Mecha anime

>mecha anime
>the mechs are actually the least interesting part of the show
>every other piece of equipment is infinitely cooler and more interesting
>gay ass mechs steal 75% of the screentime

Every damn time. Only example I can think of that avoids this is Eva since the mechs aren't quite mechs.

the question is why are so few space anime without mecha?

>caring about the story
>caring about the characters
>not just watching to see badass mechs shoot lasers

lmao, go drink your rice milk

This is how you get abortions like Franxx

Agree. For example, a tank is more interesting than a giant robot.

>i worship hideaki anno and make threads on Sup Forums about how awesome he is and i have only watched 20 anime

NGE will always be one of the best anime. But sure, keep being butthurt that your favourite won't even be remembered in 10 years.

There is plenty though.

>NGE will always be one of the best anime
For idiots like you, yes.

>But sure, keep being butthurt that your favourite won't even be remembered in 10 years.
It will be remembered by people who aren't complete morons like yourself, as has been the case for the last 15 years.

>being a sub-80 IQ pleb that only cares for flashy lights and nothing else

Also I do want to see space battles, which is why I complain about the mechs: they're boring, plain, and shit compared to just about every other piece of military equipment in most mecha anime. I'd much rather watch the other machinery do the battling than those fucking mechs.

>so contrarian he has to shit on NGE

Sure Shinji is a shit and you just want him to go off screen as soon as possible, but the rest more than makes up for his scenes.

I'm not shitting on NGE at all, but it's hardly a surprise that's the interpretation your tiny brain came up with. I was just correctly highlighting your stupidity.

>trying this hard to sound smart and victorious

What colour is your fedora?

You need more GUNDAM in your life.

This would be 5x better with space fighters not glorified toy adverts.

Name 5 (go)

Sorry user, but those gunplas pay the bills.

Real talk, while I don't care for bipedal mecha (especially in space), space fighters aren't really that interesting either.

>Mouretsu Pirates
...Why are there so few GOOD space anime without mecha?

If you know some, could you tell me what they are? I'd actually really like to watch them.

To be fair there are tons of space anime without mecha. I still hope Seikai gets a remake one day. It's probably the best japanese space opera.

>remake
Fuck that, continue the story from where it left off.

They are much more interesting than teenagers fighting in plastic toys with giant laser swords. There is a reason why mecha is dying so fast.

You know it's not happening. New manga getting new anime is much more likely.

Just ignore /m/, OP. Chances are these shitters live in a country where the most prominent name is Muhammad or a Latin American shithole that tried communism in the past.

That really depends on the fighter though. Generally, even when getting sidelined, I've seen way more interesting designs on fighters and tanks than mechs themselves.

The most popular threads on /m/ are mecha musume. It really says a lot about the state of mecha today.

>mfw no space opera isekai.

>They are much more interesting than teenagers fighting in plastic toys with giant laser swords.
You're preaching to the converted. It's just that, if we're dreaming up hypotheticals, I'd rather go a step beyond.

>laser swords
I fucking hate beam sabres. I legitimately kept watching IBO just because I loved the solid, weightier melee weapons. No, it was not worth it.

But mooooooooooooom

You're probably right. Though I think you can make interesting designs out of anything, really - even as a mecha detractor, there are some mecha designs I quite like.

i'm ready to defect to my abh overlords anytime

I'm not trying at all. Again, that interpretation of yours just further proves your idiocy. I guess you must be used to people putting you down.

Kinda sucks Nadia will forever be overshadowed by Eva even though the mechs are cooler than anything in Eva and the show is much better as well

What's the fucking point of mecha in space anyways? Like why even bother giving them legs.

>autism
You're missing the point faggots.
Fuck no on both counts.

Because they look cool? Mecha barely make sense on the ground either anyways.

I would unironically love the fuck out of a sci-fi isekai, I am not even kidding. With alien abductions a well-established thing in sci-fi, why is this so rare, both in Japan and outside it?

It seems like the kind stuff it writes itself. Random loser get's kidnapped by aliens/future people and is put in charge of an ovepowered spaceship (who's crew happen's to be cute girls mostly) and now he has to save the galaxy.

Soreyuke! Uchuu Senkan Yamamoto Yohko is sorta similar. Not quite the same, they maintain contact with the old world all the way, and no harem, but it's about a girl that gets brought to the future to pilot spaceships because of her awesome video game skills

LotGH

Is the remake good?

I always enjoyed Armored Core more than Gundam. The mechs in AC always felt a lot more weightier. You could also make ACs that look more like tanks or hovercraft. Too bad it wouldn't make a good anime.

I know right! It's almost TOO easy! I guess because it'd be too easy to have the random loser get back to earth? But that can easily be handwaved aside with some kind of hyperspace accident or something. Maybe it's because they can't shoehorn JRPG mechanics into a sci-fi that's mostly connected to our universe.

Okay that's one I guess, but you'd think there'd be way, way more!

Also, ew: abducted for video game skills... Still, that makes more sense in a sci-fi than anywhere else I suppose.

Aaand that's going on my 'to watch' list. Totally forgot that was a thing.

t. deranged NEET

>watch mecha
>actually want mechs
>there's as many mech moments as you want

*not as many mech moments

>he

Instant shit. The age of male leads is long over unless you want fujos.

Women don't belong in a robot you soyboy.

>soyboy

That's an awful nice looking machine you got there, would be a shame if something happened to it.

...

Aside from Eva, Code Geass was the only Mecha show to get me genuinely interested in the Mecha designs in the early episodes (mainly on those ski-like movements and the grappling claws), then they ruined it by making everything go Super Robot because they creeped the power too early with the Guren+Kallen combo (which would probably beat Lancelot Mk.1+Suzaku in a straight fight).

