Having watched the entire first movie, it feels like they just mashed the first half together while cutting very little, than realized they still had like 12 fucking episodes to go, panicked, then started cutting everything to the point entire episodes were getting condensed into single scenes.
In the end they probably should have just planned a fourth movie to give themselves more time.
