Mostly jokes and extra characters. I don't think anything drastic was cut out regarding the plot, but it seems they made the episode a gimmick one to compensate for the lack of episodes in which to adapt the entire manga

Would be better with flat eyes rather than heart pupils.

Sounds like they mostly cut off the comedy to make this episode feels really different compared to the rest, adding the unexpected gimmick, I'd say they did a very good job making us feel uncomfortable, kinda like Kukuri and Nike were.

Today's episode burned through 9 chapters and could have skipped over less had they gone for the usual pacing (this wouldn't have really suited the tone of the story, though). There's about 3-4ish story arcs left and one is fairly short, so it should just barely fit.

If I had to guess how the last four episodes will go, the next one will adapt 123-130 (arrival in the new continent to battle against Raid), 22 will adapt 131-138 (Jitari Ruins to wind sword Razzle Dazzle), 23 will adapt 139-148 (journey to Giri's Castle to Giri's appearence) and 24 will adapt 149-158 (the final battle).

Well, the chapters are shorter than standard manga lenght, so it's not quite that bad. Still, three volumes in four episodes is definitely a lot, I'm sure they'll cut and rearrange whatever's necessary to avoid making it feel like a clusterfuck, I think they've been pretty successful with that so far.

I have faith in the director, he's been doing a really great job so far, but it'd be a real shame if the anime were to get worse right now after 20 episodes of almost perfection.

They could extend the length to 40 minutes.