I was pretty bummed. All the strategy from the earlier fights also started to disappear at a similar time. I guess they just ran out of ideas?

Muv-Luv Unlimited/Alternative are technically Isekai, although protag knows everybody in the "new world" beforehand.

Also this is technically a spoiler but honestly it's impossible to talk about Muv-Luv without revealing that it gets sci-fi in the second part.

FMP is the only mecha show that's on CG S1 level.

You also missed out the part where Muv-Luv Alterative is hot, rancid garbage that thinks shock value and killing ur waifu makes it interesting, rather than edgy as fuck.

Don't forget the garbage MC who is ace pilot because video games. Or mechas that make 0 fucking sense in setting.

t. braindead morons.

Gundam is trash.

Mecha sell toys. Space ships don't.

Are you legit retarded? Star Wars sold much more ship toys that Gundam ever did gunpla. Hell, Star Trek probably has Gundam beat too.

Spaceship musume would be fine, too.

I really wish Daiteikoku would get anime series. Concept is so ridiculously good.

If Nanoha or Fate could evolve into such a franchise from a crappy porn game this definitely also could.

Something like Vandread or Galaxy Angel without male MC would work better.

Japan doesn't give two shits about Star Wars or Star trek.

>don't like mecha anime
>complain about it on Sup Forums
>claim Evangelion isn't a mecha anime
sasuga newfag-sama

i really hate lolis but this design is nice

>code geass is the only show with sliding mechas

You are retarded if you actually believe that. Gundam was heavily influenced by Star Wars and they make the best and most expensive SW toys on the planet.

>mecha anime
>almost everything is mecha
>it's all cool as shit

Star Wars is huge in Japan.

I think the mechs in Muv Luv/Schwarzesmarken are pretty cool, as they are based on planes, and aren't generic gundams
Huge picture, sorry

The only thing a space ship can do is move around and shoot. A mech can do so much more

Gall Force
Sol Bianca
LotGH
Dallos
Harlock
Yamamto

Sounds like you need some Heroic Age.

>there are "anime fans" on this board RIGHT NOW who have never seen Yoshiyuki Tomino's masterpiece, Mobile Suit Gundam
explain yourselves

The fact that Gundam is the first thing that pops to your tiny brain just further reinforces your stupidity. This is why you Evangelion fanboys are always laughed at; you watch it and think it's the be all and end all, and the only alternative is something widely known like Gundam.

This pissed me off so much with Gargantia.
It would've been fine if we got off that fucking beach planet but no, we can't have nice things now can we?
I just want an anime that has advanced technology on the level of Culture or Ringworld and for it to do something with it instead of just using it as some fluff for the setting that is never mentioned again, is that too much to ask?

Like what? Fight with swords? That's incredibly dumb in a setting with lasers and other shit.

Mechas exist so angsty teens can have shonen battles in "serious" sci-fi settings.

>on the level of Culture or Ringworld

Two things that the Japanese are nearly oblivious too user. You'd have better luck of them making Three Body Problem into an anime...and that's from China.

I would watch it, but I have no idea where the hell to start; there's a lot of different series, some are continuous and others are alternate universes or something too? Give me some pointers here and I'll see if it actually holds up under a modern look.

I had a model of Gundam Heavy Arms back before I even knew what anime was

Because this stuff is so common in western movies.

Anime at least had giant colonies in soaring cakes or Frontier or the megastructure in Valvrave.

Most of these ideas were taken from older golden age works.

I tried and hated it. Not a single Gundam series I tried was good. Some were laughably bad.

Macross is so much better.

>eva is the exeption
Sasuga.

Literally everything in fiction was inspired by something.

EVA is not even real mecha. They are magical kaijus with pilots.

Now don't get me wrong here since I love me a good tank, but there isn't much you can do to make a metal box with guns sticking out interesting. If anything, they're great because they aren't flashy or interesting. They're just another war machine that's good at doing it's job.

>not a mecha show
>has mecha fights
Really makes me think

the first, and best, gundam show is simply called mobile suit gundam, you can watch the movie trilogy or the 43 episode show, although people will get mad if you watch the movies

The megastructure in valvrave infuriated me to no end.
They claimed it was a Dyson Sphere but it didn't even cover the fucking sun. Hell, it wasn't even a Dyson Swarm, it was just a glorified space station.
And then there's the fact they decided to retcon that halfway through the second season and claimed it was around an artificial star. First of all, were the fuck did you get the materials for that and second of all, why make a red dwarf to build a Dyson Sphere around when you have a perfectly good sun in the middle of your solar system?

>red by people who aren't complete morons like you
People with your shitposting will be forgotten. The Show's merits stand on its own and will be remembered because of it.

is aura battler dunbine not mecha then either?
is Gasaraki mecha?

>look like mecha
>act like mecha
>used as mecha
Shittiest technicality in anime.

Is Godzilla mecha?

More like Ultraman.

Does Godzilla have a cockpit where a pilot resides?

Especially with the rebuilds. damn, if anything needed a remake it's Nadia. What a ride.minus island/Africa arc

Yes, by complete and utter morons like yourself. The same kind of morons who remember movies like Titanic for the same reasons.

Supposedly there is director's cut version that removes 3/4 of the filler.

>valvrave

Thats your problem user.

Not an argument. Its just hard to find anything aside from Starship Troopers that Japanese don't think of doing.

On that note, The human-bio-mech's in Nadia was something else, if only suggested.

>The same kind of morons who remember movies like Titanic for the same reasons.
how so? your shitposting is just crap; no effort involved.

more like an hours worth of content, only 15 minutes remained from 11 episodes.
