I've been playing a lot of Guitar hero 3 lately. I got to lou's inferno on expert, and then i got a copy for pc and started playing custom maps. I somehow feel like i am completely stuck and not getting better. I have Warriors of Rock, but i feel like GH3 is way better. Suggestions?

>playing this at all when Phase Shift exists on PC
Learn hammer on/pull offs. Practice solos, if you can't really go past it cheese with starpower.
And learn alt strumming too,GH3 have a huge ass timing window. WoR is even more better when you import everything from past games, but that is a matter of taste.
Play 2, 3 is lame
Compared to every other RB and GH game, Warriors of Rock probably has the best timing window for notes. Import some shit into WoR and just practice
bumping for nostalgia's sake
>Import everything to WoR.
>Only boot up past games to play some shit that I can't import.
Shit is too comfy, shame that sold like shit and killed the series. Rockband Killed the genre by doing walls of DLC.
>custom maps
I cant import or buy songs anymore this is true pain i got the whole series on xbox the severs are down forever
Wii servers are alive and well....Rock band DLC servers too. Thats quite strange because pretty much everyone pirates the shit out of games. Maybe Someone could make a thread to play on dolphin.
It's a shame as well seeing that WoR probably had the tightest gameplay and a pretty good soundtrack as well
>Final boss is 3 Megadeth songs in a row, one written for the game
>2112 in it's entirety
>Black Widow of LaPorte
too fucking good
Is Live any good? Wanna get my plastic instrument fix in.
>Live.
No save your money.
>play campaign on hard
>difficulty curve is perfect
>suddenly raining blood
>mfw
i still haven't beaten the game because of that song
>Career on Expert
>Doing pretty well, four and five-starring songs without much difficulty
>Cult of Personality solo 2 comes in and fucks me in the ass repeatedly
>Stuck for 5 days
>that feeling when I finally pass it
Good times
Japan venue is pretty much casual filter, Knights of Cyndonia filter even more.
Raining blood and One filter the man from children. But seriously, GH 3 issue is overcharting. Charting only got better in GH Metallica.
See my pic i have every gh any other one is better because hace more and better songs
>used to play Rock Band/GH all the time
>Finally install Ph ase Shift and download all GH+RB songs
>Buy GH5 guitar off ebay
Why didn't I do this sooner?
Now I want to play the drums for it too but the RB drum sets' foot pedal is a piece of plastic shit that breaks stupid easy. Wish I still had my old Ion drum kit with the metal petal.
Define all songs.
RB have walls and walls of DLCs and GH have different charting in comparison to RB. But you could do even before with Frets on Fire.
I still play my games because sentimental values.
Every GH song, every RB song including the DLC songs. I think I have 1916 total songs downloaded. They are separated into folders so all the ones in a guitar hero folder are the chart from that game.
And I use a Beatles Rock Band skin because I think it looks the best, but you can skin it to look like any of the GH games as well.
This. Raining Blood and One are simpler on the actual instrument, in GH3 they make you play notes that don't exist.
>Rock Band killed the genre
You mean Guitar Hero killed the genre with too many games.
>Impulse
god-tier taste
very good song and super fun to play, not too hard but not too easy either, it's just about the sweet spot
You using Guitar Hero Control Panel? That shit is tight
>Rockband Killed the genre by doing walls of DLC.
Better than having a boxed copy every 3 months for 5 years.
Hey user, any chance you can tell me how to get all those songs? I would love that for real..
Both killed the genre.
GH got milked to death and RB overkilled the DLC store.
The games force you to a hybrid of rhythm and lead guitar. Unless the song only have one guitar you will never play a simple chart. Making charting simple will make the game boring and easy.
Game:
dwsk.co.uk
Skin:
dwsk.proboards.com
(Google "X phase shift skin" to find a skin to make it look like any of the games you want)
Rock Band Songs:
fretsonfire.net
You can find the Guitar Hero games on the same site. You will need an account to access that page. It's free.
The links there require you to use a batch downloader, I used JDownloader.
This honestly. I'd rather just buy the songs I like than sift through a handful of shitty sings to unlock good ones
One isn't even too bad, the only tough part of that song is Fast Solo A, and that's mostly tapping at the speed the game wants you to at that point.
>mfw GH Smash Hits charting
>Smash hits
Man, that was disappointing as fuck, the game lack a lot of songs and mixing is awful in some songs.
But charting in WT engine games is awful, aside GH Metallica, it got better on GH5/WoR engine.
>it's better because i say so!
GH3's engine is fucking dog shit, it's impossible to calibrate properly and it's sloppy as hell especially with hopos
If you're on PC I don't know why you wouldn't just play phase shift, it's a lot faster and easier to put customs into it
>try to play gh3 on pc
>expert
>get up to raining blood
>can't get past it because my keyboard is trash and can't press specific combinations of 3 keys at the same time
if only the hammer-ons weren't broken in GH1
it would be GOAT
>Keyboard.
Jesus fucking christ, i can barely play on medium with normal controllers. Why not just buy a cheap 360 guitar?
What's broken about them?
alt strumming is vital for expert songs
how do you cope on a keyboard?
Raining Blood doesn't even have that many 3-fret chords in it that I remember
If you're talking about the Mosh part, get faster fingers so you're not pressing multiple keys in the same moment
You're awesome man, have a bird
they just don't work sometimes
if you're serious about FCing songs, you can't rely on them at all
All the kiddos playing a childrens game.
