SHIN JUNGLE NO OJA TAR-CHAN
>Plot: Tarzan parody with Tar-chan being pervert and lazy and Jane being a fatass
>Then it becomes action and adventures with Tar-chan getting 3 pals ala Stardust Crusaders
>Great influence for One Piece, Oda was an assistant there

youtube.com/watch?v=kufxUrBiks8

ROKUDENASHI BLUES

>Did you notice we're still in the MANly age?
>Iconic delinquent manga
>42 volumes, like Dragon Ball if I recall well
>HUGE SUCCESS
>It didn't get an anime but it got an OVA, plus tons of live adaptations

youtube.com/watch?v=JuGhGvjDAhw

I forgot:

>Plot: Taison Maeda, a delinquent who wants to become a boxer world champion

MAGICAL TARURUTO-KUN

>Plot: Honmaru Edojou, an user who summons a magical being
>Taruuruto was like Doraemon, with magical tools which could change the genre of a person, or look throught clothes
>Remember Golden Boy? Same author of this

youtube.com/watch?v=oQeGh5QcFQ0

DRAGON QUEST: DAI NO DAIBOKEN

>Plot: adventures of Dai, a young boy who is destined to fight against the demon king
>Homage to RPGs of these years
>This got a lots of sales. And Shueisha is still in ownership of this instead Square Enix
>Biggest not apocalyptic fantasy world ever (without counting Dragon Ball)
>I'm mad as fuck anime did animated only two-three first arcs

youtube.com/watch?v=cJUeqKpReOk

VIDEO GIRL AI
>Katsura is back!
>Plot: user got his dreams crushed, then rents a video, then gets a waifu
>DNA2 was after this, surprisingly with so little success

youtube.com/watch?v=xciqG4eLDAE

HANA NO KEIJI: KUMO NO KANATA NI

>Tetsuo Hara art (remember, Hokuto no Ken)
>Plot: MANLY story about Sengoku period
>Wasn't as big as other titles, but sold a lot

SLAM DUNK

>BIGGEST SPORTS SHONEN
>It sold in Japan even more than Dragon Ball
>Plot: Hanamichi Sakuragi, punk who joins basketball club to impress a girl. Manliness in basketball
>Was so huge Shonen Jump lost 2 million readers when it ended

youtube.com/watch?v=nadLmrr4fUM

Bump

YU YU HAKUSHO

>Ey, it's Togashi! He's here!
>Plot: High school delinquent Yusuke Yurameshi dies. Then he becomes a Spirit Detective
>Bleach was very influenced by this
>Didn't get any hiatus
>Still, Togashi suddenly ended it

youtube.com/watch?v=pK-9pAEmN9g

>It sold in Japan even more than Dragon Ball
Bullshit

KYUKYOKU!! HENTAI KAMEN

>Plot: user who becomes an hero when he puts some panties over his face and a pair of loins to cover his man part
>Parody of sentai series
>Was cancelled, then got even more popular than when it was in Jump, and got adaptations

He means per volume (2 million). The record was only surpassed almost ten years later, by One Piece.

HARELUYA II BOY

>Plot: Hareluya Hibino who dreams with world domination, helps people and fights against enemies
>Not so big as other titles but sold very well
>Lasted all the decade

Katsura never cared for romcom. Action was more his thing. But the editor convinced him to change his mind. And then... success! Plus: he had suffered an accident years before and changed his drawing style while in hospital.

That's all for all. I think 1983-88 had more relevant titles, still this got Rokudenashi Blues, Yu Yu Hakusho and Slam Dunk

Also, if you notice, ALMOST ALL manga of this age have a delinquent high school student as main character

Honorable mentions: Chinyūki: Tarō to Yukai na Nakama-tachi (parody that for some reason is now in all Jump games of this decade), Outer Zone, Bon Bon Zakakō Kōen Geki-bu, Pennant Race: Yamada Taichi no Kiseki

>Didn't get any hiatus
Don't lie to me.

>an user who summons a magical being
>user
Excuse me, what?

Lineup of this age, the one that was the basis of the 6,7 million volumes record

>Dragon Ball (Z)
>Dragon Quest: Dai no Daiboken
>JoJo (Stardust Crusaders)
>Hana no Keiji: Kumo no Kanata Ni
>Saint Seiya/Yu Yu Hakusho
>Rokudenashi Blues
>City Hunter/Hareluya Boy
>Shin Jungle No Oja Tar-chan
>Slam Dunk
>The baseball manga
>Video Girl Ai
>Magical Taruruto-kun
>Kochikame
>Moeru Onisan

>ALMOST ALL manga of this age have a delinquent high school student as main character
I want to go back.

