>Played through Bloodborne, wanted to try another Souls game >Bought Dark Souls II SOTFS cuz it was cheap >so far up to Amana Shrine, 2nd bonfire >Sup Forums says DaS II is crap, yet the only bad part are some of the bosses >I like it almost as much as Bloodborne
So, Sup Forums, does that mean Bloodborne is overrated? Or are my tastes shit
Anthony Carter
I have no idea because I've never played Dank Souls, but I've finally gotten my head and my ass wired together well enough in Bloodborne to beat the Cleric Beast. I've farmed blood echoes near the beginning for a few extra levels, trying to proceed forward and just getting my ass kicked a bunch more. Any newfag tips?
Samuel Jenkins
>Sup Forums says DaS II is crap >Bought Dark Souls II SOTFS cuz it was cheap Well there is the difference.
Sup Forums hates B team made DaS II Not A team fixed DaS II SOTFS.
Wyatt Bell
It's only disliked by retards who wanted it to be literally identical to Dark Souls 1. It has a lot of shortcomings but is overall a really good game. There's a ton of depth and the character building is amazing, you can play it a dozen times with a different build each time and still be figuring out new tricks and secrets. Be glad you're playing the definitive version and not the buggy mess we had at launch.
>does that mean Bloodborne is overrated? Yes, because desperate Sonybros need to justify their $400 purchase. Though overall I prefer Bloodborne to Dark Souls 2.
Colton Torres
DS2 was good, Sup Forums usually has shit opinions about popular games.
Tyler Mitchell
>That Shrine of Armana level design
It was okay when Ash Lake was simple because that area was actually incredibly memorable for the music, leaping Hydra, Everlasting Dragon, and beautiful sea of Archtrees. The Shrine of Armana had... Nothing.
I did think the Demon of Song was spoopy tho
Benjamin Myers
Your first problem is listening to v and not playing for yourself. I enjoyed the DeS/DaS/BB series equally and am sad that it's over. Moral of the story play games you want to play don't avoid them because a shit place like v says so
Samuel Roberts
>play bloodborne first >pick up dark souls 1 to try it out today >it's really fuckin fun I hope it gets harder, though. Asylum Demon is a joke compared to Cleric Beast. Or maybe it's just easier because I've already played a Souls game?
Jackson Adams
DSII falls a little flat in its narrative, lore, NPCs, and level design. But otherwise it's a solid video game. Very solid considering it was stitched together in a year.
Cameron Williams
No, you've probably just got shit taste OP. Bloodborne is a god tier game, one of the best ever made. Dks2 isn't even a good game, much less a good souls game.
This has been discussed, proven, and concluded thousands of times on Sup Forums. Inconsistent level design, terrible graphics, nonsensical and almost non-existent story, shitty, reused bosses, and more bog the game down. It's trash.
Nolan Butler
Please help. :(
Eli Mitchell
Give us some deets man. Weapon? BL? Location? Have you taken on Gascoigne yet? What are you having trouble with?
Learning to parry makes the game a cakewalk in many regards, take time and practice on the two giants outside the central Yarnham lamp.
Angel Long
Which weapon did you pick? I will explain from there. I also presume you're still in Central Yharnam?
Matthew Campbell
>Dks2 isn't even a good game
How is it not?
>This has been discussed, proven, and concluded thousands of times on Sup Forums
Oh fuck off this is 0/10 fucking bait. Having participated in those threads no one can ever give a succinct response to the question of why and how DSII is a bad game. You know what's a bad game? Fucking Big Rigs. DSII is nowhere near Big Rigs.
Benjamin Stewart
Get the Axe, spam your held r2 until you get a hold of the game to the point where you dont die. Work on staggering enemies with your gun, you're going to need to get good at that. If you're sick of killing everyone to get past them, just run past them. If you're fast enough and dodge well, you'll make it out fine
Jayden Ramirez
Das2 is pretty fun
some famous youtuber made a shitty video and Sup Forums parrots it to this day
Dominic Baker
>asylum demon = cleric beast
hah no
Jaxson Gutierrez
I just compared them because they're both the first boss you fight. I assume I'm about to get my ass handed to me, then?
Jeremiah Morgan
>try to play SOTFS immediately after beating bloodborne >run out of stamina after a few swings >slow ass stamina regen >lots of downtime in fights >roll is useless >shitty hitboxes >a statue blocks your way >optional areas intended for higher levels with no indication at all that they are optional
Cameron Powell
I wouldnt say that, Tauras might give you no trouble but capra is going to fuck you six ways from sunday
Charles Gutierrez
Everything is going to be easy if you had played bloodborne first
Ryder Sanchez
forgot to add, im glad i pirated it
Camden Sullivan
>literally not like bloodborne at all
holy fuck
Parker Roberts
What are you talking about? The Base game isn't even changed aside from some enemy positions being moved around
Landon Perez
The more I play Dark Souls 3 the more fond memories I suddenly remember of 2.
