so you rack a discaprin?

Cause I'm not retarded, and the only foreign country I care about is Ireland. If we count Ulster that's two.

My fellow Hibernian

to move to japan and become MORE depressed and finally bite an actual bullet?

I am user, but it's not easy.

I'm dumb

Will learning Japanese make me happy?

because it's an archaic language fabric of a perverted archaic society

Because I'm learning superior chinese

no

you're not supposed to be happy, most of the time

>Supporting Commies

When the Day of Forcible Removal comes you're the first person I'm going to throw out of the helicopter.

I am, why are you judging people without discipline instead of doing what you want to and being satisfied with that?

this
Aside from cartoons and video games, there is literally no reason to learn japanese unless you intend to move there

Mandarin on the other hand would actually be useful

You can't learn Japanese.

...

I'm sort of in the middle of learning it.

Too busy with music and school to learn Japanese.
If I get signed and have to tour Asia then ill probably learn but there's a 99.99999% chance that aint ever happening.

You are wrong. There are also movie and books, and many international companies have connections with Japanese branches.

I know literally nothing about anime, I would really really appreciate if someone could recommend me some of the best normieish tier animes that includes /fit/ motivation and just being a powerful cunt

>memorizing 2000+ pictures of squashed bugs just to be able to read basic shit
Maybe tomorrow.

>supporting communist china's colonization of the west
Gas yourself chink

Because I am convinced that the writing of the subs are generally better than the actual spoken dialogue considering I watch robot shows directed at small children

I am no commie, I plan to move to china and revive the han so BENEVOLENCE will return to the realm
t. ken dadudu

>Mandarin on the other hand would actually be useful
>wanting to interact with the Chinese in a business environment
Enjoy your hell

...

Realistically speaking, how long will it take me to learn enough to pass the JLPT N3, given that I'm of slightly above average intelligence.
Also I already know Korean enough to be considered a native speaker, which may make me learn faster

Dragon Ball Z

>not learning Japanese to browse 2chan instead of Sup Forums

I am a very stupid man

This.

The writing system looks nightmarish.

I'm sure I'd learn the grammar and vocabulary quickly enough, but learning kanji seems unreachable.

Just because I watch a lot of anime doesn't mean I'm going to put the effort into learn Japanese so I can understand it better.

I've probably put tens of thousands of hours into videogames and I'm still bad at them. I enjoy it because it's fairly easy and takes up time. Same with anime.

>tfw moving to japan

The fuck are you talking about? You can read basic shit a few hundred kanjis at most.

japan is rated as one of the most difficult languages to become fluent in, by the US Defense Language Institute. Only Mandarin, Cantonese, and that Khaosian African click language are harder.

Chinese sounds like nails on a chalkboard though
It sounds like a butchered version of korean or japanese

This.

My biggest fear is that by learning Japanese I will realise that the Japanese voice acting is just as bad as the english dubs.

>ireland

their language is going extinct. Everyone is Anglophile.

meanwhile the best Celts are still majority speakers of a celtic language.

boku no pico

>projecting this much

inu犬
>tried to learn one
>installed rikaichan + chingchong typing
あららno more trying.

Why bother when I know I will fail like in everything else I try to do.

I tried.

It's hell.

>can't even post because you need a proxy
>even if you manage to do it you will stick out like a sore thumb
Japs are such mean bullies

All east asian language are complicated as fuck
They should be the ones learning european languages, not the other way around

>Learn Japanese
>When you're not even proficient in English
No, thank you.

This. I pretty much only use my Japanese when I go snowboarding in nipland once a year. Unless you're a mega weeb, learn chink.

I suspect that the only thing it will be useful for will be trying to find the rare good series that are also untranslated, and it will just make me realise that the voice acting in most shows is not that great

You can read most porn with only 300-400ish Kanji, even you don't understand every single one you can still get what they're saying thanks to context.

Just become an eternal lurker.

I'm overweight. I started a plan to lose weight, already feeling better, but honestly thats the only reason. Once im slightly chubby as opposed to fat I'll start learning. Social anxiety is a bitch.

Daily reminder nippongo classes are 2deep4u

>Implying there's something else in life than cartoons and video games
I think you're lost son.

>Snowboarding in Jap
You ever tried Snowboarding in New Zealand?

How about an anime that teaches you Japanese

>books
Jap can't even fucking make good movies. I have no doubt they've never written a novel of worth. Either way the ones of worth most likely have already been translated.

