18, obviously, is too late. Just imagine a pianist or tennis player or race car driver only start at age 18. Impossible! You need the training from early on to be good. Soldiering is no different.
I think 12 to 14 is best. At that age kids can carry the guns and packs comfortly and they understand strategy and gun safety.

Boys should start hiking, camping, calisthenics, plinking targets and wrestling at around 12. The Boy Scouts were fine until they went soft and gay.

Are you insane? Mandating college for 3 years is an absurd waste of time and money, far too much of the population is low IQ for this to be remotely justifiable, and that's even if we exclude minorities.
