Actually, I think that it is pretty funny exactly because I watched a lot of shitty "horror" animes. It uses most of the common tropes, but subverts them entirely.

The breaking point for me was the Lovepon's mad rambling and how nobody took it seriously after a while. Also, that fucking penguin. Before that, I was expecting it to be either a really bad "horror" or a weird drama.

It actually spooked me, but I'm pretty weak for horror shit anyway. I thought that it was actually a good evidence that they were going for the horror stuff. During later scenes that she sang that shit I understood that it was actually a running gag.
