That already happened though. Miura isn't an edgy youngster anymore looking for shock that kind of shock value. He's riding out and milking the berserk train's incredible success. Both Miura and Guts are older. He's been writing Gut's story for years and years, decades, even, and honestly, Guts has a party now, he has a family, and I think a lot of people want to see a happy ending. Want to see Him and Casca happy. See Schierke and Isidoro and the gang all living like family maybe, even.
tl:dr Because the Abyss already happened, and Guts is tragic enough already.
