The question remains that there is a dead man in a cleaned safehouse run by the SIS and that is not something that is easily known to everyone.
The fact remains that there is no way to claim that it was a "RUSSIAN HIT" if it was in a UK SIS SAFEHOUSE FOR UK SPIES .

he was living in government owned accommodation while seconded to MI6 in London... his regular employer GCHQ isn't based in London so if he's been sent to work with another agency, in another part of the UK then they'll provide him with accommodation since London is expensive and he'd have been earning a civil servant's wage
