A new PV is out.
Do you guys recognise the music? It's kinda nostalgic.

Ryo is great. The updated pretty boy design suits him.

In b4 someone dislikes it that Crybaby references green Devilman.

Yeah, sounds great. Can't wait for another Masaaki masterpiece.

The song is pretty good, but I miss Ryo's sideburns.

Can't wait.

The modern audience would hate it.

why are they so l o n g?

Looks pretty gay honestly. Devilman Crybaby, more like Devilman Soyboy. I can't tell which of them is gayer, mascara Akira or fuccboi Ryo. WHERE IS THE FUCKING SHADING????

Is this bait? Have you read the original? Or are you here to spread the tofu or whatever meme?

>Looks pretty gay
Devilman is pretty gay. A man being in love with another man is one of the key points.

No, he's right. Anime truly has been estrogenated, the designs show it (gangly fujobait and prettyboy trap), the music shows it (listen and compare , the composition and singing style, which is manlier honestly), the egregious use of smartphones and the hipster too good for shading aesthetic. Truly a Yuasa show

>MANIME

0/10

This is really embarrassing and not funny.

That asschin is the worst

Let me chime in for a sec. Even though Yuasa put his stamp on this adaptation, he's still a sellout for adapting Devilman. I'm sure he feels very uneasy about the gore and raunchy stuff, it's just not his style. Devilman is unique but it isn't "quirky". Yuasa is "quirky", but he strives not to offend his liberal clique. Let's be honest guys

...

Never seen or read anything about this series, but all this hype got me interested. Where should I start? What's the essential stuff? I don't really have endless free time to spare.

Exception to the rule granted.

5 volumes isn't much, but I recommend the 80's OVA because it's super wicked, and no gay eyelashes

...

The manga.

Anyone have the Devilman Christmas picture? Not the filled with Christmas Spirit one.

This is more what I'm getting at...
youtu.be/If2I2h3kRuE?t=39m34s

Go back to the board you escaped from.

This reminds me of Isao Sasaki but I am pretty sure it isn't him, who is that? I dig this kind of old anime music.

Yuasa is fine with gore.

>he strives not to offend his liberal clique
This is the kind of shit that automatically disqualifies your opinion.

Most Yuasa anime have some kind of sexual content or gore. Kemonozume, Mind Game, Tatami Galaxy, Kaiba and so on. His approach to the sexual content just tends to be different in texture though its usually either tasteful and artistic or playful and childish. Where as Devilman is more on the explicit, exploitative (as in exploitation film) and pornographic side. With the gore I've never seen much to indicate Yuasa would have a problem with it.

I think what you are trying to put your finger on though really here is that Yuasa tends to be more refined in his approach to this kind of material where as Devilman's approach in the manga is just more like what you'd expect to find in a schlocky B-movie horror film with its tits and violence. I'm sure he will find a way to portray those kinds of scenes in a balanced manner.

It's Ichiro Fucking Mizuki.

>egregious use of smartphones
Only a truly pathetic human could take this as a sign of emasculation.

Not edgy at all, it's gonna be shit.

Stop forcing your American politics into the life of a foreign artist.

Just kiss already.

...and not a single doujin to come out of this will be hetero.

Dude.

Was Sirene in this? I genuinely can't recognize her without her birb form.

Well, couldnt they do a rock or metal version instead of a faggy dubstep sang by a faggot aidoru (male?)?

Music is more dead than anime. Just be thankful it's not vaporwave.

Have you heard dubstep in your life?

I know this is trolling, but are there any
>faggot aidoru (female?)
out there?

I just want darkcore in my animu.

Is this going to be a faithful adaptation in terms of story? Or is this Yuasa’s own spin on it!

Watch and find out? (!)

The ! was an accident, sorry. I thought the type of adaptation would be clear now.

>dark wub is better than normal wub
Okay dude

...

>Dubstep
THERE IS NO DUB ELEMENTS IN HERE YOU COCKSUCKERS HOLY SHIT LOOK INTO WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT FIRST BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY TAKE THE TIME AND JERK OUT A LAME-BRAINED RESPONSE GOD DAMN

Kemonozume isn't just "an exception" it is one of his most important , core and longest works.

You'd have a point if you pointed out that adapting devilman is selling out because devilman is so conventional or pulpy in tone, but Yuasa has worked with a lot of raunchy stuff before.

Kemonozume was raunchy.
tatami galazy had one of the most sexually charged episodes in anime history when the main character was seduced by the girlfriend of the film club president
mind game as well I recall them having a sex scene which , though artistically portrayed, was raunchy.

kemonozume had gore but a somehwat different type of gore to devilman . even so I don't think you're very aware of yuasa's filmogrpahy

Can Yuasa for once not be a total prick and just vomit his ugly ass art style into a setting where it really doesn't feel appropriate? This shit completely takes away all the epicness out of the anime.

You're such a plebshit.
This isn't even his typical of his artstyle.
You have literally no point.
>epicness
Kill yourself underage faggot.

Compelling argument.

Daily reminder that Eva was inspired by this.

Look at this crap,
youtu.be/Qg0i0nm35TE
It looks like it's from Fox ADHD.

