So I just watched Lucky Star and I must say it's probably one of the most underrated anime of its time. Not only did it revolutionize the anime industry but it tackled it head on. This show was a subtle commentary on not just anime but the culture surrounding it including otaku and Japanese culture as a whole. The themes are nuanced and go over many people's heads, for example one criticism of the show I see a lot is it's mundane and "about nothing". I hear it referred to as the Seinfeld of anime. Saying Seinfeld is a show about nothing misses the point entirely. Yes, the show "is about nothing" or is a show about the complex natural of society and social interaction and the rules which govern them? For example is one of Lucky Star's most iconic scenes Konata, Tsukasa and Miyuki are discussing different ways to eat a chocolate cornet but this scene has little do to with food as it does how the three girls approach life and their philosophies. Overall I'd say this is a must watch series, multiple viewings are needed to full grasp its message.

One of the best anime of Kyoani indeed, a shame that they are only doing shitty adaptations this last 6 years. I wish it was 2003 again to watch for the first time FMP and Fumoffu again.

That's why i always like to use nip equivalent kuukikei/nichijou-kei which is more strictly defined. But Sol is indeed about an overemphasis on mundane daily life in that there's no large conflicts and the focus is on how the characters are experiencing such a life in the moment

I actually remember watching Lucky Star about 10 years ago because someone somewhere suggested it was the Seinfeld of anime. I legitimately couldn't last more than 2 minutes before dropping it; it was so bad it was painful.
It's the most overhyped 6/10 i've ever seen. Yeah the girls are cute, so what? It isn't funny (besides Lucky channel), the designs are below average and overall it had a negative effect on the industry.
I think this anime was made to show dirty otakus who haven't spoken to people in years how communicating with other person looks like.
But seriously you are overthinking it. They are just talking about nothing. Strong sides of Lucky star is good character chemistry, jokes and references. My favorite part of the anime. It was worth soldiering on through the worst episodes just for Rucky Chaneru. The EDs in the 2nd cour were all fucking great too.
