I disagree with you on Civ V. I think its an excellent game for the end of a long day where you want to play strategy but don't feel up to making a hundred super crucial decisions in an hour like Crusader Kings. Is it just V you don't like or the whole Civilization Series?

Because there's always a major upgrade on the immediate, midterm and dist and horizon. Its not a very intensive game combat-wise so you're managing a culture more than anything else. There are a hundred different play styles and a lot of flexibility to your personal strategy. I get why you might not like it, I really do. I was fortunate enough to be running LAN games which makes any game more fun

The mechanics ARE well thought out, though. There are some shitty apsects like backstabs being a thing and being able to easily run past levels, but overall it mames good use of its small pool of moves and animates/balances enemy attacks in such a way where the high commitment for your attacks never feels like a hinderance. It only started becoming somewhat less true with DS3 where enemies are closer to Bloodborne levels of speed and aggression while you still have the slow as shit movement from the other Souls games.