>epicness
You will immediately cease and not continue to access the site if you are under the age of 18.

Devilman is literally a shounen manga written for 14 yo edgelords.

Why does Ryo look like a total fag now

That looks amazing.
What is your problem specifically?
Without buzzwords, if you can manage that.

Because he is a total fag. Have you not read Devilman?

>now

I wasnt trolling, i really have my doubts that the 'dude' singing is actually a dude.

That style doesnt fit a song like the devilman theme.

Full version of OP song when?

>Monsters don't look threatening, instead looks ugly and like it's straight outta a student project.
>Exaggerated animation takes away the realism
>Exaggerated character designs take away all form of realism, it's like the art style literally wants us to know that we're watching a cartoon.
>Ugly, flat and under-shaded background feels bland, low effort and unimaginative.
>Art style takes a lot of time getting used to.
>Background characters feel inhumane and it takes away any reason to care about what's happening to them.
>This is personal but when I'm watching an Action, Adventure, Supernatural shounenshit, I expect it to have some form of look that reflects reality and have fights that are legitimately interesting. Mob Psycho 100 had awesome fights despite an ugly ass art style and they also used that well for comedic purposes. I don't feel the same about Devilman's fights, from what I see in the pv.

>>Exaggerated animation takes away the realism
>>Exaggerated character designs take away all form of realism, it's like the art style literally wants us to know that we're watching a cartoon.
Have you even read Devilman?

I wish your arent serious

Zetman > Devilman

>Kemonozume
>exception
mate did you even watch all of Yuasa's previous works?

>muh realism
You're a hopeless manchild. This is a comic book about demons biting each other's tits off. You seem to just want generic anime characters with 1 tone of shading and bulging muscles.

I can't understand how someone as great as Yuasa attracts all this shitposting. Must be sub-300s who don't know anything about animation.
I'm a huge Nagaifag, and I can't imagine anyone I'd rather have do this.

They are trying to capture the spirit of the original material.

I love the dissonance between content and appearance in visual media.

I worded it in a shitty way.
This wants to tell a super serious story while presenting in an art style that feels like I'm watching a slapstick comedy cartoon. Tatami Galaxy and related Yuasa works are unaffected(actually helped) by his art style because they're basically comedies about everyday life. But isn't devilman supposed to be a super serious action-adventure-supernatural-horror-drama? Then, how can anyone take it seriously if it presents itself as The Exorcist with Ace Ventura?

>super serious
No, it is a camp fest. Nagai's works are meant to be exciting and fun, with lots of tits, blood, and slapstick. There's serious drama, but it's basically a vehicle for escalating the violence and absurdity of the situation.

>But isn't devilman supposed to be a super serious action-adventure-supernatural-horror-drama?
No.

You should really watch Kemonozume.

I really don't understand how you think this looks like a slapstick comedy cartoon. The character art is fairly conventional and restrained, it's not remotely as cartoony as some of Yuasa's previous works have been or even Nagai's original manga.

Reminder that no one unironically likes any of Go Nagai's shitty infantile manga.
People pretend to like Devilman as a meme. They only like it ironically because of my father died and the OVAs meme dub.
Same with Mazinger Z which people only like ironically because of the crabsticks.
Some delusional retards convinced themselves that these works are seriously good because they were "homaged" by muh Anno and Gainax.

Fuck off, xpearse.

Holy shit, this guy is beyond helping.

Are you stupid? Devilman is literally as liberal as it gets.

Elaborate

The whole manga is literally Go Nagai crying about how terrible and inhumane war is. People turning into demons unwillingly is a metaphor for the draft, there's constant talk about man-made super weapons, the shift from demon on demon violence to man on man violence, and the most obvious bit of all, pic related. It's very clear none of the gore in Devilman is supposed to be viewed in a positive light by the reader.

The main character is gay, for one.

This. Reading old manga from the 70's you can feel the liberal spirit that was present at the time.
Even some older stuff like Cyborg 009's first half (because i havent finished it) are full of liberal and progressive mesages.

That's just sci-fi in general.

Crabsticks?

Fujo, pls.
The only one that comes close to that description is Ryo and that's because he's a angel with no concept of sexuality.

>thinking this is faggy dubstep
So you only listen to anime and vidya OSTs, then?

Not him. Nagai angels aren't asexual beings, he made Satán hermaprhodite for a reason.

>with no concept of sexuality
Show me evidence for this in either Devilman or the Bible.

Oh shit, pottery.

I really wonder how this will fit into Yuasa's filmography, since his other works are very optimistic and existentialist, yet Devilman is the epitome of nihilism and pessimism, and basically a condemnation of human nature.

>his other works are very optimistic and existentialist
There are also Kaiba, Kemonozume and Cat Soup.

Yeah, I'd include those as being optimistic and existentialist. Especially Kaiba.
Cat Soup is more surreal though, and doesn't fit into either side of those dichotomies.

what did he mean by this?

dubstep is bettter tahn rock you faggot

as much as i hate yuasa, I got to admitt this looks good. hope he actually makes a good adaptation

I want Sup Forums faggots to leave.
