Are these two criminals going to get away with their assassination plot?

I hope so. Hiyori did nothing wrong.

Kanami should teach her new wife how to sword properly.

Mint is patrician

Kanami is certainly not going to get away with her NTR plot.

It's time to move on to your loli, Mai.

Yes she is

Aratama are not even human. They are saving Japan.

No she isn't.

Will Mai even get paired with Kuudere or are they just gonna sit there in that weird LEFT OVERS pile

neko chan isn't complaining about being used as a boob rest so I assume their relationship is healthy

Where's their ship gear?

That young lady does look very healthy.

According to the wiki Kashima Shintō-ryū basically revolves around finding weak points in the opponent's armor since it's from sengoku battlefield. May be her style is a bad match to Mai?

It does seem a bit MURDER heavy

Awooo?

I was just memeing. I don't know why Mai said that. Even if Mai is way more skilled, there's no reason to say that Hiyori doesn't know swordsmanship after performing a bunch of sword techniques against her peers.

>May be her style is a bad match to Mai?
That's not what Mai says. She literally told her she has no skills.

In any case, if she can't beat Mai she's got no business fighting Kaname.

I hate NTR.

*kanami

This show is progressing really swiftly for something that's two cours. The Hiyori vs Mai fight is something you'd expect to see halfway through the show and not in episode 2.

You know it's perfectly possible to have more than one friend, right?

...

Mai has accepted that Kanami wants to put her sword in other girls.

But not more than one girlfriend.

It wasn't even a fight. Just Mai showing Hiyori why she sucks.

>government conspiracy
>assassination attempt
>politics
>cute girls doing cute things with dark and serious plot
>cool battle choreography
>emphasis on sword techniques and skills
>main heroines are on the run as fugitives
>BATORU and TANOSHII yuri subtext
I must say, this show is on the fast track to being AOTS for me.

There's nothing to hate about cute yuri NTR

So there is no problem then.

That's a possibility for Mai controlling the pace of their battle. It still doesn't explain Mai's comment.

DV > NTR

I don't think this will get that dark and serious. At the very least I doubt there will be any deaths.

It's impossible to have more than one wife though.

>not converting to islam
Stay cucked, chistcuck.

Time for world-building info.

Toji [Sword user] - The Miko who brandish Okatana. Can only be female. By manifesting the spirits of the Okatana in themselves, they draw out their power and suppress the Aradama. Most of them are students who haven't yet reached adulthood and study in specialised schools, honing their skills, all while fulfilling their police duties.

Okatana [Venerable sword] - Japanese-style swords made from a rare metal with divine properties - jewel steel. Can be used by the Toji, and only them, to call upon various powers from a different dimension called the Hidden Realm. The only weapon capable of taking down the Aradama.

Noro - the impurities that are removed in the refinement of jewel steel. As they possess divine qualities, they are virtually indestructible by normal means and are treated with utmost care. If Noro is allowed to agglomerate, it will form into an Aradama and bring disasters upon the world. To prevent that, since times immemorial it has been split into small quantities and then placed as offerings in forests around the country.

Aradama [Raging soul] - also called ghosts, spirits and youkai. Their true nature is Noro agglomerated into a pseudo-living creature. fucking Mushi Depending on the amount and properties of the Noro, the disasters they bring are different. The Miko wielding Okatana are capable of cutting down and exorcising them.

Gokaden - The collective name of the five middle-to-high specialised sword schools in Japan. Kanagawa's Renpu Girls' Academy, Gifu's Minoseki Academy, Kyoto's Ayanokouji Martial Arts School, Nara's Heijou Institute and Okayama's Osafune Girls' Academy. Under the control of the specialised sword administration bureau. Is tasked not only with training of the Toji themselves, but ot their support personnel as well.

She's jelly?

They're lucky they're just friends then.

Special Ritual Riot Squad - A troop belonging to the Special Sword Administration Bureau of the National Police Agency. Wield the special swords known as the Okatana and have permission to use them at their own discretion. They hold a special position in government service, and a lot of them are females that haven't yet reached adulthood. Special Ritual Riot Squad is the official name of the troop, but it's commonly called simply "The Toji", and sometimes, with gratitude, "our Toji".

