What would you say is the most disappointing anime of 2017 that was expected to be great?

What would you say is the most disappointing anime of 2017 that was expected to be great?

Virgin Soul

How would it be the most disappointing anime if it hadn't been expected to be great?

Made in Abyss. Went from grand adventure to chibi gore porn

Well, you can watch an anime and say it was rather disappointing.

or then you can expect an anime to be amazing only for it to not be..

>disappointment - a feeling of dissatisfaction that results when your expectations are not realized
Without expectations, there is no disappointment.

Clockwork Planet.
After reading the manga I expected the anime to great when it was announced
When the first art was released, expectations where reduced to it just being good.
Then Xebec was announced to be the studio responsible, and expectations plummeted.

Somehow they still managed to disappoint me.

This.

Re:Creators.

>expecting anything from Aoki after A/Z
It went better than expected, if anything

These. Abysmal miscreations.

Aoki actually improved some things here and there. Hiroe is the one who came up with the mediocre writing.

Was Brave Witches this year?

Nobody remembers Kado?

Kado was certainly a huge trainwreck but I don't think many people expected much from it going in.
It just betrayed the "pleasant surprise" feeling 9 episodes in.

Seikaisuru Kado, how is it even a question?
You can pinpoint the EXACT moment it went from promising and fresh to total shit.

>Kado, Virgin Soul and Arc-V ended in the same year
Is there a more disappointing year than 2017?

I guess it depends on where the line you draw is for "expected". If you had to expect the show to be great before it started airing, then sure, Kado wouldn't apply. But from the first few episodes people loved it, so it's no incorrect to say the fans were expecting the ending to be great, only to be massively disappointed.

This season is single-handedly saving 2017.

>Made in Abyss. Went from grand adventure to chibi gore porn
This. Manga was also disappointing. The whole part with Bondrewd felt really forced. It's such a shame because Tsukushi did a great job at building that world, just look at the map of the Abyss. The Abyss really sparks your imagination, I think more time should have been spent exploring the Abyss slowly venturing deeper into the unknown. Instead we got Elfen Lied tier fetish pandering.

Seconded, came to post this.
Making aliens cry is a sin. And so is cucking them.

But blowing them up is okay, yes?

NO

Came here to say this.

I'd say Dies irae, but I never expected it to be a great adaptation honestly. It's still the worst adaptation with the most squandered potential in anime this year.

Funny, I see it the other way around. Started good, only became better.

Little Witch Academia
Rakugo S2
Uchouten Kazoku S2
Ancient Magus Bride
Welcome to the Ballroom
Princess Principal

Honestly the source material sounds like the edgiest shit ever.
Not that this is necessarily a bad thing.

Classroom of the Elite

Interesting MC and concept that never went anywhere.

Rakugo season 2 was hot garbage all around, absolutely disgraceful.

>Uchouten Kazoku S2
Explain.
