I said he could draw well; his character designs before Super were excellent. His characters are distinct and striking, instantly recognizable as his own. But I disagree that it has "great visual storytelling" beyond that. Toriyama always went out of his way to have fights be in wastelands to save on drawing times. The fight choreography goes down the tubes once we get to Namek. Almost everyone has very similar looking ki-blast techniques. And that's before we get into the plot or the whole power level scaling.

I would not call Toriyama a master storyteller even if he is the most iconic mangaka of all time.