Kanji isn't too hard, vocabulary is what will fuck you up, like it will in most languages not closely related t your own. See You don't need that many Kanji and even 2000 is easier than you might think. But you need a much larger vocabulary.

>reading a book and solving exercises at home
>m-muh s-social anxiety getting to me s-senpai.. I can't learn japanese

You dont even need to speak Nip to know the voice acting in quite a few old OVAs are pretty bad

Fuck that. I'm working in the video game industry so I'm better off learning Japanese.

I only recognize dog and fat

Mencius approves.

not him, but NZ is pretty boring. i've been there twice and the only thing of interest is the local birds.

Yeah, can't stay on the mountain so you gotta spend an hour driving each way and the year I went was just fucking ice. Queenstown was sick tho.

Maybe he's too busy focusing on weight loss that he's unable to learn Japanese at the same time? Just a thought.

>reading translations

I never tried Japanese but every time I've tried to study a second language I eventually give up because it's too hard.

even old japanese people will carry little kanji dictionaries with them. just in case they run across one of the 10,000 plus they don't know by heart.

Anime doesn't teach you Japanese

You can memorize all the Hiragana in a week though, less if you pace yourself. I just memorized 5 a day. If you're learning a language at a college level how can you expect to spend an entire 2-4 weeks just learning the alphabet in a 8-16 week course. Imagine how miserable they'd be when they start Kanji.

Sadly I cant self teach and those online courses suck ass to me. Thats why I don't feel comfortable looking like a fat weeb at my local community college. Its dumb as fuck I know

You are wrong again. There are many good movies especially from the 2000s and early 2010s. And yes, many good books have been translated, like Murakami's works, but reading it in Japanese might be different, as not all translations have good quality. Also, there are untranslated books, that are good, as every nation has some of does hidden gems.

Kanji isn't really that hard if you do your anki reps like a good boy and a spend a decent amount of time reading stuff in japanese.

eh, if you watch enough subs you can pick up words and phrases. you won't be having conversations, but it'll put you ahead of tourists.

There is literally nothing wrong with that unless you're a weeaboo.

>There are many good movies
None of which are from Japan. Nice going there

youtube.com/watch?v=XIX8vEaX6CE&ab_channel=LordCaoCao

Because I'm learning French right now and I don't have time to learn another language at the moment.

The English language contains over a thousand years of quality native literature, why waste any time on a remake of another language's literature?

Yes, but you don't need to know those for anything you'd want to do as a foreign speaker, be it reading a newspaper, holding a conversation or watching a movie.

>hobbies are not a valid reason to put in effort
why are you here?

Nah definitely just don't wanna be a fat neck beard while i take a Japanese class. Thanks though.

...

All about Lily Chou-chou, Blue spring, Confessions, Norwegian wood, The twilight samurai, Villain, Himitsu, Love exposure, A story of Yonosuke, Hyakuen no koi, The Kirishima thing ... these are just a few of what I have seen an deem worthy of watching.

Heed this user's warning before it's too late

Because japanese literature has some really neat stuff like the Genji Monogatari which even japs supposedly have hard time reading in its original form, so I'm certainly not going to bother spending the years upon years neccessary to appreciate the original as much as the translation of someone renowned as one of the greates translators of all time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Waley

I too love the criterion collection! Such great movies I don't even have to think for myself haha!

>current year
>learning a language dependent on hyroglyphics rather than an alphabet

No thanks.

Do work on health, but know that classes are a disappointment to the majority of people. You may still want to take them for various reasons, but do not think that it will take any load off of the self-study required, or that the pace wont be dull if you ARE doing adequate self-study.
The two common outcomes are, slack off because lol I'm not self-studying I'm taking a class, fail. Or, do regular self study, be bored, feel like you are wasting time and money. Know that, and be ready to figure out how to make the most out of it yourself.

What does criterion collection mean?

this nigger
I picked up hiragana in a few days, just spent a few hours each day

it's really not hard
that and katakana

what's the hard part is all the fucking kanji
that's the shit that takes years to remember because there's so fucking much of it

でも、僕は日本語を勉強していますよ

>Communist sinoboo

If you don't even understand that I have not even the slightest doubt you're incapable of actually discerning good movies from the bad ones. Therefore any movies you may have named from now on out are invalidated on virtue of that alone.

貴様みたいなくそばかは何も知りません

I am in uni and work 20-30h a week.
