First off, calling it Earthbound instead of Mother was your first mistake. Your second mistake was thinking that there is any way for that series to go in any direction when it's fucking creator and writer has said that the trilogy is the complete series.

The funny thing is that a Metroid fangame coming out this year has completely and utterly destroyed everything Nintendo has put out this year. From TMS, to Monster Hunter, and even Kirby. All of them are weak compared to the Metroid remake made by one guy on a small budget.

I'm still playing Xenoblade Chronicles, but it has most of its sidequests be sucktacular, and that there isn't enough landmarks in maps, but the rest of it is pretty good, and the level design is gorgeous.

I haven't played a lot of FE games, nor have I played Fates yet, and Awakening is trash imo, but FE7 and Radiant Dawn were pretty good imo.

They are not made by Nintendo. They are Nintendo-exclusive, but that doesn't mean Nintendo makes them.

The original Metroid 2 was a gameboy title, and it was pretty tedious. Alot of the hallways looked exactly the same, and the gameplay felt samey. The remake fixes that by making every room unique, adding landmarks to help you find your way, adding cool unlockables, adds a whole bunch of new gameplay dynamics, makes the enemies cooler and more fun to fight, and adds a bunch of new bosses. For example, the robotic Torizo in the image is completely exclusive to the remake.

And the best part is that there's almost no story whatsoever. If you're bored by games shoving a bunch of 10 minute cutscenes at you, or you didn't like Metroid Fusion's constant monologuing from Samus, this game gets rid of all of that and has it progress more like Super Metroid.

The full game hasn't come out yet, but it's had a demo out for years which constantly gets updated. That's why I'm so excited.

XCX has better quests imo, with Affinity Missions having some really entertaining stuff. You still get a lot of fetching and kill quests, as always with the genre, but XCX does a far better job of providing context to mix up the formula in the bigger quests (normal missions and affinity missions). The world is also honestly the best open-world environment I've ever seen, navigating its very vertical terrain is a lot of fun.

I don't get all this praise for XCX. Too casual (i can't believe people have actually died in this game, LOL). Environments look jagged and ugly, too much anime BS with Elma and Lin, too much disgusting sex fanservice with the skimpy outfits, the mech gameplay feels lazy, you don't even get them until 20 hours in, and overall it has too much story.

Nintendo didn't forget Earthbound, Itoi told the stories he wanted to and moved on. The series is over.
