As a middle school teacher, I am disgusted by the idea that teachers should be trained to carry guns in the classroom. Before becoming a teacher I served as a future former marine so I have experience with guns.
That being said, even well-trained police officers have been known to shoot and kill an innocent person out of panic. What about a "gun-trained" teacher in a chaotic, terrifying, life-threatening situation whose goal is to protect his or her students? What are the chances that "training" will enable a teacher to find the target in a school of screaming, fleeing students?
We need less guns, not more. It will take a multifaceted approach and a look at what other democratic countries, like Australia and the UK, have done about gun control.
I'm a bit confused. Are people suggesting that all teachers receive firearm training and be required to carry? Or are they suggesting that we should just allow those who like their rights be allowed to receive training and carry in schools?

no, there is no plan to put a 9mm in the hands of your art teacher or the grey ponytailed birkenstock wearing granola muncher that teaches 8th grade social studies (moar like intro to communist theory)
the idea is to give CERTAIN teachers, those with the drive, inclination and pre-existing skills the opportunity to not be a redshirt in some faggots afternoon of danny phantom cosplay

So this whole "teachers with gun training" thing literally boils down to "I DON'T LIKE IT SO YOU CAN'T HAVE IT, REEEEEEEE!" ?

Would you prefer to watch your students being killed by a maniac or to be able to do something to stop the maniac? I mean you could always be disconnected from the students you teach and not care about their lives but i'm pretty sure if you feel any attachment to them you will want to do what you can to protect them.
You say you were a Marine, if that's true then you should know that for people to live in peace there must be unscrupulous men ready and willing to commit violence to keep them safe.

>Uk What is the UK knife epidemics >Australia What is Homemade illegal Australian guns.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised. That's been the anti-gunner logic for as long as I've been alive.

No one is going to stop you from disarming yourself. In fact I feel it is a great idea that people like you who are willing to give an inch on the 2A be encouraged to be disarmed. Just give up your guns and we will happily keep ours. Honestly, I feel it is our best interest that you do give up your guns. It makes it easier for us later on.
It never changes...even Marx was based on guns...and look what they did to his vision. I may hate communism, but I can see the man who co-authored the manifesto probably had good intentions.
Newfags. This is pasta. Put sage in options field before replying. OP is a massive faggot. Don't feed the trolls.

>democratic countries Thank God we are a republic. Your logic is merely anecdotal and if you don't want to have a gun then don't. That being said, other teachers* like yourself may opt for the 2nd Amendment

I believe 'future former marine is just a marine who hasn't died yet. Pretty lame attempt to fit in but not an unrealistic line.
