Good podcast-tier games

So I have to listen to a lot of discussions and speeches and other audio and I like playing games on the side that don't require my undivided attention.

I found this works very well with turn-based, plot-light strategy games like Darkest Dungeon and Pokemon or games where I just need to grind without a lot of mechanical challenge like Path of Exile.

What else can you recommend in this regard, Sup Forums?

Have you given Euro Truck Simulator a go? It isn't too taxing that it distracts you from what you're listening to.

I can't really think of any games that would be suitable that aren't turn based.

There aren't actually a large variety of games that fit this criteria unfortunately. Even most of the casual type games still pretty much require you to look at the screen 100% of the time.

I guess pretty much any turn-based game and a lot of city builder type games fit the bill.

>I can't really think of any games that would be suitable that aren't turn based.

Any turn based strategy recommendations are fine too, I just don't want to run into games that have 10 minutes of dramatic dialogue in-between fights.

FTL

>Even most of the casual type games still pretty much require you to look at the screen 100% of the time.

That's fine though, as only my ears and brain are occupied. And even then I found I can just look at the second screen when there's nothing going on or during my turn for a moment.

What podcasts would you recommend me OP?

I found Hyrule Warriors to fit the bill nicely since I usually just spam a character's 2 best combos, not much to focus on

Fallout 3

I play grand strategy games for this and also i can mow down half the enemy team in CS GO without much attention. Mmos are also good for this once youve seen the story once

Specifically Civilization or Stellaris don't take much attention while you dominate the map over several days

Can't say I necessarily recommend any of these cause they all have some issues but they're pleasantly enough to listen to.

Surely this won't derail the thread

Any ARPG
Elona
Any Roguelike
MOBAs

>euro truck simulator
NO NO NO NO NO NO

YOU'RE ALWAYS STARING AT YOUR SATNAV TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE NOT A SIN GLE INCH OFF THE SPEED LIMIT

IF YOU MISS A TURN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REVERSE

FUCK IT

>complex real time action games
>games where one wrong dodge means perma-death
>competitive multiplayer games
>any of these good as side games

Uh.

MMO's

Whenever I go back to WoW or FFXIV, I pretty much always have something playing on my second screen. They're so mindless and easy, you don't even really have to look at the game half the time.

Check out the Monday Morning Podcast by Bill Burr.

Turn-based Rougelikes & Dungeon Crawlers generally fit that bill pretty well.

ARPGs become games that you just play with your brain offline after you've played enough of them.

Literally get gud

Roguelikes move at your pace
ARPGs (PoE, Diablo) and MOBAs hardly require any thought
You can dick around in non-ranked in any MOBA and do just fine, unless you're really that scared of making a couple of 12 year olds mad.

Grinding mats in monster hunter, most it involves in walking to the location and spamming A

Actually I just recently got a New 3DS. How much mechanical skill does MH take for someone who has never played any of these games, Generations in particular?

Aight, I like Bill Burr.

Settlers 2. Things generally move at a snail's pace.

The game is definitely not easy so expect to put in some time to learn how monsters and weapons work, there are lots of tutorial missions to ease you into this though.

god, just shut up.

Bloodborne chalice dungeons were perfect for this. I also tend to play EDF, Nobunaga's Ambition, Transformers Devestation challenge missions, Yakuza Ishin battle dungeon, basically anything grindy and skill-based, rather than story and immersion based.
I generally listen to The Procrastinator Podcast, Shinbangumi, Anigera and Deliraji

Borderlands. It is the only way that game is barable.
