>Boogiepop's artist, who's been working on the series for decades, seemingly hadn't even seen the designs for the new series until the reveal. He really doesn't seem to like the direction the staff has taken and so he tried to contact Madhouse.
>But they ignored him on Twitter for long enough for him to explode against the look of the new anime.
I really hope Ogata get back his late 90s art style.
Josiah Powell
The old series is anime original. The writer thought Boogiepop wasn't fit for anime so he wrote an original continuation of the first LN. Don't expect Boogiepop Phantom.
Easton Adams
Well,at least I will be finally able to understand the context of the original spin off
David Ward
>director natsume might also be leaving because of this HAHAHAHAHA, good riddance now a real director can take over.
Colton Nguyen
That one guy puts it well, a common illustrator doesn't matter unless you're really famous.
>Credit of "original illustration" in light novel original animation is not uncommon thing. Tokyo Ravens, RAIL WARS! , Sakurada reset, etc., various animations are using credits "original illustration".
Joshua Wright
BASED.
Christopher Barnes
It's not a remake.
Henry Martinez
Are the novels fully translated? And where can I read them?
Julian Rodriguez
>It won't be another Ki- It's another Kino
David Peterson
who cares about the fucking artist? he's not the author. no one needs his approval.
he's just mad they didn't cut him a check.
Oliver Adams
Maybe old designs wouldn't work with the animation they want to go for.
Ryder James
Or maybe anime is porn and if something doesn't look fuckable it won't sell.
Ryder Thompson
Your link to translations doesn't seem to contain translations.
Anyway, I'm not particularly mad about the new style. Not quite as striking as the original, perhaps, but I'd still call it visually appealing. New boogie might suck, or it might not. I'm gonna give it the 3 episode rule.
Landon Adams
>implying old Kirima Nagi and Boogiepop aren't fuckable
Easton Morales
But Ogata doesn't draw in the old "not fuckable" style anymore.
Carson Bell
wow this looks nothing like the show i watched in the early 00's
the atmosphere is completely lacking
Nathaniel Roberts
That show was nothing like the light novels
Cooper Gray
who gives a shit
the old show is what the new anime will be compared to
Cooper Gutierrez
>who gives a shit Everyone except secondaries.
Justin Murphy
>the old show is what the new anime will be compared to Implying even a dozen people have actually watched it.
Gavin Campbell
>the old show is what the new anime will be compared to as if anyone's actually seen it
Leo Moore
It's not like the original was a modern classic or anything.
To be honest the illustrator for the novels is both a hack and a regular chad. I've had one contact with him and he was a royal pain in the butt. Why he even mad tho he didnt get included in 2000, 2018 should be no different.
>Setting a rule for watching anime Why? If you don't like it from the first episode, then drop it
Noah Roberts
But Natsume seems to be pretty good, I loved the hell out of ACCA.
Aaron Reyes
Because there was no twitter in 2000
Leo Anderson
Why the fuck should anyone care?
Grayson Price
Because it's rumored that the director may have stood down because of this
Lucas Gonzalez
What a beta
Hunter Evans
Got any source on that?
Jack Fisher
Only Ogata's tweet (and 5ch reactions). Would be great if someone who is very sure of their Japanese skills could translate.
E.g. what exact implications does or does not "こんなこと言ったら監督は辞めるんだってさ。" make
Carter King
Just a business bro

Brody Morris
I suppose Natsume leaving the production is possible, but it's not like it's his job to handle the business/publicity side of things. If the director dropped out of OPM2 for this, it seems like a pretty ambitious project and I hope Madhouse smooths things out.
Justin Butler
less people have read the novels than watched the original anime.
Ayden Long
Not in Japan.
Adrian Phillips
Honestly the anime designs aren't even that bad. It's what I would have imagined what a modern Boogiepop would look like anyway.
I'm not good at jap but I'm pretty sure it might be sarcasm.
Hudson Gutierrez
>appealing to the mob you guys flip flop whenever it suits you
Eli Barnes
Honestly I can understand getting mad that you don't have a say in the production of a series you helped create, but this movie doesn't even look bad. Granted I haven't watched the original series to gouge for comparison, but I was expecting something like Kino 2017 or the FLCL remakes. This movie looks pretty great visually. It definitely looks better than this pic I'm sorry to hear that although what did you mean by "Regular chad"
Gabriel White
Hoooly shit that sucks. Either I'm happy we're already getting a translation for 2 more novels.
Brody Ross
By secondaries on Sup Forums like you, maybe.
Ryan Cox
>I'm pretty sure it might be sarcasm. That's what I thought, but then the comments threw me off since they genuinely talk about the possibility of the director stepping down, as if that was implied to be a done deal. But then of course it's fucking 5ch/yaraon comments and they're no better than us.
Jayden Butler
i hope hes not that shallow as you anons make me believe
Easton Johnson
have you not seen his instagram for instance. Its just a douche who rides his motorbike all day and takes pictures of his food.
Nevermind that guy he is IRRELEVANT. His art is mediocre when he is at his best. Not in 10 lives would he do justice to the franchise like the 2000 anime did. Lets just hope the new anime is good... thats really what i m hoping for
Ian Moore
I hope you're just trying to be edgy. Natsume is a fantastic director and was pretty much the reason that OPM was a success in terms of animation.
Wyatt Cook
If Shikao Suga is not doing the OP or ED, it's trash
Juan Reyes
>there are actually people hipster enough to pretend like they're fans of the fucking Boogiepop LNs on Sup Forums
