Wonderful 101 controls

This game would be twice as good with a weapon wheel or selection by triggers, yet no platinum fanboy wants to admit it. The game slows down to a crawl when you draw anyway, so the game wouldn't be easier, just more convenient

If it slows to a crawl that's your fault. It's easily possible to draw any weapon in less than a second.

but user, we don't want an easier game, but we'd sure like a more convenient one.

>weapon wheel
The wonder liner has far more uses than just making weapons, it's an essential tool for stunning enemies and building battery. Both sticks are spoken for already.

>selection by triggers
One trigger is block, one trigger is dodge, one trigger is an essential modifier to the wonder-liner, and the last trigger controls camera elevation. All the triggers are spoken for.

The "time slows down when I draw" modes are your babby practice modes for the real thing where there's no slow-down.

Git gud faggot.

Draw with the joystick not a pen, it takes like half a second

Play on 101% Hard then, time doesn't slow down when you draw lines in this difficulty mode.

>This game would be twice as good with a weapon wheel or selection by triggers

Oh is this the part where we prove one of the most outdated "criticisms" about this game again.

You have Hand, Sword, Gun, Whip, Hammer, Claw, Bomb, Boomerang, Naginata, Wonderful Forever, Platinum Forever, Drill, and Goggles, alongside the four sizes they're able to be summoned in sans the two Forever moves. Taking the single step of drawing a single shape then promptly pressing a button with the ease of the right stick being right above them is objectively more beneficial/convenient than having to meticulously cycle through an obtuse, lethargic wheel/trigger system until you finally hit what you want in the midst of battle.

But no, we have to put everything on buttons because apparently a shape that takes less than half a second with the Liner speed upgrade + speed upgrade 2 is too much for you when even a 5 year old should be capable of it.

>game slows down to a crawl when you draw anyway

The game goes into bullet time. The surrounding area slows down but your drawing speed is completely normalized, and even then this is completely removed in 101% Hard so you're proposing a garbage system that'd work even more schizophrenic on the highest difficulty.

Made me reply/10

Kill yourself. You are the uninformed casual cancer killing videogames and action games especially.

DANGERS COMIN'

LOOMING LARGE

AND WHOOO'S GONNA MAAAAKE A STAAAAND

ONE HUNDRED RANGERS

Wrong.

Draw with the right stick.

>tfw you bought Unite Charge waaaaay later than you should have.

>actually wanting a standardized, boring ass, unimaginative weapon wheel to replace an actually unique and effective mechanic

How boring of a person are you OP. Drawing out your unite forms is awesome and unlike anything else in any game I've ever played, and you want to replace that with the most commonly used weapon switching mechanic in action games ever?

Honestly that whole drawing system is one of the few things this generation that truly felt current gen.

The game only slows on easy mode. And drawing is a fun gimmick anyway.

is that not what he said?

>game only slows on easy mode

Never played the game confirmed

Anything but 101 is easy mode.

I can agree with that.

Git gud

Post yfw Hero Counter

This guy is correct. A weapon wheel just wouldn't be able to accommodate all of this, and we're not even bringing up the multi-unite function. If this game used a triggers or weapon wheels for weapon selection, the game wouldn't be as fast as it already is. The drawing mechanic is the whole selling point behind the game, and the story and abilities the characters have were designed to reflect this.

Is it time to share those combo videos again?

The game probably would have been good if half of it weren't bad minigames and variety sections on par with the underwater sections in DMC1

That's the one thing I really don't like about W101. It has such amazing combat, but the later half of the game becomes dedicated to a lot of minigames. Some are good, but most of them are bad, and it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't rank your score the same way it does for the regular gameplay. I mean, I've mastered the hell out of this game, beating it on 101% hard and then some, but the minigames are always a drag. I really wish the game had a feature where you could just fight in an arena and pick out the enemies you want in order to just go crazy and combo the shit out of them. The closest we have is Operation 101.

We can at least agree the Punch Out segments are god tier though right?

>This game would be twice as good with a weapon wheel or selection by triggers
No it wouldnt, because then you couldn't change the size of unite morphs. If it slows to a crawl its your fault, git gud faggot

>Using assist-morph whip to knock the enemy back and catching it with the claw shockwaves closing in

I cum buckets every time I see this, PhantomRes is on another level

of course

Yeah and somehow they are super long too.
That shit has been an issue since at least Bayonetta.
