Why didn't he just transmute his own superior automail limbs?

Why didn't he just transmute his own superior automail limbs?

Alchemy is bad at fine details.

He made a working radio no problem.

They wanted to make a person, so there’s no reason he couldn’t make an arm, except that it gave Winry something to do. It’s a minor issue

radio is simple shit.

I don't fucking remember it's been 10 years man

Why did the military fund him for his primitive chimera research when they already made chimera supersoldiers themselves?

Why did they call him Fullmetal when he was on 1/3rd metal?

I just remembered that Winry was really cute.

Plausible deniability. If it looks like the research is rudimentary, then nobody expects that the fuhrer is an abomination

It's a meme.

It's like a big game of telephone. The villagers see the giant "full metal" suit of armor possessed by the soul of a child and assume that it was him that did all the heavy lifting.

He'd have to understand how an entire automail is put together and what each part does.

The outside was broken and some parts were too, is not like they made every single component of it
Why is his younger brother much more handsome?

Yeah, he routinely makes cannons and shit, and also made a human

Did he have an expert's understanding on building cars?

Alphonse took after his mother

He didn't even build the car. He just changed the outside appearance.
The human was barely functional, and a cannon is way simpler than a metal limb that has probably hundreds of moving parts.

The limbs were a painful reminder of the injustice done to his younger brother. He didn't ever really care about getting his arm and leg back. He only said that around others because he was ashamed. He only wanted an alleviation of guilt.

The human only sucked because it didn’t have a soul, which was part of the mythos of the show. The parts themselves were fairly accurate, if twisted. Automail would have been relatively simple by comparison.

>The outside was broken and some parts were too

Looks completely intact to me.

More like he recomposed the radio to a previous unbroken state.

Because his were supposedly made WITHOUT using humans. Intelligent chimeras that don't require human components would be big shit.

>and also made a human
Yeah, after how that turned out I get why he prefers to have an expert dealing with his prosthetics.

He's saying he only had to fix some faulty shit, not make the radio from scratch. Also, was in the first chapter, so who fucking cares.

Humans naturally contain the blueprints to make humans.

So couldn't he do the same for his broken automail?

The case of human transmutation always felt like they were following some cooking recipe from the books.

It never felt like the brothers exactly knew the buildup of a complete human. Like they just created a bunch of materials in the microwave and made a shitload of stem cells out of that and somehow expected it all to turn into their mom

An automail is much more complex than a radio.
Even if Ed knows how to make one, it doesn't mean it will be superior because he's an Alchemist, not an Engineer.

this, old radios are just a couple wires and some magnets

just needed to re solder some components

Nothing about any form of human transmutation made sense, whether it was creating new life or healing people.

Also, why the fuck was Father the only homunculus that was ever made in the series? Was Xerxes really that far ahead of the rest of the world in alchemy?

>why the fuck was Father the only homunculus that was ever made in the series? Was Xerxes really that far ahead of the rest of the world in alchemy?
I kind of just assumed their was something special about Hohenheim.

Probably just a broken wire. I doubt he made a functioning oscillator circuit or something.

Remember to replace the toupee in your old radios, Sup Forums. It's something a lot of people forget but the sound quality and reception really improves when you swap out that old, dried-out toupee for a new one.

A cannon is just a big metal tube.

fuck you can make a simple morse code radio transmitter with a long peice of wire, something acidic and 2 dissimilar pieces of metal. Radios are simple as fuck.

how did he turn his arm back into an arm every time he turned it into a sword then?

He only manipulated the outer layer "Skin". He didn't mess up anything inside the arm.

because alchemy requires something personal hence tried to bring his mom back cost an arm and a leg and his brothers physicial form almost lost his bro altogether if not anchored his soul to suit of armor...

he wasnt the only homunculus in the series the homunculus ended up with his arm and leg he lost in the first place so the thing is something of equal or greater value when using alchemy..

OP, you're severely underestimating the fine details that go into designing, creating, and maintaining automail and prosthetics in general. Have you never seen the scene during the last fight with Father in mangahood where Ed's automail is destroyed? There are tiny screws, multiple bundles of wires, and it probably involves some real world techniques like taping cables to muscle. Not to mention, one of the defining points of attachment of the prosthetic is a screw inserted in his collarbone. Alchemy can be precise like shown with Alphonse. However, Arakawa herself said that Edward is less precise with transmutation, which is why alchemy marks on his transmutations are more obvious. Plus, like some others in this thread have said, to transmute something, you must have an inside-out understanding of what you want to transmute. The radio is a moot point still, because once again, like others have said, old radios were kind of just a bunch of fucking magnets and wires.
TLDR Winry is the only one smart enough to understand these prosthetic fuckeries

Didn't he constantly use alchemy on his automail to the point it would break down after so many transmutations?

>Followed instructions in a book.
>Made shit that did nothing.
Would he be an underaged poster on Sup Forums?