The Tragedy of Sagami Bay - The worst Aradama-caused tragedy in history which happened 20 years prior in September of 1998. An incident that occured on the coast of Sagami Bay led to large amounts of Noro being leaked into the sea, which formed into the largest Aradama ever observed. The Aradama landed on the coast and headed north, causing large-scale damage to the city of Fujisawa, which resulted in over 3000 casualties. Through cooperation of the SRRS and the Self-Defence Force the Aradama was driven to Enoshima. Thanks to the efforts of the select few elites of the SRRS, it was successfully subjugated. Following the event, the aforementioned six elites were labeled heroes.

Utsushi [Duplicate] - One of the Toji's most basic fighting skills, and their strongest defensive ability. Using the Okatana as an intermediary, one's physical body is transformed into a body of energy. While Utsushi is active, all damage the real body would've taken takes form of pain and mental fatigue. Receiving a blow to a part of a body will make that part vanish and its function be lost, but one's real body will take no damage while it is active.

Jin'i [Swift move] - An offensive skill of the Toji. Using the Okatana as an intermediary, one departs from the normal flow of time and accelerates. The Hidden Realm is made up of multiple layers, with each one having flow of time faster than the previous one. Thus, the deeper one delves, the more effective their Jin'i becomes. Those with a lot of training can reach the deeper, faster layers.

That's why I hate NTR.

Are you the mentally ill user from the neptunia threads?

no just someone with common sense

>analysis
>toji-no-miko.wikia.com/wiki/Analysis:_National_Swordsmanship_Tournament

Kaoru and her massive sword, for example, uses the fighting style Yakumaru Jigen-Ryu (as with other Jigen-Ryu styles) that focuses on the ONE BIG STRIKE. Apparently in Golden Kamuy, one character warns another to NEVER try to parry a strike from a Jigen-Ryu practitioner, else one would receive two swords on its head.
Kanami's style focuses on reading enemy movements and outwinning them on each clash. This would explain why Sayaka lost; she kept on engaging Kanami, allowing Sayaka to be "read". The episode would also show Kanami's immense insight, recognizing fighting styles just by seeing one kata on display.
Mai's style, Hokushin Itto-Ryu, has a principle where "a perfect technique should contain defense and offense in one action". Kanami attested to this, noting that Mai's Seigan (the basic combat stance) was unbreakable. Mai also attempted this on Kanami using the seiza position, forcing Kanami to attack instead of respond with Mai preparing for a defense strat—alas, she lost because Kanami was simply too knowledgeable about Mai's combat style.
Hiyori is quite formidable with her Kashima Shinto-Ryu, which is based on practical responses to combat since the style was developed with strong influences to the Warring States Period. Hiyori finds weak points and WILL use them to her advantage.
Ellen's style, Taisha-ryu suits uneven terrain since it was designed that way (practical combat techniques), and one notable trait is having a low stance compared to other styles. That's probably why Hiyori attacked from such a low angle.

You can only have one wife.
But nothing stops you from having as many concubines as you wish.

I don't think this dork is cut out for being a fugitive.

Mai is just shit-talking to make Hiyori lose her composure. Hiyori is skilled. Mai couldn't even see one of Hiyori's special techniques since she moved so fast. In contrast, Kanami could see it, but just barely.

Isn't this just headcanon from the wikia? What's next, stuff from tvtropes?

Well, Kanami style shine in clashes so Mai forced her to attack rather than fighting her like Sayaka in the tournament. So Mai is good at controlling the pace at least.

So I assume she ended up exaggerating a bit as a shit talk.

I don't think so. Mai's assessment that Hiyori's too straightforward and easy to read seemed on point. She's just fast which is why Mai couldn't see her moves and such. But she lacks skill so Mai still can kick her ass.

It's a fan analysis. At least the person doing it knows Japanese.

>fan analysis
aka headcanon

That isn't because Hiyori is not skilled. Mai's style is just a bad match to Hiyori's, that's all. Mai spars with Kanami so she has a lot of practice and has honed her stance to be defensive as fuck.

They need to stop using so much CG. It looks like shit.

My headcanon is that Mai is the strongest, but she can't face Kanami because gay.

Mai saying Hiyori has no skill still doesn't make sense. Even if she can beat Hiyori blindfolded, that doesn't negate knows how to fight.

>actual plot

I love this shit already.

Works for me.

Mai's shcocked expressions whenever Kanami 1-ups her easily destroys that headcanon.