I wish to read this masterpiece.

This is an underrated jewel. If I recall, MC best friend was a guy who wanted to become a painter in France.

I liked the first series better.

>JoJo Stardust Crusaders MC is a delinquent high school student
>Yu Yu Hakusho MC is a delinquent high school student
>Rokkudenashi Blues MC is a delinquent high school student
>Hareluya Boy MC is a delinquent high school student
>Slam Dunk MC is a a delinquent high school student

Welp

I love the anime version, is cliche but done right

These threads are giving me mixed feelings.

3/18 translated

SLAM DUNK

>156 Million copies sold in Japan
>Average 3.7 Million copies sold per volume

>0:52

Keep the good work user, i really love this stuff.

>>Homage to RPGs of these years
Put your shit together, user-kun, this was a manga adaptation of fucking Dragon Quest.

This manga is actually great, even as someone who didn't grow up with Dragon Quest

Has a fantastic dub and arguably the best tournament arc ever

>>Didn't get any hiatus
Get the fuck out of here.
This one is hilarious, i highly recommend it.
Is the most basic shit out there but stills manages to be very fun, also it was fucking huge in the late 90s here in South America

I watched Yu Yu Hakusho and Slam Dunk when I was a kid. This was also the age of Dragon Ball Z.

Nostalgia is hitting me.

>Bleach was very influenced by this
Kubo stated that Saint Seiya was his primary influence for Bleach.

Yes. Still, MC dying and becoming a ''shinigami'', you can see that from Yu Yu Hakusho

This opening I swear

youtube.com/watch?v=2l9V2ejc6OY

Roku blues was jump, huh....

>There never will be delinquent MC ever again
Fucking japs and their shitty betafaggot MCs

there are delinquent MCs
there aren't Badass delinquent MCs
Everything is sanitized now.

Best Jump manga of all time.

There are delinquent MCs. They're just not in Jump manga and also not in manga being translated.

champion still has some
god bless em
Rokudou's entourage also sort of counts.

aw yeah here we go

damn that's a solid lineup.

I've been reading alot of katsura's stuff lately, I liked Zetman and DNA2 but didn't like I''s.

Didnt know he made something for jump after fist of the north star thats cool

First and favorite sports manga I read. The characters and there relationships are really well done, they're bros instead of fags and fujobait like haikyuu, and kuroko.

Kek

>MC dying and becoming a ''shinigami''
Well technically Ichigo never died he was given powers by Rukia which turned him into a Shinigami in the first chapter.

the live action movie of this is fantastic. Same guys who did the most recent Gintama movie.

>they're bros instead of fags and fujobait

Didn't stop fujos from drawing tons of porn though.

I guess the better wording would be is that slamdunk doesn't have as strong fujobait. Like when I read kuroko i see are fancy tricks and fujobait first and then the characters and sports second.

Honestly, I think it's more that female readers don't actually require that much provocation.

Oh boy the next threads are going to be really something. We're reaching territory non-oldfags will recognize.

Fuck you, I ain't old.

Delinquent bump

My favorite manga, is so fucking good.

this has been a interesting read user. keep up the good work.

And Gegege no Kitaro

Some recommended a Super Eyepatch Wolf video last thread about this subject (80s of Manga), I just want to say, I hated the video, and I hate that "prog" Anglo. It was not good and it always bothers me that they think they can sum up history with their own opinionated bias.

Considering the origin of his channel is getting butthurt at z-tier YouTubers hating his favorite anime and wanting to prove them wrong,

Why did this never get a fucking TV anime?
Anime remake when, especially since it was so big in Japan, come on, you Nip fucks.
One of the few WSJ manga that does not need an anime remake since it has a perfect adaptation, I consider the anime to be better than the manga to be fair.

If they did do more stuff for YYH i hope its the early ghost chapters and the kurama hiei meeting.

>part 4 jojo
It's interesting to see how jojo evolved alongside the magazine

LEGENDS ONLY

>Why did this never get a fucking TV anime?
Too cool for anime, literally no studio is capable of doing a worthy adaptation.

Friendly reminder this was done by Golden Boy madman

This manga was so fucking good. I reread at least one time every year.

You are a wise user

I was recently disappointed to find the anime untranslated.

