Times where the anime adaptation was better than the source material

I'll start with an obvious one

First season was anyway.

I'm not kidding. Fight me.

pic unrelated?
The CCS manga doesn't have extra made up characters or filler or a cut ending that took 17 years until it was animated.

Scanlation never

>talking shit about Meilin

Easy, the manga is shit

Almost anything based off an LN.

fma 04, op

maybe I'm a sucker for music and colors but the majority of the time I enjoy the anime more then the manga, even when I've read the manga first.

Rurouni Kenshin Trust and Betrayal is much better than the manga chapters it adapts.

...

>Anime adds worst character

Meh, the manga is different enough from the first anime that I'd say one needs to experience both.

...

HxH 1999

...

I don't disagree, but the anime is still way better. If the manga had the character development of the anime, or the anime added all the scope of the manga's plot, it would be fucking brilliant.

I love the source material. That said, while the adaptation makes a few errors that cause the ending to feel weird, being able to get everything that matters in a third of the time it takes to play the vn makes it superior.

...

Well, as far as the anime got anyways. Manga was in serious need of an editor.

I think the anime is miles above the manga on that one.

I haven't read the VN but the anime was confusing. Especially the part where Tomoya went back in time and shit. There was zero explanation for that in the anime.

Real talk Kenshin manga wasn't that good to begin with. I can't even reread it because of the art.

Is this even really an anime? isn't this just a live action adaptation that was drawn over?

...

Every hentai

Only Phantom Blood.

id agree if we had more than four episodes

this

H-hai.

CCS had an ending, a much better one than the manga. Nothing a best last boss

Mmmm, kaiji the show was great but it suffered from a lack of variety and being constantly reminded that it’s effectively just a commercial for the movie.

If it had more of the games and didn’t focus for so long on the bog it would be better.

What was wrong with that adaptation of battle tendency?

More varied stories and they actually kiss at the end.

...

should have been a live action to be honest

Not him but probably nothing but Phantom Blood is kinda boring by itself.
Hell, I'd say the anime was even very boring in the middle.

Kyoani magic.
Shame about the second season of Chuu2 though.

>anime adds best character
and?

...

The explanation is that Tomoya didn't go back in time, when he died he went to the illusionary world with Ushio and because he helped so many people he collected lights which grant wishes (For example helping Fuko get people to come to her sister's wedding) and because he collected so many lights Ushio was able to create a new world where Nagisa didn't get sick

I agree that it's quite poorly explained in the anime if you aren't paying a lot of attention to what's said in the illusionary world sections

>trash pacing
>no Bondrewd arc
Yeah, no.

...

Yo, why did Sakura's dad call her 'Sakura-san' like she's his co-worker or some shit?

It's called respect. Something this generation doesn't know about.

Lol, fuck off. Does your mother call you "Mr. user"?

Phantom Blood anime was shit, they cut off lot of good material from the manga.
Also the artstyle was garbage.
JoJo anime is shit in general, to be honest.
Just read the manga.

...

Thank you for proving his point.

Even the author agreed that the OVA handled Tomoe much better than he did. In the manga, she was just an emotionless Rei clone. The OVA made the twist that she was the traitor more obvious, but actually gave her a character. I especially loved how the OVA had her scar Kenshin on purpose rather than on accident, too.

I know plenty about respect, I just don't care to give it to smug, superior fags on the internet.

You prefer the manga artsyle of early jojo? That wasn't even so much an artstyle but rather a lack of understanding the anatomy

Initial D by far.

>Manga only has two volumes out when it gets picked up for an adaptation
>Author tells the studio to not even bother trying to adapt the story since there was nothing to work with, and to just do whatever they want with it
>They do whatever they want with it
>They shove characters and concepts from the author's old porn doujins in there because why the fuck not?

...

This is one of the things the anime fails at explaining: Sakura's dad is one half of Clow's reincarnation along with Eriol. Since Clow saw Sakura in his vision of the future and called her Sakura-san, his reincarnations both call her Sakura-san too.

...

I never really cared much for the actual plot of Full Metal Panic and liked the fish-out-of-water high school comedy aspect more, so this was great.

>mfw an actual answer

Thanks user.

youtu.be/qbMBU1tguBI?t=2m38s

It's just so fucking bleak in every aspect, goes a few steps too far to its detriment.

Early JoJo style is like Hokuto no Ken style.
It's good, unlike that mess that got animated.

This OVA was amazing in all aspects.

Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency had pretty decent adaptations so I'm not sure what you mean when you say they cut a lot of material out. The anime were probably 99% accurate to the manga and I can only think of a few minor elements that are missing from the anime -
Jonathan smoking a pipe, actually showing Danny being burned alive, and the scene with Bluto during the fight between Joseph and Straizo are the only ones that come to mind.

...

>"Commercial" for the movie is ten times better than the movie
I'm not really sure what you think should've been done differently adaptation wise. They could've cut down the bog arc with one, maybe two, episodes but that's about it.

Yeah, they didn't adapt that part very well, since it came from a VN with so many different routes.

The second season is more of an improvement on the source than the first one. At least the first novel was somewhat decent.

Scenes from the first arc like Jonathan being saved by Danny when he was a kid are missing.
Also JoJo going to Wang Chen shop, for example.
In part 2 Wired Beck was also removed.

...

try me, user

You're right about the Phantom Blood scenes so that is my mistake. However the Battle Tendency anime did have the scene with Wired Beck in it because it's necessary to explain why Joseph can't use his clackers in subsequent fights.

They actually cut some of the Bog content like Kaiji thinking about running away with Sakazaki's 6 millions
They should have kept that and made the Bog pace a bit faster to make up for it

Manga and LN was unbearable shit.

But Alien 9 didn't need 4 episodes. The summer-arc was mostly filler

Youjo Senki
Shingeki no Kyojin

just because it knew when to stop

Sakura was shit though.

Color and motion do a lot for this series, I just wish the character designs were slightly more androgynous like in the manga.

>Not pedo shit like the manga
Its great

The anime ending was so much better than the manga one.
Its a shame that the anime cut some of the spirit detective stuff at the beggining to get straight to the fighting.

>Reddit filename
>Don't like gembutts
Checks out.

I was so disapointed when I picked up a volume after watching the show.
Mind you it was over a decade ago, but it was so bland. I should give it another try one day.

There's just something about the anime version of East Blue that's super comfy. I feel like the slower pacing actually helped make small stuff like Coby a lot more emotional.

I'm going all out.

Most Dezaki adaptations

So basically he collect Dragon Ball?

Pretty much I guess

Shigurui had the potential if they had adapted everything.

should I read colored version or bw

colored probably has better translation but im torn

Can I donate for your ADHD?

...

Nothing. Both manga and anime are equally good and entertaining.

fuck the intros beyond the first one.

Also fuck Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Fuck it, spoil me. I've not watched CCS since I was like 12, was it actually any good? I remember it being pretty monster of the week and generally nothing special, but that could easily just be bad taste on the part of my younger self.

...

Most of the charm comes from Sakura being cute as fuck and the animation being really good for a 70 episodes anime, Madhouse did a great job.
I would recommend getting the BD rips if you want to rewatch it.