How is she going to beat Hiyori when she can't even see her till the latter already decapitated her.

>That isn't because Hiyori is not skilled.
Are we going to ignore the fact Mai literally says she's lacking skill? I know you think she's bluffing but you can't prove that.

Read the manga. Mai really tries her best and hates that Kanami keeps beating her.

Why didn't Hiyori use this technique? Mai had Utsushi so it's not like she'll experience fatal wounds.

It's not like Hiyori doesn't know shit. She just doesn't know enough to fight at Mai's level.

She's super fast but not very experienced with sword duels.

She got Kogarasumaru just recently.

She beat first girl by pure speed. She beat Eren by baiting her and using superior speed.

Are you going to ignore the fact that Hiyori not only represented her school in the tournament, made it to the finale and had Kanami gushing over her techniques?

With superior skills. Besides Hiyori is easy to read so Mai can predict her moves.

Maybe your butt hurts afterwards.

So Hiyori looks exciting as first glance but she is a one trick pony?

From what?

No, so I'm gonna wait for the show to give an explanation instead of assuming something I can't prove like you're doing.

You can have all the skill you want but if she's jamming a sword in your gut before you can blink it's not going to matter. She couldn't even keep up with Kanami who could only barely see Hiyori move.

Not even the elite guards were able to block her. It took Yukari herself to parry before the tomboy could butt in.

This show told us more about japanese swords and fencing styles than swordboys through years of their existence. I love it.

She was shit-talking, dude. At the best you could argue she was being overly critical of Hiyori techniques since she has bad affinity to Mai's stance.

Hiyori wasn't at peak condition, so maybe that's why. She said she only covered a bit from the night before. Or maybe she didn't want tor reveal one of her hidden techniques.

That's debatable.

>Aradamas control the government
Where is Hiyori's tinfoil hat?

>She was shit-talking, dude
Prove it, you can't.

People already died in first episode. People died in big fight 20 years ago and humans lost there while they think they won. It seems like Kanami and Hiyori both lost mothers.

It's pretty fucking serious already.

Sorry, I mean intercept.

Hiyori is probably bad with the sword itself but very good with the miko superpowers.

...

I can't wait until the mobage comes out so I can waste all my time trying to reroll for the genki gaijin just to stop playing the shitty game a couple days later.

Common sense, dude. It's not like you can prove what Mai said is true, anyways.

...

Strike Witches also did that. Better CGI than slideshow fights.

>Not even the elite guards were able to block her
They weren't in front on her attack and she is pretty fucking fast. No one's arguing that. But she's also easy to read and in a one on one fight with an highly skilled opponent like Mai or Kanami she's gonna get her ass handed to her.

Hiyori's profile disagrees with Mai.

>Saori Ōnishi as Hiyori Jūjō, a third-year student in the middle school section of Hiragi Gakukan. She is 14 years old. Her sword is Kogarasumaru. She is serious, cool, and stoic. She has the strongest sense of responsibility among the Toji, and once she decides on something, she doesn't bend. Her sword skills center on speed, and even among the Toji, her skills are among the best.

>Common sense, dude.
We're talking anime, user. Common sense goes out of the window most of the time.

She's not very experienced. Principal cake said she got her sword just recently so Origamis were not even informed yet.

That's just another reason to NOT read the manga.

You can predict an attack all you want but if you aren't fast enough to parry it predicting it is completely useless.

We would have to see what it actually says in Japanese though. I do get that she's based on speed. But Mai didn't deny this. She was basically saying all that speed would not beat her because Hiyori's easy to read.

What type of sword was she using before Kogarasumaru?

I think that's a different. Hiyori probably has trained for a long time since young since her mother was a Toji too based on hinted flashbacks and foreshadowing. However, the Okatana that Hiyori has is something she recently acquired.

You get time to react if you can predict it. It's not like Hiyori is a lot faster than the others. She's just got an edge.

Help me guys, my foot fetish is being awakened!

>implying technique matters when you're fast enough
That's like saying the loli needs skill when she can probably just spin her sword around and destroy anything.

I believe the TL who did the article took the profiles from the official website.

Took you long enough.

Hiyori's modest skirt is attractive and cute. Unlike Mai's slutty short belt of a skirt

>It's not like Hiyori is a lot faster than the others
But she is.
Most couldn't even see her.
