Basically this show is to race horses what Strike Witches was to WWII aces. The names of all the characters are derived from the names of famous Japanese race horses such as Special Week and Grass Wonder, even ones that were originally male.

No the ones that do well in competitions get to keep their balls so they can breed, the idea being the offspring they produce will be just as capable. They castrate the ones that don't do well because the offspring they produce are expected to be just as deficient in their performance.

Neither the pic nor the trailer shows any of them with human ears as well as horse ears. I mean there's one horse girl with some headgear on that implies it but that could just be because it's the only way they could design that harness to stay secure enough to keep that hat on her head while she's running.

Oh well I was just going off a quote from a horse trainer in an episode of Stephen Fry in America where said trainer tells Stephen Fry that if you believe in reincarnation you'd want to be reincarnated as a stallion that can run because that means you get to bang all the mares you want and get all the best horse feed. Fry then asks him what happens to male horses that can't run, to which he replies, "They cut their nuts off."
