ITT: Anime that used to be popular, but nobody talks about these days

...

Were you not here last month?

for good reason

nope, been off Sup Forums for pretty much a month, what did I miss?

what why?

still waiting on s2

That kinda happens when the sequel sucks, look at Eureka 7.

NOW I'VE LOST IT

I never understood why there wasn't an S2. I vaguely remember them announcing one. What happened?

season 2 was one of the biggest mistakes ever

I almost forgot about you Chinese Electric Batman!
Dude, everyone rewatches Toradora every Christmas, it's tradition.

I'd space dandy, but I'm not sure if it was popular to begin with

The studio went 'belly-up' or so I am led to believe.

I hear there was a fan-made attempt at one but it was all unofficial.

The more i rewatch this show, the more i realize that Ami is best girl.

Definitely not the most popular, arguably not among the very best, but it was a definite stand-out title in 2014, but that's only - yes, only - four years ago.
Give it a couple of more years and it's probably going to start popping up again in various communities and anime discourse when people start to make 2010s retrospectives.

...

I still wish there was more fanart in this style

What is there to say about it? I've been waiting for new content for like 10 years

Spicy Wölf

word

Lucky star

I've never watched Toradora because Tsunderes are shit

...

>doesn't know

You seriously haven't missed anything. It's middling at best and I've no idea why it's so hyped.

>there will never be a Soul Eater: Brotherhood

Gintama

Season 2 wasn't that bad, but because it wasn't Hei kicking ass and getting girls killed for 12 straight episodes user's hated it.

Honestly S2 basically takes what would've been a 3 episode arc in S1 and stretches it for 12 episodes.

Christmas

The last arc of the manga have just the same ending of the anime, the only diference is that black start is a fucking god of war, prety cool guy

Re:zero

Dandy got shitposted pretty hard while it was airing because it aired on Cartoon Network before it aired in Japan

This right here. The sequel's hot garbage and the threads for it seem to rarely ever hit the bump limit when they pop up once in a blue moon. Negima feels like it's in a weird spot, where tons of people still know about and even like it, but there's just no discussion anymore anywhere.

this thread + 1 month

you can't even deny this wasn't talked about.

I want a suiseiseki!

The thread yesterday was the first I've seen in months.

I'm highjacking this thread into a nostalgia thread.

"hurr what season 2 xd" fags are some of the most obnoxious people on this board.
How the fuck is this garbage meme still alive close to a decade later?

still love this guys art style

It used to be fucking everywhere but now it's sorta... not?
Even after getting a S3, too. I'm sure there are still idiots who occasionally post on /c/ or a general of somesort, but it's been all but wiped out from everyone's collective memeory.

Same with Lucky Star, actually.

...

I rewatched this recently and only skipped over a few parts.

I still really like this, but almost never see anybody talk about it.

...

this one predates Sup Forums

There are bi-monthly threads.
People also bring it up in every "artsy anime for seriously adult such as myself" threads.
Squealer did nothing wrong.

didn't watch the 2nd season, but I bet I'd like him more as an alcoholic than an edgy ninja

Tell me how this one ended

>Hei
>edgy
I don't think you watched S1 either

Even if it has space chateau d'if and duelling with super robots, Gankutsuou was a more faithful Count of Monte Cristo adaption than the hollywood movies.

I remeber how there was a thread about Peppo being an excellent trap every other day on Sup Forums

Recently I've actually seen alot more people give praise to Based yakomaru.

Honestly didn't think that many people liked the show. One of my favourites for sure.

>artsy anime for seriously adult such as myself

I really dislike that mentality as well. If you're going to say anything, then say it is more mature.

some what happily.

still the best art style in any anime

Great show.

This was actually quite popular since it had a loli mc in a distopian world on a journey.

minami should've won

I never said that. I just said that I prefer this adaption of Count of Monte Cristo over for example the movie from 2002. Sure, it was quite gay with the Franz/Albert/Count thing going on. While I did not like the end of the anime either at least it did Haydee more justice than her being a plot device in every other adaption.

It's a good book I could go on about, but I'm happy to talk about the show too.

School Rumble. Never talked about anymore.

my best girl

This show was one of the few times where I was actually conflicted about best girl.
Wish the rest had been adapted.

Alcoholic Hei is followed by a loli that he verbal and physically abuses on occasion.

That show was probably the 3rd anime I watched, I loved it.
S3 was a shame though.

This is the banner I'm seeing right now.

It wasn't a smash hit or anything but it was one of the most talked about shows of the season

I wasn't criticizing you. I was responding to others.

To you i responded that that anime had the best art style in any anime to me. The story is just a series of intricate revenge porns done exceptionally well.

side note I can't think of an anime that has dared to be as bold with art style. Kyousougiga came close

Yeah but that popularity disappeared when it all went downhill after how perfect the first arc ended.

I still see this pop up every now and then, but when it was airing it was guaranteed a front page thread.

The problem is the isekai genre is being flooded with mediocre to terrible animes. Shows like this often get overshadowed by mediocre moe isekai shit.

>animes

Mononoke had similar art style. Incidentally it's an anime that was popular way back but no one on Sup Forums cares anymore.

multiple anime series isn't animes?

One of the best anime of the last decade, Sup Forums was super butthurt about it due to it airing on CN.

Multiple sheep aren't sheeps?
You don't pluralize anime.

>You don't pluralize anime.

says you I hope you have fun with your autism.

Don't waste time with retards.

>there will never be a Soul Eater: Brotherhood
Everything in second half was so much better in manga.

Came here to post this.
No second season spelled doom for the franchise.

...

This one had an interesting take on the whole isekai genre with how difficult living in that kind of world might be, but the entire show executed it terribly and the pacing on the show was so fucking slow it hurt.

Honestly could have been a movie or maybe a short 2-4 ova series instead of what we got.

Stop samefagging retard. There's a reason why no one responded to your garbage post. You reek of new.

>if you think my garbage meme is garbage you're new
If you weren't trying this hard to fit in and just parrot shit you've seen others post, you might actually contribute to a thread for once.

All the main girls were bad, minami included.

DTB second season was fine.
Ending was weird though and implied that S3 is coming.
So yeah, S3 when?

bait

Might just legitimately be the best adaptation of Monte Cristo.
Not because it's particularly faithful to the source, but because it had the guts to do something interesting and different, and executed it admirably.
If I want the original authentic Count of Monte Cristo experience I'd just read the book. Even like the french TV-series with Gerard Depardieu isn't that special. It's good, it's faithful, it's a well-done adaptation to film form, but in the end not that interesting.

I loved this show, it was a bit messy, but it was still super unique in everything from visuals to its character interactions.

This was perfect

both pacing and execution. to bad the LNs are gone and stopped being translated.
