Wenter Lantern vs Jailer

>you are stuck in a corridor
>you can hear a Wenter Lantern in front of you
>you can hear a Jailer is behind you

Which way do you go?

winter lantern
they're cute

I'll go home.

Jailer because they spend 10 seconds puking and then they're dead before they can do anything else.

Jailer, because they're not very hard. If you sprint at them you can kill them before you even lose health, and they don't attack until their eyes turn red
Winter lantern i'd probably be dead before i got to it

Jailer, no question

Jailers because no poise lmao

>both see you
>health starts shrinking
>frenzy meter building

Jailor no question

The two would cancel each other out since frenzy is based on your maximum health.

The bitch with the brand.

They are only a threat in the huge mob

>first time agains the jailers
>thought the lanterns where just for show
>wonder why my hp is smaller than usual
>suddenly mob of them ambush me and im stuck with less than 100 HP

Never managed to meet the left yet.
The jailer on the other hand is a nut cruncher. Slow sloppy attack from its coil weapon, sure. Second attack suddenly traps you in this animation where he keeps branding you to the floor. Fucking bullshit

What does the left guy do? How horrible is it?

>What does the left guy do?
she sings.

>How horrible is it?
you literally get insta killed if she sees you.

It builds up your Frenzy just by looking at you, like the jailer. Basically, it's like those guys outside Cathedral of the Deep with their crazy Bleed build up, except Frenzy causes a shitload more damage.

Easily mitegated by wearing Djuras armor set

Really because even if i sprint at them at full speed theu alwaus get me.

>enemy on the left
>start fighting it
>kill it
>frenzy bar at half
>keeps filling and damages me
Is there any way to avoid that?

>you literally get insta killed if she sees you.

What. How?
As in I just walk in there then if she sees my character and sings there's sudden curse build up and i die or something like that?

Use Sedative

The less insight you have the less frenzy affects you.

*ring ring*

Oh nvm. So when the time comes, that singing mob will rape me. Got it

Winter lanterns are some of the most horse shit enemies in games ever

Jailers will only get you every once in a while with a dinker pin down

Shit, the memories
>walk into a curse fog with 10+ humanity
>all fine
>walk into a curse fog with 2 or less humanity
>mfw

hi

Just visceral their grab and you're invulnerable when the frenzy pops, if you have around 140 frenzy resist.

Humanity affects your curse build up in DS1?

>sudden curse build up
Sudden bleed buildup.

Gives you more resistance to curse, capping at 30

Jailers are so much easier to deal with. They can't even kill you unless you get hit by the brand like a retard.

DS3 really brought out the bitchfags

Yeah and then they grab you while you are drinking sedatives and fuck your shit up.

Just shoot them, retard.

Which one is DTF?

yeah no thanks I'd rather not take any chance whatsoever that something goes wrong and they actually connect on the grab

>What does the left guy do?
If it sees you it starts building up frenzy, which is like bleed but way worse since it does 80% of your max health no matter what.
>How horrible is it?
Since they have 360° vision and also have a grab that's usually a guaranteed kill if it gets you they're pretty bad. Best strategy is to just kill them ASAP, but even then frenzy can still get you.

The Winter Lantern is the spookiest enemy in Soulsborne. The main difference between these two in terms of damage is that the Winter Lantern can insta-kill you by simply looking at you.

Are the Winter Lanterns other Dolls, is the Doll a Winter Lantern, do the Winter Lanterns just dress up like the Doll or is the Doll dressed like a Winter Lantern?

Triggered

...

Not a single fucking autist here mentioning that this enemy type originated from demon's souls and not bloodborne.

Behind, and just press R1 a few times. Presto.

>that one game most people pretend they played for nerd cred

i wish i had not played it, it was terrible and i should have just waited for dark souls to come out i guess.

> Literally out of a dnd textbook

>try to rush a winter lantern
>get grabbed
>burst into treats right after from frenzy

>Dark Souls Kart: Fury Road will never be a real game

I don't think that's how it works user.

