Most of the OSTs I was going to post are already in the OP image. However, Najica wasn't the best anime (unless you were watching for the hilarity of it all) but it had a damn good OST.
I just found it online. I take zero credit.
For anime I like comfy OSTs, so far Maidragon is my OSTOTY
This is my favorite.
youtube.com
It's so fucking hype.
Most of the soundtrack is memorable, actually.
I met the producer for meitantei conan years ago at an anime convention. No one else but me was like "shinjitsu wa itsumo hitotsu!". He said it with me out loud. Good times.

Is FLCL cheating?
Nope
I used to be a janitor for this huge aerospace company and I would listen to the NHK ost on repeat some nights when no one was around. It was just me, a cart of cleaning supplies and a dirty bathroom with anime music in the background. yeah...
>listen to the OST before watching
>stumble across this particular track youtube.com
>wonder just how the fuck they'll use a funky wild west chant
>they just use the first minute as a tension builder and never use the second half
>Haruhi movie but not main show
That's weird, the soundtrack of it is fucking great and varied, even if someone doesn't really dig the show I'd recommend it for the soundtrack alone.

I also find it really weird how underrated the shows soundtrack is on here, honestly the movie is nothing special compared to the show soundtrack. There's only a couple on the movie soundtrack that really stand out to me, but the show soundtrack might be my favorite of all time. Especially Season 2.
>youtu.be
Yeah this may be my favourite from season 1.
youtu.be
At around 13:50 is my favourite from season 2, Itsumono Bushitsu de.
Indeed, the movie has some good tracks but the production and sheer variety of the show's OST is amazing, tons and tons of standout tracks

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
I made it maybe over 5 years ago. It was the "final" result of a long thread where people suggested adding and removing a lot of stuff. Something like this is never going to be definitively over as good soundtracks keep coming out every season.
Something about this just struck incredibly hard when it played at the end of S1. It fit the scene perfectly. Taniuchi is great.
Aoi Bungaku is really good, but I haven't found the OST anywhere.

It happens. Sometimes a soundtrack is just ordered, still with guidelines obviously, and the director and composer don't really do any collaborative work.
Then the director goes on with what was provided and uses it as he sees would work best.
Shame that the Kekkai Sensen ost went mostly unnoticed because of the ED

Yuuki Yuunas OST is god tier
Thank you. Wait...same artist that did nier replicant ost?
>several Gundams in the OP image
>not Zeta or ZZ
Yes
all of his OST's are 10/10

Madoka's my favorite Kajiura OST.
No freaking way. I guessed that too. Amazing.
I totally got Yoko Kanno vibes from the Made in Abyss OST. Some tracks really reminded me of some of Kanno's in Zankyou no Terror. Really great stuff, I've been listening to the MiA OST on loop since it was released a couple weeks ago.
Made in Abyss has one of the best OST ever made youtu.be
I also really liked Kajiura's work on Princess Principal

I regularly go back to listen to the Trinity Seven soundtrack.

how the fuck does this shit work, it's the same fucking company running both
Still, sounds like a pretty comfy soundtrack, and I agree Najica was really silly.

Madoka may not be my favourite Kajiura's OST, but it has my favourite Kajiura's track.
Cool it faggots, it's good but hardly one of the greatest. It does sound a little Kanno-ish but listening to it with that in mind only makes it feel like a pale imitation. I'd say it's a 7/10 overall; good but sort of forgettable. Even the vocal tracks are quite good but again, sort of forgettable. I guess what the album needed was stronger melodies.
I really don't get where this jerking off over MiA's soundtrack is coming from.
Megazone 23 has God tier ost.
I wouldn't say it's the greatest, but it definitely perfectly capture the tone and beauty of Made in Abyss.

Some highlights although I vastly prefer listening to whole albums. Out of those only Abenobashi is weak as an album, though its Main Theme is solid.
> Shame that the Kekkai Sensen ost went mostly unnoticed
What are you on about, user? It was pretty popular and talked about OST. It made rounds in the industry and was very highly regarded. That's one of reasons why Iwasaki Taisei got quite a lot of backing and freedom with creating OST for the second season.
We should have a discussion recapping every year once the new comes around but each time I make an OST thread it dies after few posts.
Aoyama-kun had some amazing OST but this one is the highlight. That fucking chanting gives me chills the first time I listen to it.
