapon and only gained a semblance of humanity after a tremendous amount of effort from a compassionate and trustworthy man.

Also, you didn't touch on the most abnormal thing about Violet, which is how she looks. The first thing that strikes pretty much everyone who encounters her is that she's beautiful beyond compare. I would be very surprised if her physical appearance, which, more than anything else, is what makes her special, was the product of natural genetic coincidence and not directly tied to what she really is.

She doesn't jump over a lake. What does happen is that she manages to run on the surface of a lake for a few steps before falling in. The reason this happens is because her client at the time asked her to try and do so for the sake of artistic inspiration.

How good it is compared to Nutsume Soseiki's?

pic related

This is going to flop harder than flop dragon

The only good thing that'll come out of this is Evan Call's soundtrack.

It's Natsume Souseki, and he looks pretty manly for a Japanese. I imagine it pales in comparison to his work.

What happened to her left hand?

She's literally Saber.

Saber is mature. Violet is childish.

>Saber is mature
Chuunibyoutards everyone.

>Kyoani decides to add new characters and change parts of the story.

Did your brain melt?

It seems very promising, I am really looking forward to.

It sounds pretty interesting but with this idea about a robot it completely turns me off, I'm glad you are enjoying user I hope they don't butcher it.

She's not a robot.

Why didn't they bother designing a proper logo for this?

Wait, they did. They aren't using it for the anime for some reason.

Going by stuff posted upthread she is clearly not altogether human either. This actually assuaged my worries about her 'settei'.

Logos suck.

aoty 2018 already

Graphic design is cancerous.

>Saber is mature.
I laughed so hard.

I'm a bit disappointed with the direction the story goes. I thought this was going to be a simple period piece drama about a regular robot girl. It looks good regardless though

Doesn't really look like my thing, but I've thought the same about Hibike and Maidragon and ended up liking both. KyoAni finds a way etc.

ultimatemegabetax hates kyoani because they work with Netflix now.

>all fluff and no substance
I'm not seeing the appeal?

What is substance?

Who gives a shit?

Why do people like you even post? Plain bait? Genuine idiocy? Ingenuine ignorance?

Crunchyroll does, because they lost to Netflix.

Just ignore them.

I'm so hype for this. It win the grandprix award from the contest. It must be the best story ever.

>Ishidate is Hollywood fag already, so VEG is already Kino. He never wanted to work on anime, its just coudnt find a job in cinema industry.

Or he likes to combine his 2 passions

No, he actually never intended to work in Anime. He applied for every TV/Cinema job in Japan, but at time was unlucky so had to accept slave work as animator in KyoAni to pay the bills.

Why are you twisting it so hard?
>Ishidate: It might be a long story. (laughing) I originally liked animation. But as I grew into adolescence, I was trapped inside this atmosphere, which was rooted in this commonly-held belief that animation was mostly for children, so I gradually stopped watching animation. Even so, I still liked movies overall. I hoped that I would get a job at a company which produced live-action TV and film. I applied for many companies, but failed those interviews, which made me think that the live action field did not suit me. Then, it occurred to me that an animation production company could be an option, where I could take advantage of my skill at drawing, which I had developed since childhood. Not only that, but I'd still be making films, which I was hoping to do. The decision has led me here.

This. Probably Charles Dickens / Oscar Wilde tier, no less.

>i watched Doraemon as 8yo kid
>means i wanted to make anime
nope

Theres ANN report (yeah, i know) at EP 1 and 2 premier.

animenewsnetwork.com/feature/2017-10-23/premiere-report-violet-evergarden-episodes-1-2/.123078

Based GodAni. They made his childhood dreams come true.

He kind of sucks at movies, though. KnK TV was better than Mirai-hen.

>Early details from Anime Expo and AnimagiC spoke about the quality of the animation and it's no lie: Violet Evergarden is one of the most visually stunning TV series produced by any company.

No wonder. They got Netflix money. Had they only sold it to Crunchyroll, it would look like crap.

As expected from the best studio in existence. Other studios should commit sudoku, they're irrelevant anymore.

They did not get Netflix money. Its not a production spearheaded by Netflix. Its KyoAni work in progress since 2014, they made it and hold all rights at it and from begining aim to worldwide distribution and simulcast in 7 languages. This is where Netflix comes, just as one of multiple distribution platforms involved.

Netflix shows would be likes of Kuromukuro, Sidonia etc, where they actually paid for them and got exclusive rights.

As soon as Americans wake up, thread gets filled up with shitposting. Is anyone surprised at this point?

Japanese reactions
>1 minute of VEG has as much effort put in it in production as 500 minutes of other anime
>She looks like Saber!
>Kyoani Highest!
>Fuck Netflix!
>Delaying suicide to be able to watch VEG.
>To say the least, it was awesome. Personal record for KyoAni.
>Koyasu voice is cool!
>Looks like shit. (Yamakan)

Seems legit.

Only Netflix could finance something as awesome as Violet Evergarden.

>she is not a robot
>“Auto Memories Doll.” It’s already been a long time since that name was first popularized. It’s a machine that Dr. Orlando created that talks in a natural voice. At first, he only made it to help out his loving wife, but before long they spread out into the world. and companies were made to lend them out.

So, which is it?

Why is Dio in Violet Evergarden?

>These first two episodes are setting the beginning for Violet's growth. Having lost her previous path in life and unacquainted with the world itself, she's hunting for something she wants to do and to solve the mystery of the last words she heard from a very important person to her. That leads her to becoming an Auto Memories Doll, essentially a person who dictates letters for people.

Its author`s misderection to troll reader, its revealed in first ark already.

Their world technology cant produce proper robots, despite being able to make robotic proteses. Oscar (and reader) only believes that bullshit, since he lived for years alone while consuming heavy drugs so though "wow, technology advanced that far!"

Violet isnt human, but not machine - except genetically engenered one maybe.

It was originally a transcription machine that could be rented out but later had its concept co-opted using real people.

>a person who dictates letters for people.
Is that guy ESL?

Apparently that article was written by ultimatemegax. So not ESL. Just retarded.

What's wrong with it?

So is that General guy going to be her love interest? I thought he was just supposed to be her father figure and I heard shit like Violet having a lesbian girlfriend who she saved from a rape island.

Yes, yes, no, and no.

>this much hype and marketing
why do i feel like this will be mediocre and more about the visuals than the actual storytelling aspect. especially with its obscure ass plotline from what we can see so far

t. ESL

So he was a father figure to her first then suddenly develops romantic feelings for her? I'm cool with that I guess. The rape island thing is garbage though but I figured out it might just be /u/fags shitposting.

Rape island happens, Violet rescues pic related from the cult urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tea friend

Pretty much. They were referring to Lux, who was revered as a demigod on a religious island before being rescued by Violet. Then she became Violet's first tea friend.

>Japanese reactions
>Delaying suicide to be able to watch VEG.

Typical Japanese.

>one definition
>1 upvote and 3 downvotes

>why do i feel like this will be mediocre and more about the visuals than the actual storytelling aspect. especially with its obscure ass plotline from what we can see so far
YEP. Pretty much.

>She's a robot
>No wait, She's a doll
>No no wait, She's a human with doll personality
>No no no wait, She's super solder who doesn't understand love with prosthetic arms
>And so on, and so on
I'm not surprised if this shit is flop harder than Nichijou.

It wasnt a joke, thats the liberal translation of twitter post which was more like "i am still living. So that i could watch VEG."

>EOP arguing about untranslated LN