That's one of the reason why the resistance stat is so useless. Having humanity does the same job, and the other areas where the stat would be useful (poison, bleed) are either non-threatening or completely unavoidable even if you had high resistance but easily curable by easy to obtain items, such as walking in blighttown swamp, you'll get poisoned at some point anyway.

Demons souls is the best souls game

Play the fucking game and you'll find out

They are similar but not really the same type of enemy; both the Jailer and Winter Lantern have a virtually unavoidable status effect attack, Mind Flayers are just really fucking dangerous.
I mean, they are jailers too I guess, but that's as far as it goes.

Jailer's attack is avoidable. They need to activate their ability for it to work, and it doesn't work at all if you're behind them.

Jailers are more annoying, like they're more of a nuisance than a fight
Winter Lanterns pretty much mean sudden death.
It's like the difference between a small shark and a great white

Not a single fucking autist here reads the thread before shit posting

Why did they nerf wheel skeletons so hard in DaS3? You can literally walk past them as you chug an estus.

huh... would you look at that, I didn't figure out EXACTLY what was draining my health.
I guess that makes them closer to the Mind Flayer then, but I would still put Winter Lanterns on their own category.

Lantern
shes cute

>charge wenter
>don't get fucked by frenzy because not very smart. so low insight
>run past it
>get the fuck out of there

Winter Lantern
Bullet in the face as it tries to grab me.
Visceral
Ta da.

>You're in a poison swamp

>underwater
>it's an escort sidequest

...

This made me think of Kung pow kek

Those maggot fags always made me dread that part till I found out about using the torch.

>never knew you can staggershot their grabs
>I always just hammered them to death then sedatived real fast
>that one bridge in nightmare of mensis would have been 100x easier
I never bothered with stagger against most enemues since it was so unreliable what you could and couldn't stagger.
I just dodged more and used kirkhammer charges where I couldn't for stunlock.

> Timed underwater escort missions in a game with very limited ammo with bullet sponge enemies with AOE close range attacks the escorted rushes to fight at point blank, losing means restarting before a 10 minutes unskippable cutscene with a mandatory QTE in the middle of it, after which the game asks you if you would like to lower the difficulty

Jailers are ez as fuck
R1 spam them and they are dead in 2 seconds.

Is this a new meme? Why do all the shitty enemies get to be memes?

Dodge the burst.

Good luck.

Jailers are NOT hard, holy fuck what is wrong with you people?

Winter Lanterns are fucking bullshit, until you learn to parry properly.

DEJAVU

I want to see a game that does this in the tutorial after it tells you blatantly wrong commands for some actions and doesn't even mention others.
If you clear it, the game crashes on activation of the next savepoint. You can't skip using it because the next area of the tutorial is locked until you learn how to save.

...

A single jailer is a lot easier to deal with than a single lantern. They're obnoxious because there are a lot of them throughout the dungeon and the repeated health drain makes you waste Estus, but one of them by itself should never be a threat.

>People had trouble with mind flayers or jailers

DELETE THIS

Please explain the jailer mechanics
Does that fog they puke even fucking matter?
It's as if after they unleash the fog no matter if you are a mile away from it your health still starts draining

You mean like 95% of creatures from any sort of fantasy setting?

The puke has nothing to do with the health drain.

If the jailer's lantern turns red and he has line of sight to you then your health will drain.
Break line if sight to stop it, and if they're really giving you trouble then try using throwing daggers and shit

>black phantom flayer
>spiral staircase to the man-eaters
That was a horrible path to a very difficult boss when you didnt know how the game #future series) really worked.

Jailer is much easier to kill or bypass. Winter Lantern's have much higher relative HP and a powerful grab attack in addition to the frenzy.

Jailer, no doubt. Lantern is just bullshit.

Question:

Does the jailer can actually kill you by that distance effect that lowers your health bar?

Visceral attack her as frenzy activates

No, your health drops very low but it can't kill you. However with health that low, the jailer needs only to graze you and you're dead.

No. I managed to chill for a good thirty seconds in a room with the mob of jailers staring me down (they got stuck in the doorway). Then they unfucked themselves and mobbed me.

Thanks.
