Teru uses his powers to get good grades, be good at sports, get girls and keep his school's punks in line

>Teru uses his powers to get good grades, be good at sports, get girls and keep his school's punks in line.
>Mob uses his powers to make money for a guy who lies to him
So what does Mob actually have to teach Teru? How to be a loser?

Also to beat the absolute fuck out of anybody who makes him mad.

>be a loser
That's the morale of this webcomic. "If you have some incredible talent, dont try to develop it and raise your social standing. Instead pretend to be average and try hard to socialize, even if you suck at that". An amazing recipe to ruin your own life.

While that seems like it makes a ton of sense, I actually got pretty close to ruining my life following the first one until I accepted mediocrity and started following the second one.

>Teru uses his powers to be a jackass
>Mob uses his powers to help people
Gee I wonder

The message is to not be a dick. No matter how powerful you are, don’t be too arrogant and an asshole or you’ll get fucked.

>accepted mediocrity
I'm talking about actually having talent and not about deluding yourself.

Caring about your own interests is not being a jackass.

>I'm talking about actually having talent and not about deluding yourself.

what do you define as talent? Is it being the very best? Only one person can be that, so odds are it's neither you nor me. I've never had to try achieve anything in my life, so when I finally faced failure it almost destroyed me.

Now I got a pretty sweet gig as a software developer and I live pretty much carefree. Perhaps I'm not a superstar, but I wouldn't call myself talentless either.

>Caring about your own interests is not being a jackass
Pursuing those interests and never helping anyone else is kind of the definition of being a jackass.
>Have super cool powers
>Use them to force people to think you're a good guy
>Never use them to help people out, naturally making people think you're a good guy

After their fight, Teru was naked, bald and abandoned by his "friends" while Mob left with the body improvement bros. Who's the loser?

>what do you define as talent? Is it being the very best?
If it's an area when you must be the very best to be successful, then yes. Most areas are not that extreme.

>I've never had to try achieve anything in my life, so when I finally faced failure it almost destroyed me.
That's the problem all talented people face. It's hard to say whether you became mediocre because you gave up or because you never actually had a chance, without knowing the whole situation.

>Now I got a pretty sweet gig as a software developer and I live pretty much carefree.
Yet you are still watching teen cartoons for some reason.

>Pursuing those interests and never helping anyone else is kind of the definition of being a jackass.
We don't know if he ever helped anyone. What we are told is that using your power to help youself is wrong. For example, if you are smart in school you should not use it to study and get in good university, instead you should do homework for your most retarded classmates.

>Never use them to help people out, naturally making people think you're a good guy
He is not using his powers to force people to think he is a good guy, he is using it to make them admire him.
People won't like you just because you are helping them.

After the fight? Both. Mob dragged Teru down, but didn't raise himself.

Using your superpowers to advance in society won't grant you a sense of satisfaction. Don't know how you can apply superpowers to real world but that's basically the message of this anime.

Let me tell you this right now.

Social skills > any sort of talent.

And you only get better at them by interacting with people like mob was doing. Tjat said, the whole "Fuck talents, be a loser" thing is just the impression the end of the anime leaves off at. As the series goes on Mob starts questioning the things Regan has been preaching to him and starts deciding when its appropriate to use his powers on his own. The end of tge entire series is the reveal that him suppressing his desire to use his powers so much is what led to ??? being created and has him accepting his powers as a key part of himself.

How not to be a sociopathic asshole.

>Caring about your own interests
>boss of a teen gang and beats up people for fun
Stop posting, Teru

>Social skills > any sort of talent.
Unfortunately that's true. At least if you only care about your personal success.
However, if you really suck at social interactions, but have good talent in something, you should not abandon that talent just to improve your social skills, because you will never raise them too high anyway. You will have better social life as good but somewhat eccentric specialist.

I just dont understand, how is having strong psychic power any different from being intelligent or physically fit or having a rich daddy in their world?

I've never told that Teru is the good guy. He is an asshole, however he is not criticized for being an asshole. He is criticized for using his powers to help himself. Him being an asshole is used as the main argument in that criticism, yet it was never proven that using his powers to help himself made him an asshole.
That's an intentional villainization for the sake of propaganda.

>I've never told that Teru is the good guy. He is an asshole, however he is not criticized for being an asshole. He is criticized for using his powers to help himself. Nope, you getting it wrong and some anons here too.It was never the main point that Teru is using power for himself, like they literally told you that having and being confident in your talent is good, whatever that talent may be.Teru 's actual problem was that by having that overhelming power, small worldview and as Mob point out, little confidence in himself he start belittle other people and their talents too, thinking that main character in this world while others just trash because they don't have same talent as him.Mob just trying to say that he still human being, that's all.

