You thought that it had some nice character moments and interesting concepts but ultimatly didn't live up the name of Devilman because it couldn't convey it's core message without seeming cheap and heavy handed while it tried too hard to appeal to modern viewers and had a shitty art style.

>Sup Forums

>had a shitty art style.
Back to your moeshit plebs.

I'M DEVILMAN
YOU BETTER FUCKING BELIEVE IT

Shitty art style
Shitty animation
Rushed as duck
Shits over the source material via modernization like Parasyte the Maxim

It's shit

The art style is shit. It's the opposite of what a Devilman anime should look like. Sure it works at times, but it doesn't fit a story about fighting demons and humanity giving in to it's worst side. Stupid yellow blood everywhere fucking dumb.
The OVAs did a way better job in that regard.

I enjoyed it. 80s OVAs were still better.

I'd love to see a complete and faithful adaptation of the series one day.

Keep your shit Sup Forums memes to Sup Forums

>Shitty art style
Normies who only watched genetic anime.
>Shitty animation
Better than your 10 frames per second anime
>Rushed as duck
Same pacing as the manga faggots.
>Shits over the source material via modernization like Parasyte the Maxim
90% faithful to the manga except some original characters. And Parasyte is good.

>normie
Defending Crybaby while calling people normie, spotted the newfag.

>10 frames per second anime
I take something like this over Crybaby any day.
sakugabooru.com/post/show/19530

>same pacing as the manga
You clearly didn't read the manga. They spend like 70 pages simply talking about demons in the first volume.

Cant you make these threads on Sup Forums or Sup Forums instead like all other netflix shows?

>live up the name of Devilman
The absolute state of 'muh source'-fags.

>not watching genetic anime

spot the missing chromosome

>It's the opposite of what a Devilman anime should look like
I agree, the original manga definitely didn't look simplistic and dumb as fuck

It was great, only elitist losers who are desperate to seem unique are bashing it.

The same trash who throw around terms like reddit and normie like they're scoring points. On a side note, the Devilman OVAs are pretty shit aside from the animation in Amon.

>dissing platform instead of product
What's next? Gonna blame NHK for producing all the shit?

Im not dissing netflix, it does a fine job propagating jewish values and making content for libertarian left americans.
I'm just wondering why talk about netflix shows on Sup Forums.

I watched Crybaby first, then read the manga. Crybaby is fucking gay, when I think of Devilman it won't be Crybaby with it's emotional twitter scene or the dumb as running.

It's a shitty looking 70s manga, sure.
But you're not actually gonna argue that Crybaby's style looks better or captures the spirit of the manga better than the OVAs?

Because they are made with jap production comitees by jap studios and jap directors?

>I take something like this over Crybaby any day.
Posted the OVAs with much larger budget than the TV shows. The same could be talked about Jojo series and OVAs or any anime out there.
>You clearly didn't read the manga. They spend like 70 pages simply talking about demons in the first volume.
They skipped some boring parts yes. Especially at the end the manga bored me.

Yes they are hired to make cartoons.

>first, then read the manga
I sure do believe you that after watching a 'fucking gay show' you went and read source.
You ain't fooling no one.

They aren't tho.
Devilman was produced entirely by Go's anniversary comitee. As are Maz movie and Cutie Honey.
The only influence netflix has on the shows is allowing more flexibility to shows due to allowing AO content compared to cable broadcasters.

>But you're not actually gonna argue that Crybaby's style looks better or captures the spirit of the manga better than the OVAs?

The OVAs capture the grimdark tone but not much else. Crybaby is more thematically complete from start to finish. Not to mention how the OVAs shit the bed hard on the ending.

Also, if you don't like the crazy running in Crybaby then there's no hope for you because that shit is just the right amount of absurd.

Anime are cartoon made by Japanese so...

> only influence
Yes and what about the influence on content the show cannot have? Oh you don't see it so it doesnt exist. Ok.

>But you're not actually gonna argue that Crybaby's style looks better or captures the spirit of the manga better than the OVAs?
Crybaby is its own thing with its own style. Trying to perfectly mimic the original manga was never the goal.

Moeshit isn't an art style or a genre. It isn't anything.

Something isn't generic just because it doesn't look like Yuasa, and 10 frames per second is not a standard framerate. 12 FPS is. And 12 FPS is very smooth. So I guess you have no idea what you're saying.

Netflix didn't hire them and they didn't make a cartoon.

>content show cannot have
Like what?

In general, do you think they don't influence what a show cannot have?
Can you think of any content japanese anime tend to have that american cartoons dont?

Anime and cartoons are two different kinds of animation.

underrated.

>what a show cannot have
Like what, user?

How about child porn.

What streaming or television company would allow it?

>Moeshit isn't an art style or a genre.
Are you sure about that?
>Something isn't generic just because it doesn't look like Yuasa
But it does. People are used to the usual art style and bash Devilman for being difference because "muh art style".

Crunchyroll?

Are you expecting it to have it?

>Are you sure about that?
Yes.

>But it does.
Makoto Shinkai's movies, for example, don't look like Yuasa. Yet they have an easily identifiable style. Shaft's shows have an easily identifiable style, but don't look like Yuasa.

>Crunchyroll streams child porn
I'm sure the source for this is coming any second now.

>Makoto Shinkai
Please his movies art style is genetic as fuck.
>Shaft
Sup Forums hates Shaft too you know.

>Please his movies art style is genetic as fuck.
No. He has a recognizable style.

>Sup Forums hates Shaft too you know.
Irrelevant.

Think they have monogatari in their catalogue.

What does Monogatari have to do with CP?

Why would anyone lie about that?
>if they think the manga is better they are just mad nostalgiafags
Is that it?

The only part where Crybaby benefits from it's destinct style is in the party scenes when everyone's on drugs going crazy. The flashy crazy visuals really work there. Them changing the music to electro stuff from how they were playing rock in the OVAs is something I like actually. Aside from that I don't think the style works that much, it could have been anything else and worked just as well. And the way the OVAs look is simply perfect for the fights.

Well the OVAs weren't finished so I'm not gonna argue for it's story. Don't like the OVAs that much anyways, overall Crybaby is better. The OVAs art style simply fits the Devilman story better.

The way Crybaby is structured is more complete than the OVAs and even the manga, I'd agree.
But the amount of stupid bullshit in Crybaby is just annoying.

It's not about mimicing it's about what fits the story.
A bright coloured, low detail Crybaby doesn't fit the end of the world.

YOU LOVED IT LIKE WE DID!!!!

You make a good argument for this thread belonging on Sup Forums.

What are you talking about and what does Devilman have to do with Sup Forums?

Well it clearly attracts people who don't watch anime and who don't know what monogatari is or what kind of content is in it because in fact it's actually a cartoon aimed at non-anime watchers.

>are just mad nostalgiafags
There was not a word about nostalgia. I talked about sourcefagging.
Adaptation stands entirely on it's own except for several scenes like 2 final timeskips which might be hard to grasp without knowing context.

Most people on Sup Forums don't watch anime or watch very little of it. Devilman is not a cartoon, it's an anime. Why are you claiming I don't know what Monogatari is?

>A bright coloured, low detail Crybaby doesn't fit the end of the world.
I actually think the apocalypse was better done in Crybaby than in the manga. You criticize the art for being "low detail" but it's a more realistic style. Therefore a lot of the emotional gut punches had more weight in Crybaby because the style wasn't as over the top as the manga. You say it doesnt fit as well. But I think that's pretty subjective.
