I do 100 crunches, pushups, and squats in 2 sets of 50 during the weekdays. While I do not seek to get /fit/, I wish to remain healthy. How much impact does this actually have? I get plenty of sleep and eat proper.

You simply got to a point where you wanted more in life than just gains or weight loss. I also had a year in my life where I trained and lost weight aggressively. I still try to be fit and active, but it's not the only thing in the world anymore.

I was like you, I joined the Army and could barely run a mile before I would end up puking. Easiest thing to do was run when I woke up, only drink water 8hrs before running, and keep a steady pace instead of trying to do it as fast as possible.

Is this really the only important thing to you, user? What if you had to comfort a family member, or had to solve a complex problem that would drain all of your mental and emotional capacity? Would the answer always be lifting and getting stronger.

Isn't any repetitive, comforting action just jacking off under a different name? You spend your energy, you feel better, you may improve your health along the way, and you hate yourself half an hour later. Unless you just did it for the pain like I did.

Don't do it to get stronger. Do it to get healthier. I was away from the gym for years until the doctor said my obesity is getting dangerous. I'm now hitting the gym and I have been losing weight and even though I'm still a long way from building up muscle I feel a lot better.

I tend to go a bit wider than shoulder width for more chest development, but on the bright side if your upper body is really that weak then there's only gains to be made.

Any kind of consistent workout should give you results honestly. And if you can only do one then just do sets of one till you can do 2, then do that etc..

Just do it like you always did and problem solved. As long as you're burning energy and fat the muscle pains will come by themselves. I'm about to start now btw.
