Since MOBAs are slowly dying and NEETs have destroyed the multiplayer survival games, what will the next big genre be?

> inb4 overwatch and/or other class shooters

now with overwatch's success and tf2's competitive's mode being implemented the class shooters are going to get HUGE
>inb4 activision annoucess call of heroes

I used to love league of legends and now I play Overwatch.

Overwatch genre is next. It's much easier to get into, has cool characters and sex appeal, has cool weapons and skins.

>mobas are dying

I can quit games a very happy man finally.

Overwatch

And good, MOBA's are shit

Battleborn is already dead, TF not even worth mentioning. Overwatch is 'being played very casually' and with the current model Blizzard isn't exactly draining any shekels out of the game.

>Overwatch genre
Class/Hero-Based shooters exist since 1996, kid

overwatch and/or other class shooters

yeah, but overwatch made it super popular now

Overwatch and other class shooters.

I mean
>David Jaffe's thing
>Quake Champions

I am also glad the MOBA fad is dying.

OW is the future.

yeah and overwatch will be the only popular game in that genre
just like mobas, lol dominated it and dota had a huge fanbase before which kept it afloat

AR mobile games, apparently
Hope you like casual shit

I feel overwatch is already boring, its not complex enough to gather competitive interest for long

Everything in the game screams that it was designed for casual play

Thats not actually happening though

The next big thing needs to be a team game as all games that got super popular, because normies always need the social aspect and it needs to be easy to learn, but hard to master

Overwatch is easy to learn and easy to master.
It gathers lots of players quickly, but they lose interest because its not complex enough in the end.

Something like fighting games and RTS is hard to learn AND hard to master.
And they also lack the social aspect that normies need.

Dota and LoL, despite the constant shitposting about "LeL mobas", are following the easy to learn hard to master scheme pretty well.

In my dreamworld M&B Bannerlords is dominating video games for years to come. A man can dream.

Figured I might as well ask here.
I've taken a real liking to Ana, she's very fun and she can be a real gamechanger, but a lot of people I've played with seem to dislike her.
Does a lot of shitters play her or something? I feel like I'm doing pretty good with her (Around 65% accuracy, some of which is just shooting at walls) and she works great in tandem with Lucio.

multiplayer survival games were never good

class shooters is just a different genre. people will get bored of overwatch eventually. just look at TF2.

I hope so user

Hey guys

Mobas aren't dying though. They're still the biggest genre by far. Also, multiplayer survival was never that big. I'm hoping the next big genre will be action MMOs like Planetside or(to a lesser degree) Star Citizen now that the tech is finally here.

I've seen 2-3 really good Ana's in 60+ and I can tell you it's all about the dart and the grenade.

60% accuracy is a must for basically every hero if you want to git gud btw.

None was good but they were popular but the likes of Dayz, Rust, 7Days to Die, etc... sold like hot shit. There was a time when literally every 1 survival game got released ( similar to MOBAs and MMOs at their peak).

I hope arena survival games like The Culling take off and have a "competitive" scene. If Hearthstone can have a competitive scene then why not those types of games?

I still think some "MMO" style genre like what Destiny tried will be the new thing.

I feel like mobas are both hard to learn and master, but mostly because you need to memorize pretty much the moveset of every character and what every item does before you can really enjoy the game without getting stomped by someone smurfing at this point. If I hadn't gotten into LoL in 2011 there's no fucking way I'd start now where I'd have to learn what over 400 abilities do from scratch

It's funny how popular LoL and Dota are when HotS is a much easier to learn moba

Pokemon Go and the inevitable ripoffs
it's already happening

>60% accuracy is a must
Gotta disagree with you there, cover fire is absolutely a thing, especially if you're using heroes with non-hitscan weapons

You misunderstand why Hearthstone has a competitive scene.

Blizzard is quite literally shilling a competitive scene for all their new games.

Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch.

The important thing is that the first two are incredibly casual and Hearthstone relies on more RNG than other perceived 'competitive' games. Blizzard is just using a competitive scene as a marketing tool rather than a community-based one where people are actually really competitive and passionate. Yes people can play it competitively but it's definitely going to be taken less seriously much like competitive coin flipping.

Overwatch is worse for being arena fps for casual babies

Nah man I grinded all my way from 50-65 the difference in damage output is absurd. Healing and Damage -especially Headshots- are way more on point in High ranked.

Well Hots is the easy to learn, easy to master thing.

And i believe a truly popular game needs to get the easy to learn, hard to master thing down to maintain interest

Pokemon GOverwatch
ARPG mobile shooter

Overwatch will never be as huge as mobas because it's so obvious you're shit at it when you miss shots. It's harder to blame others than in dota and LoL

I think both should exist because both overwatch and league/dota are good too

>enjoy MMO when it wasn't popular enough
>normies came
>leave the scene and join moba scene
>MMO games gets raped to death due to pandering to normies
>normies start pouring into MOBA
>leave the scene and join SRPG scene
>MOBA games gets raped to death due to pandering to normies
>normies start pouring into SRPG scene
>leave SRPG to play on emulator games
>SRPG starts going to shit
>hasn't completely gone to shit yet because normies still cant get into the slow-gameplay + japanese barrier yet

Emulators+SRPG is the anti-normie barrier it seems.

Is HotS still the same heroes picked every game in "competitive"?

I haven't kept up with anything since the monk was released.

>no scoreboard
>classes that dont even need aim and just decent positioning skills like winston, mercy or tjorb

Yeah no its way easier to hide that you are doing shit in overwatch.

In Dota your KDA and every other stat as well as the money you earned is in plain sight for your whole team.
Its way easier to identify who made you loose in Dota than it is in OW.
OW actively tries to hide that information from the team.

Pay-to-win augmented reality gang wars.

>m-muh hipsterism
fuck off

>someone takes it too literally
>brings a real gun

I think there's a pool of like 20-30 heroes that get picked

I disagree. KDA doesn't mean shit in dota when you can always convince yourself that you died because of your team, which everyone always does. Doesn't matter if your whole team tells you "dude you were the problem", people still delude themselves into thinking all the remaining 4 were. I don't know if you play dota but I started as a 3k player which is very average and climbed to 6k which is at the very top and over the years on my way the amount of people who actually admitted their fault and improved from there is laughably little. Even the Sup Forums general is filled with the moba denial as is Sup Forums. It's a genre where EVERYONE are blaming someone else. It's just too easy to do that

If you die in overwatch say, as McCree because you missed 5 shots in a row, you HAVE to understand that it was you who missed those shots. It's what alienates the truly huge masses from FPS games compared to mobas I think. As much as overwatch tries to ease this it's still an FPS game at its core

Whatever cyberpunk 2077 turns out to be. They'll try to replicate the success but they will fail.

>implying people avoid normalfags solely because their presence means things are popular

>current Dota 2 prize pool for the international
>$18,254,041
>Dying

It was more the mention of
>MOBA games gets raped to death due to pandering to normies
which is absolutely retarded. The 'moba games' have been casualized trash from the beginning and started from a decent mod that's as good as it ever was, balance wise better

This is true.

Every single "new" MOBA tries to ape LoL as closely as possible while staying the fuck away from the more complicated aspects present in DotA.

I cannot think of a single "new" MOBA that tries the DotA approach except for HoN, which was meant to be a 100% clone of DotA in the first place.

No user, no
If it gets popular, shitters will invade it.
And then the game will be casualized.
Can you see all the rage "dude bros" would have after the Calvary tutorial?

Evolve-like 1vX games