Play with a real guitar, play rocksmith, like real men.
You have to play them like real guitar, have to hold lower note to hopo higher notes and have to do it in reverse to hopo higher to lower.
You play more or less like you would play hammer on/pull offs on real guitar.
Except the timing is shit and is better strum all the notes than trying hammer on/pull offs.
...
you have to strum most of them. i think they made the PO/HO window extremely small to the point where its near impossible to consistantly do
Somehow I don't think that's true
Did you play 2? Pre-GH3 gaytar queeros have much more strict hopo code, GH3 doesn't even check for a press on the fucking timing window and just checks if the button is already down
The way that HOPOs work in GH1 are completely different then the rest of the series.
Consider a hammer on pattern starting on green like this: G R Y
In the other games you would strum the green and then hit the other notes normally. In GH1, you would need to strum the green, then continue holding the green as you hit the red, then continue to hold the red as you hit the yellow. It's more realistic but it's 10x harder and makes tapping basically impossible.
this one is up there
youtube.com
A lot of stuff got dumbed down even in RB. The games also have dumb chords since GH3. Ho/Po got better after WT, but also got that purple notes.
>guitar her live
>£20 brand new, w/ guitar
what happened?
just look at the game it looks like shit and plays like shit
It's shit and relies on microtransactions.
>New guitar.
>Can only play on pre recorded backgrounds.
On top of not having proper songs on disk, is more or less a glorified spotify.
I got the black laporte achievement somehow, played the games few years after I stopped and took me just a bit to get back to being decent
also, is WoR just easy in general? Rockband 2 feels the hardest game, like I can't fucking do hammer ons on it it seems the game wants me to play faster than the notes, dunno how to explain it.
GH 3, Metallica, 5 and WoR feel much easier
that's not entirely true
microtransactions are an option, but not necessary
Just playing rivals mode I've accrued all the upgrades, and over 250 plays.
Considering you get coins for songs you finish when using your plays, I'll likely never run out.
RB Timing window is tighter, Hammer on/ pull offs even more.
GH got purple notes and more freedom on timing window. It's a matter of taste, Just like the charting.
I still prefer GH drum charting over RB ones, seriously, Why the fuck harmonix faggots never chart someting with proper double pedal support
Learn to play the real thing, cuck
Because their drums couldn't support double pedals without an adapter. Some of the RBN songs had double pedal support.
>Superstrat
who's the real cuck here, senpai
>some songs.
If I remember Bleed lack of dual pedal, well, at least is good to practice.
I am though
Can play shes lost control by joy division(yes I know its easy) but somehow can't play polly by nirvana because I always strum the wrong strings somehow, shit's hard but the song is so easy I just dont know, the joy division chords are in the first strings so I just strum it with no worries, on polly its in lower strings and I just cant strum them without touching the firsto nes
Thanks for this senpai
What is harder? TTFAF, Black Widow of Laport or Sudden Death?
>buying music
>buying music that you can't even listen to outside of the shitty video game
>buying anything
What's the point of anything then
>this shit was really popular in my middle school
>played every day after school, get extremely good and 100% most of the songs on expert on both 2,3 and world tour
>get a reputation as the best player in my school and play at people's birthdays and stuff
>quit the game
>fast forward 4 years to high school
>some other class set up GH3 in the middle of a break and I get called over by a friend
>there's like 40 people there
>"watch this guy, he's fucking amazing"
>i'm shitting my pants, select cliffs of dover on hard
>controller is completely different than what I was used to, hands are sweaty
>i'm absolute shit, fail first 3 minutes
>try again and fail after 2
>entire classroom is just silent
>I say something autistic and leave the classroom out of shame
my most traumatic experience in high school desu
On my last day of middle school, they had GH3 set up. A lot of people were huddled around it. I grabbed the controller, but then some girl took it from me. I got cucked hard. Stupid bitch. I was easily the best player there, too. I will never live out my middle school fantasy of FC'ing Raining Blood in front of my class. Stupid bitch. Fuck you, Marissa.
similar
one day in college they had rock band set up
nobody could play anything, couldn't even play drums on medium because they couldn't use the kick pedal
I did squeeze onto the chair and grab the sticks, but they picked say it ain't so on medium so I let someone else try to play it
I'm still angry about it when I'm reminded. That was my life in middle school. It was my one shot at glory. At least I'm the only person in my high schools history to have a 0% in gym. 2008 was the greatest year of my life.
I put FC vids on the jewtubez but it's just not the same
>had a GH3 tournament in high school
>tfw you pop star power during the solo with 4x when the other guy drops combo
>needle topples over to your side, entire auditorium screaming for you
I was pretty beta in high school but that was my crowning moment
I met my closest friend to this day over that tourney, we bonded over how much of a dudebro douchenozzle the guy who won the whole thing was
I never had that moment. I wasted my high school years watching Guitar Hero youtubers FC overcharted songs.
This guy knows.
GH2 is the best one
A lot of it comes down to natural talent OP. If you're not musically talented, at least when it comes to rhythm, then you'll most likely reach a plateau.
I was in the top 100 on the leaderboard for GH3 on PS3. Good times
1v1 me. I will expose you for the fraud that you really are.
Polly has a fair few quick changes if you're playing it the same way Kurt did, it's not the best song for a beginner. Other nirvana songs are easier.
