The BBC is required to be a broadly autonomous, independent journalistic outlet.
In practice, they're biased to whichever political party is in power. For example, from 1997 to 2010, I noticed that their reporting was extremely sympathetic to the Labour Party, offering little alternative viewpoints from other people and parties about a policy, for instance. The same is now happening with the Conservatives in power - if you look at British articles, they do seem again to be sympathetic to them. I'm assuming they do this to try suck up to whoever is in power so that they don't have their funding removed by, say, abolishing the archaic TV licensing nonsense we have here.
However, the BBC is also extremely left-wing, notable in both the content it produces and the people that work there. They have job offers that only BAME people can apply for, do features on absolute nonsense SJW shit, etc etc.
