Conservatives have ceded the moral high ground on every issue because they have no strong philosophical foundation for individual liberty.
Both conservatives and progressives believe that there is virtue in weakness and it must be protected, and that the group (by whatever name you call it) is more important than the individual. Self sacrifice is considered noble by both.
So long as that remains the case, conservatives will lose the moral argument against socialism and progressivism. If you think it's noble to help people in need, then why not let the government help people in need? Just making an efficiency argument won't work against a moral argument over the long run.
Another big part of the problem is that women now vote, and women have shown no interest at all in learning about politics, economics, or anything remotely grounded in reality. Society is becoming more feminized and now most young men are just as ignorant.
Tl;DR voters are becoming less informed, and less informed people will always vote for the more "moral" option that they think is just, even if it doesn't work. Until conservatism can make a credible claim that it is WRONG to put the group ahead of the individual, they will lose over and over again.

I was with you up to this point. Individualism doesn't work when you're up against a (((collectivist adversary))), and the best way to fight back is to organize and out group needs ahead of individual needs.
It's intent that matters, not necessarily the means of forming a collective identity.

Just because you put the individual ahead of the group doesn't mean you can't work with allies. I don't know why that's hard for people to grasp. If we both believe that, for example, no one can restrict speech - even if 99 people demand 1 person do it, that 1 person can't have his rights taken away - then we can both fight for that ideal.
There's nothing to stop individuals from working together. You don't have to sacrifice your identity when you work on a team.

No moral argument, but you could go for argument that no one has rights to force his moral views to another person and well, it's true humans are selfish and strive for their own progress. Although humans are social beings and need each other for survival, bonds don't have to be strong. Decline of relationships? Maybe on a higher scale, but for everyday social relations would remain the same. It is better than forcing fake feelings for city, country, continent, race etc.

The moral case for individual freedom and capitalism has already been made.
Your life belongs to you, and getting the most out of it should be the purpose of that life. No one can take it away from you, and the happiness of others doesn't trump your own. So long as you don't obstruct other people no person can infringe upon your own freedom.