Juan Morales
I liked 2 more than 3 honestly, I really fucking miss power stance.
Blake Wright
Yeah, bloodborne was actually good, maybe i shouldn't have expected it to be good and i would have enjoyed it
Xavier Gomez
>roll is useless >it's not hilariously broken like sidestepping so it's bad
>optional areas intended for higher levels with no indication at all that they are optional Is this a joke?
Charles Reed
It means Sup Forums is a contrarian shithole and you should never listen to it
Owen Hall
No bait at all faggot, thanks for completing ignoring the criticisms I made of the game. Let me spell it out for your vacuous brain, because you clearly lack insight. >Complete lack of consistent aesthetics throughout the game, only highlighted by the butchered lighting. Shaded Woods and Huntsman's Copse are notable offenders >retarded story, literally gives zero fucks about providing a cohesive and intriguing tale. There's a king and a Queen and the queen was a shard of Manus. That is the whole story. >reused bosses like ornstein, then shitty forgettable bosses, so many I honestly can't recall half of them >you need the four most powerful souls in the whole land to surpass a foot tall pile of rubble >game is outrageously ugly, did I mention how fucking ugly it is >weapon movesets and designs pale in comparison to trick weapons >tying fucking rolls to a goddamn stat >no notable NPC's or side quests
I'm not even gonna keep going because I have bloodborne booted up and would rather play that than hopelessly trying to prove to some retard that Dks2 is trash and shames the name of the series.
Gabriel Jenkins
A part of my stupid sonygger ass wished you were kidding when you compared Bloodborne to that filth. Then I realised i'm in Sup Forums. People will unironically think ds2 is better than... anything.
Daniel Turner
Sweet. Love a good challenge.
Aiden Hernandez
>>Complete lack of consistent aesthetics throughout the game, only highlighted by the butchered lighting >reused bosses like ornstein >you need the four most powerful souls in the whole land to surpass a foot tall pile of rubble These are the only things you said that aren't subjective, and two of them aren't even really bad things, just weird.
Gavin Fisher
To be honest I didn't even read them but you're right on some of it of course, I've always touted that DSII's world design sucks and is inconsistent as fuck. The graphics are whatever as fuck for sure. But DSII is still a solid video game despite all of that. It's absolutely solid, there is no disputing this whatsoever. I've played horrible video games, DSII is FAR and AWAY from horrible.
>retarded story, literally gives zero fucks about providing a cohesive and intriguing tale. There's a king and a Queen and the queen was a shard of Manus. That is the whole story.
The story was pretty alright actually, just needed better execution. A commentary on hollowing and how human desires will never be fulfilled. Again, execution needed work but what's there is pretty alright.
>reused bosses like ornstein, then shitty forgettable bosses, so many I honestly can't recall half of them
Yeah true.
>you need the four most powerful souls in the whole land to surpass a foot tall pile of rubble
Most def.
>game is outrageously ugly, did I mention how fucking ugly it is
I've played uglier to be honest.
>weapon movesets and designs pale in comparison to trick weapons
They're pretty alright. Powerstancing two anvils on sticks was boatloads of fun in the Belfry Luna.
>tying fucking rolls to a goddamn stat
Yep.
>no notable NPC's or side quests
Yep.
>Dks2 is trash
It really isn't. You know what's trash? The Dark Eye: The Chains Of Satinav. Fucking awful tripe that game is.
Kevin Clark
DS2 was pretty shit, but you should know that it's possible to enjoy bad games. Your taste is probably shit though because you're retarded enough to imply that Sup Forums is one person with one opinion.
Landon Jenkins
>literally gives zero fucks about providing a cohesive and intriguing tale
I think that's more on you being a complete retard. The entire story is spoonfed to you by the maiden in green and it still managed to fly over your head? That's some full blown retardation, especially if you're going to use that argument against DS2 while simultaneously talking Bloodborne up as if it's the magnum opus of this generation.
You're not even wrong on some of your points, like the game's ugliness or the shitty world design, but your knowledge of the game is surface level at best.
Ethan Johnson
Timing is everything. Since there's no punishment for dying take your time and practice dodging, parrying, etc. One at a time if the game is hard for you. Pick some mobs or boss and see how long you can survive by only dodging their shit. Couple minutes of this and things will probably fall into place for you.
Samuel Hall
>mfw Dark Souls 2 was a better game than Dark Souls 3
It may have better animation quality, but that's about it. Everything else is a complete mess of horrible decisions and mechanics. The completely unoriginal story, the invasion mechanics, the upgrade material farming (including for souls), the way it takes away your ashes in NG+, the absolute lack of changes in NG+, the GOD AWFUL weapon balance... I could go on.
