Basically, if you want swordsmen to beat modern armies, you need them to basically be literally superhuman. And that that point it isn't a medieval army anymore, it would just be a fantasy army where superpowers were common and cheap.

What, I didnt say nothing about mages shooting shit. The idea is simple: They use mages to make magic shields. Then the infantry advance to the trenches where the JSDF is. At this point the smart thing to the JSDF is to retreat, but losing the base means that they still has to find a way to take the base again, this time from the gate of the portal. By then the Imperial army must have take weapon left behind and prisioners who teach them how to use them. And you can imagine hundred of scenarios like that.

You are completely ignoring the fact that, by trying to buff up a medieval army, you LOSE the medieval army. If mages are plentiful and powerful, then swordsmen and knights are expensive junk that should be gotten rid of.

Ok, so you have mages who make magic shields that stop bullets and arrows. You dont win war just with that. If you want to take a city, you still need infantry and cavalry. In a medieval world, something like that would be useful to stop the archers and catapults. So just that part of the medieval army is lost.
Even if said shield was made, I doubt it can stop the concussive force of an explosive. Also if it were to stop a bullet, the energy of the bullet would have to transfer somewhere. meaning that all the force would be exerted onto the person, similar to a Kevlar vest.

Because knights and his arms and armor are fucking expensive. To feed a horse, you cannot feed several peasants. At a certain point you have to ask the medieval army, how are they funding all it? Feudal economies are no where near as efficient or large as a modern economy.
The Goa'uld at least got away with it by using off screen automated factories and slave labor for mining. Even then, they had spaceships and orbital supremacy. The closest you can get with a fantasy army is flying magical galleons and flying mounted animals. Which will just get fucked up by SPAAGs and manpads.

The gods of GATE are deliberately manipulating both sides. On JSDF's end, they prevent the Japanese from refining oil or build any kind of factory in the Empire land. On the Empire's end, they deliberately prevent the enhancement of magic via science from being published.
And how does the gods do that?
Through Rory. Rory HAS to obey the gods, and that meant she personally sabotaged the oil refinery, and threatened to kill Lelei if she actually publishes her research. Rory doesn't personally want to do either of these things, but she physically can't disobey her god.

Well I'm not sure about the lolis but they definitely meet magic elves with resurrection magic and a lot of alien species, including manlet norse gods.
So the plot to stargate isn't THAT different, and arguably did more interesting things with the premise.
All the other, better ones have been mentioned already. Right now I can only think of ZnT and that one anime where he's teaching weeaboo culture to a combined demi and human classroom. This one's a long stretch tho, it appears that the other world is still pretty powerful with their magic, and it doesn't focus on action.

This reminds me of 12 Kingdoms novels, where the fantasy world is essentially "Intelligently Designed". And the result is that evolution and natural selection doesn't happen, because no one is actually fertile. Sex is purely for entertainment, and you get babies by praying for one and harvest the child from an egg on a tree. A world where chickens lay eggs specifically for the eggs to be eaten by humans, and for no other purpose.
GATE world is far less weird than 12 Kingdoms. GATE's world is basically a garden that the gods maintain and control. JSDF's entry into the world was actually deliberately engineered by the gods, and as such what they can or cannot do is determined by the gods. The gods are controlling the tech level of the GATE world for shits and giggles.

Different worlds, different sets of benefits and problems. They probably have shorter life spans. Violent death is probably a large portion of their deaths. If not, they die slowly of disease, plagues and such. They also probably experience more famines.

If you replace "fantasy race" with "aliens" the only thing Stargate is missing from this list is the loli death goddess. All of these things have been done to death hundreds if not thousands of times in other stories and media. Assembling these elements into a new combination is easy. What's really important is the plot, the needs and motivations of the characters. There are plenty of other stories that try to do something similar to GATE, but they all suck because they don't do anything interesting with the premise. Isekais are especially guilty of this.

Ah yes, Zipang was one of the time-travel military stomping done right. Even if most of the fights are still one sided, however the story is still able to maintain tension through valid reasons like sheer number difference, irreplaceable parts and ammo limitation. Also the fact that one direct hit from the WW2 cannon will spell doom for the lightly armored missile cruiser increased the stake. It is a shame that manga is way to serious. It had zero trace of the anime faggotry that is abundantly added to Gate (fan service, loli, harem). That's probably the reason why Zipang was forgotten rather quickly. If there is a series that could combine the tension and seriousness of Zipang and a dose of Gate's anime faggotry/Justice porn we could have a much better balanced military stomping anime/manga on our hands.
