Poverty is the basic state of humanity. Capitalism is the system that eliminates the most poverty. It is not a perfect system, so it cannot eliminate all poverty, but it eliminates MOST poverty for MOST people.
There will always be people who are stupid, or lazy, or disabled. The law of nature says that these people, who cannot provide for themselves, die. Capitalism at least makes room for charity so that those who can provide for themselves and other MAY, should they wish it, give some of what they earned to another.
Socialism, on the other hand, glorifies the poverty stricken, subsidizes them and makes more of them, while punishing those that produce. This is why the first thing that happens in communism is that those who can work are enslaved, and the second thing that happens is that those who cannot are purged.
