What's with all the melodrama in Violet Evergarden? Are they really expecting me to feel any sort of emotion when everyone acts like they're in a mexican telenovela?

Yes. They expect you to like it. Now shut up and look at the pretty pictures.

Violets are not roses.

I don't think that word means what you think it means

Shut up nerd

This. OP screwed up.

Okay that one just doesn't work

>a sensational dramatic piece with exaggerated characters and exciting events intended to appeal to the emotions.

This perfectly describes the show

the characters are as interesting as from madoka.

bland and boring, with no personality of their own and no feeling of sadness when they all died and turned witches. oh and then somehow one that was turned witch somehow got turned back to normal...somehow, and that one also has a gem they can use but not others because plothole.

oh and there are still witches left to kill.
Think about that plot and this plot, kyon gotta get their shit toghether or they turn out shit like shaft in terms of animation soon enough.

It's a seiyuu joke nerd.

How old is Iris anyway? The scene where she locks herself in her room crying like a baby because her old crush showed at the party was kind of pathetic, you are supposed to be over it after some years, she's not a teenager anymore. It's not even like he was her ex boyfriend, justifying such behavior.

Violet's tactless comments are the real gem of the show, I love that girl.

This is a serious thread, my friend. Go joke somewhere else.

>madoka
I agree, YuYuYu was better in every way.

the CUTEST

At least it has nice visuals.

...

I agree.

Thank you for your work user-san. I'll wait for the webm.

Why couldn't we get more stories like hers, that had some connection to the damn war which was supposed to have been so important?
Instead we got this shitty marriage woes melodrama, and that thing with the gold-digger in episode 2.
What the fuck are you doing Yoshida?

That's why you watch the Spanish dub

that's just women for you, bruh, probably the most realistic part in the anime

>melodrama

see

>exaggerated characters
>exciting events

>Netflix: the anime
any of you get that ISP notice yet?

The only thing I'll get from Netflix is 5 dollars

You're gonna keep watching it no matter what, so why should it matter?

Because I want this to be good, yes I'll keep watching.

Why should it be good if you're watching it anyway?

I like it. Am I an idiot for thinking this was going to be a battle shonen?

So maybe I missed it but is Violet some sort of robot or is it just late stage autism?

She's a child soldier that was never properly educated.

I guess you didn't really notice A PAIR OF FUCKING ROBOT ARMS.

yes

Speed watcher-kun, those are prosthetics because she lost her arms

VeG seems to fit the bill.

Just put her back in the war again
i'm sure those arms could fuck some shit up

>mexican telenovela
Nah, those are actually fun

La violeta de Guadalupe?

The only fucking thing Kyoanus is good at lately

didn't you watch the first episode m8,the war is over

Was Baioretto younger during that last flashback or is Girubetto tall?

>La Rosa de Siemprejardin

She was younger during that flashback.

D E S P A C I T O

Muh fucking sides

Nah, a telenovela would at least have screaming and people slapping each other and it would be hilarious. This is just mopey instagram shit

OH FUCK

This is something I'm feeling at the moment as well, though it's still early and I so far remain capable of sincerely responding to what I'm seeing.

Violet's highly latent and emotionally terse characterization is adding to the the melodrama quotient. With the overhanging deep gloom following the war still so thick and the bleeding, even though ended for now on the killing fields, so obviously continuing at full flow on the psychological level, both for her and a war ravaged population, it certainly doesn't need the direct references it's receiving from Claudia.

The pressure is on at this point not to force the drama any further.
But I'm still impressed by the seriousness with which the series has been undertaken. The degree to which it may overshoot in dramatic flourish will be offset by the fact its thematic and formal aims are high.

Fuck off wetback.

Both

¿Violeta Siemprejardín?