> It's hard to say whether you became mediocre because you gave up or because you never actually had a chance
its always a mix of both, its impossible to be succesful in any worthwile field without effort, but if i had more talent i might have made it further before hitting the wall

>Yet you are still watching teen cartoons for some reason.

Why shouldn't I?

he wasn't really good at school, sports or relationships if he needed his powers for every one of these
Mob teached him how to better himself as a person instead of using his one talent as a crutch

Teru and Reigen are two sides of a spectrum.

Reigen is perfectly willing to wallow in his own mediocrity but at the same time he's down to earth and semi-intelligent.
Teru goes above and beyond in everything but at the same time he's delusional and cruel.
As the series goes on Mob learns to find a good mix between the two to become a decent human being.

Basically this.I just rewatched the episode and check this arc in manga to be sure, heck, after this arc Teru continue to using his power or talents as he wants,he just realised that he's still human being or as you may call him 'average, mediocre" person and stopped being such asshole by trashing and hurting people for his delusional and retarted reasons, that's all.

Some hamfisted moral. ONE should stick to One Gag Man, MP100 is simple to the point of simple-mindedness.

>Nope, you getting it wrong and some anons here too.
I'd say MOST anons here too (except they took it without skepticism). And why is that?
Is it possible that the message you are talking about is used as camouflage and distraction to hide another message which is not as harmless?

Teach him the lesson of humility. The one thing Mob has, that he doesn't. And he fuckin hated that when he met him.

It's the classic "With great power, comes great responsibility". Mob is already a kid uncle ben, with fully matured and unyielding humility. He has to learn not to be a pushover.

>The one thing Mob has, that he doesn't.
Mob has too much of it. There is so much he could do with his power instead of playing Jesus.

>It's the classic "With great power, comes great responsibility"
People with that mindset are unlikely to get in power.

>Mob dragged Teru down, but didn't raise himself.
Wrong. Mob is constantly improving himself, that was the whole point of him leaving with the body improvement guys.

Only slightly related but is the dub of this any good? Already watched it subbed when it first aired and I need a reason to re-watch it.

teru only wanted to depend of his power, mob wanted to improve in every aspect
teru when lost to mob we see what is left of him whit out his power
nothing
he lost everything

So, giving yourself up, denying your own strong points and trying to get acceptance from people by doing things for which you have no aptitude is self improving?
When you are reading or watching something you need to think not only about what author wanted to say, but also whether he is right or not. That second part most people tend to forget. And no, "that worked out for fictional character" is not a valid argument here.

>ONE is a bad writer
In other news, water is wet.

>So, giving yourself up, denying your own strong points and trying to get acceptance from people by doing things for which you have no aptitude is self improving?

What, how do you even getting those messages from this show,it never said those things at all?

I thought the moral of the show was that combat superpowers aren't all that useful in modern society, unless you want to be a criminal. Not that using your talents is bad. Teru is clearly a bully and cheater, so dunno why you think his behaviour is ok.
To give a real world analogy, it's like a rich guy doing shady shit with his wealth instead of playing by the rules. You think that's also just advancing yourself and nothing wrong with it?

>Kids not getting the message

You are not special. Even if you are talented, don't make it the only thing that matters about you. Thinking you are different because you can sing better than most, is not the way to go if you want to grow as a mature human being.

Wew, difficult message ain't it?

Thats what Mob is doing if you remove your rose-colored glasses.

>I thought the moral of the show was that combat superpowers aren't all that useful in modern society, unless you want to be a criminal.
What is the point of such moral? There are no superpowers. Also thats just not true, especially for someone as strong as Mob.

>You think that's also just advancing yourself and nothing wrong with it?
It's a way to advance yourself regardless of whether it's right or not. It's not a children's game.

Sounds like a message to comfort bitter losers.

No, the message is "If you can sing better than most, don't ever sing unless forced, don't think about career in show business, instead try to impress others with dancing, esprecially if you have сerebral palsy.

Aight, you reminded me to finish reading the manga.

I'm happy for mob. He's a better person now.

Psychic powers = money
If you're a rich brat who uses money for everything in life you're gonna be screwed over.
However, if you conceal the fact you have incredible sums of money any relationships you build with people will be genuine.

>Being this delusional

Genuine relationship with tax department.

One phrase for your version. Mob's whole life story for mine.