> still no remake anime
Fuck. By the way, god tier manga.

No delinquent can get a TV anime.

Since Toei did the original anime, the anime remake would be from Toei, right? Fuck that, I'd rather have no remake than some low effort shit from Toei.

Nobody even cares about the adaption we get.

>Why did this never get a fucking TV anime?

>Literally took a black athlete and gave him a Japanese name
Glorious.

I was surprised how large black representation the series of the time had, especially compared to modern day series. Considering about half of what I've seen were boxers of some sort, the american boxing scene must've really left an impression on them.

Tensai

This one's great, I wish they would fish scanlating it.

God bless, the story might be cheesy as fuck but it's still a masterpiece on all fronts.

Unironically the fucking GOAT. Morita could have never drawn anything after this and he'd still be in contention for best mangaka of all time because of RokuBlues.

Still surprised this ended up being a big WSJ title. It isn't bad, and given when it came out it wasn't exactly generic, but I would have thought competition other much bigger titles would have affected it's popularity, but it still cracked the top 3 rankings sometimes.

>tfw the Jump delinquent boom is dead.
Why can't we go back bros.

I imagine Morita's artwork would be hard to translate to anime since a lot of it was more detailed than it needs to be. The Manga was successful enough to be a big hit without an anime anyway so no loss really.

It's sad that we never got an anime adaptation of RokuBlues with OP and ED by The Blue Hearts though but we don't deserve such perfection.

They were used more often because no one was scared of offending by making blackface or stereotypes.

This.

Even in late night anime some channels will self-censor teen characters doing delinquent stuff.

This is how Hanamichi looks with Inoue's style nowadays.

It's a light silly read, it can be enjoyable if you know what you're getting into. A goofy and rather tame story were the MC is the strongest and will solve any problem through fighting and he's also a bit of an ass. The art is also consistently top notch.

It's also 20x shorter.

You retards would just complain about every mnga from Jump being the same which was a common complaint about Jump in the 00s where every title was a battle shounen or would have become one. Also delinquents are old news

Not to mention that despite being 30 volumes long I didn't think it dragged that much. There was only arc near the end which I felt was a chore to read but the rest was alright. The MC was really likeable for some reason.

>We're reaching territory non-oldfags will recognize.
Thank God. I really hope OP doesn't fag it up in the next few threads because all the titles that come out within the next decade are very relevant to the people who post here.

So this was the delinquent era. Why won't it come back, why must we live like this.

Because he was your usual heart of gold delinquent with sprinkles of assholishness and god complex.

Complaining about everything being a battle shounen is a valid complaint though. Delinquent Manga is a sub genre of Manga, they are just characters and they can and have been in everything from battle shounen, gag Manga, sports Manga and romance.

Not to mention they were cool as fuck, as evidenced by the fact that WSJ was selling shit loads at this time.

>Why won't it come back
Because it was as uninspired as the macho era. One thing I can say about Jump nowadays is that there's a shit ton of variety in the titles compared to yesteryears.

The best selling titles in the 90's weren't even delinquent manga. Hell Jump lost its sales to Sunday not because it had delinquent manga but because of fucking Detective Conan.

Even Japs think delinquents look lame nowadays. It was a fad that died off and was as goofy as the rap culture in the 00s.

The fuck? There was a lot of variety in this era too, just going by the titles OP posted. There's gag, romance, fantasy, sports, and historical manga.

is op going to do a pastebin with all these titles? i'd love to try reading some of them when i have time, but i'm not somewhere that will allow me to make note of them right now.

I mean, that isn't true, series with delinquent MCs sold well enough to be considered mega hits. Don't know what more you want, they can't all be the biggest seller of the whole country.

Also who gives a shit with modern japs have to think about anything, they have the shittest taste in everything.

Nah, trends always appear and everyone rides the same waves. Now and always.

>I liked Zetman and DNA2 but didn't like I''s.
In terms of romcom, for me, I"s is the best Jump ever made.

Change the subject all you want, you know he was right with delinquents not being the same as battle shonen and what you were spouting.

>There was a lot of variety in this era too
Thanks for the laugh>series with delinquent MCs sold well enough to be considered mega hits.
One Piece was the biggest hit of the 90's and wasn't a delinquent manga . Slam Dunk isn't a deliquent manga either.

The Japan has shit taste meme never gets old
No he wasn't. Genere oversatuaration is still oversatuattion you just prefer deliquent manga over battle shounen
