Fascism preaches that the individual needs to strive to improve him/her self. Not as a mere vanity for their own sake: "I want to ripped for tinder picks" but for the collective: "I need to be fit so I can defend my people".
It does not seek to deny the individual his/her rewards for being better. It seeks to reward excellence of the individual for it is trough the excellence of the individual that the collective is improved.
In a way it is the individuals best friend as it encourages us to self improve and strive for excellence. Not merely sink into the desire of our individual pleasure.
