I wont exactly argue with you on this one, but you have to take into consideration that most of the times, voting patterns have way more to do with class than anything else, the traditionally blue collar democrat protestants of the industrial north are a good example.So if a big infux of working class people (irregardless of race or religion) gains voting rights, they are definitely more susceptible to populist/ socialist rhetoric.
In immigration policies in particular, it's only natural for recent immigrants to want to eliminate some restrictions, most of the times it's for personal reasons (they want a family member to come to USA etc)

also, I would add that catholics seem to be much more tolerant of corruption, esp, in government. "It's just something that happens" type attitude. Anglo protestants tend to be less tolerant; it violates a sense of morality or justice for them. My assumption, once again, is that greek orthodox are also tolerant of corruption within government and law considering their current situation. And this is where anglo protestants and jews different greatly. Jews tend to be manipulative (and corrupt) and have taken advantage of that sense of justice. General trends, "not all" applies ofc.
