Why does no one ever talk about the original Paper Mario anymore? Whenever people talk about the original Paper Mario games, Thousand Year Door gets all the fucking credit and attention, even for things this game did first.
It's not fair Sup Forums, it's just not. What did it do to deserve this?
64 and TYD are both great. What came after ate abominations. Doesn't look like it'd going to get better either.
Jacob Howard
That doesn't mean it should get credit for everything the series had, which a lot of people do.
Bentley Phillips
No it fucking isn't. Edgy, garbage, gimmicky game. I'll take Paper Mario's walking and childish charm over that filth.
Luis Morgan
Paper Mario released very late in the N64 era and TTYD was released in the middle of the gamecube era. Which one do you think is more relevant?
Noah Mitchell
>ttyd >edgy How is your first time on the internet sport?
Lucas Sanders
>late 2004 >middle of the gamecube era
William Gutierrez
>noose >right in the middle of a goddamn Mario game
But of course, children like being edgy. Racist Mario, drugs jokes, that dull shit.
Mason Miller
you're not even trying are you
Dominic Hernandez
Frankly, I'd like to see more effort out of you.
But you're too busy being assmad, I'm sure.
Jacob Cox
i'm not the user you replied to also, you started off with an angry tirade about how shitty and edgy TTYD was if anyone's mad, it's clearly you
Wyatt Ortiz
>he's this mad
Adrian Evans
sure thing, friend keep foaming at the mouth because you sperged out from seeing a noose in the first 5 minutes of gameplay and never gave the rest of the game a chance
Alexander Ross
I played it all the way through "The Shadow Queen," bucko.
Keep being mad because I insulted one of your childhood favorites.
Joseph Thomas
TTYD is like 64 but bigger. There are more combat mechanics(superguard, partner HP, stylish). The partners have more personality to them. The story is more complex, both for the main plot and the side-plots. It's easy to see why people would latch on to this one. 64 has a lot more charm, though. The writing, music, and even the mechanics have a simple and cozy feel to them.
Jaxson Green
People talk about PM all the time.
People also talk about TTYD all the time. Both games have been discussed to death at this point.
Ryder White
>played all the way through a game you didn't like to start with and thought was edgy just to prove you didn't like it
Zachary Morris
This, what the hell, Nintendo's people are completely out of ideas or are just creative trash.
No wonder they're making medical devices - they don't have the taste to correctly think outside the box.
Leo Ward
It's pretentious anti intellectual garbage
Ian Morales
>you didn't like to start with
Damn, I didn't know you were psychic. That's awesome. Too bad you suck at it. Was the noose jarring, sure, but IT'S PAPER FUCKING MARIO, I was hyped and ready for a cool game. But it just never delivered.
James Thompson
>even paper Mario threads are shit now
Damn, one of the few games Sup Forums ccould actually talk about. Anyone remember the fan game from 2011 or 12? Those were good threads
Jace Hill
You sound like a petulant kid user.
Adam Richardson
People didn't play Paper Mario before TTYD. They played TTYD first because they were too young when PM64 came out and heard that Paper Mario was good. Since TTYD is usually the only Paper Mario game they've ever played, they worship it without having any context.

It's the same thing that happened with smash.
The originals were great but rough around the edges at times.
The gamecube sequels took what made the originals great and expanded upon them with refined tweaks and added features.
Then Wii versions went off the rails and the series never attained the majesty of the gamecube era games.
Matthew Hughes
>It never delivered >Which is why I played through the entire thing
Sure man, whatever you say.
Nathaniel Brown
paper mario got lost in the mix of other n64 games while the thousand year door came during the era of "holy shit what do i play on this machine"
