Konami did try to make a Metal Gear game without Kojima once. It failed horribly.

What actions have we seen from Konami? Cancelling Silent Hills, removing P.T. so people can't even play it, firing Kojima while still plastering his name all over MGSV, heavy Metal Gear Solid pachinko advertising, heavy Castlevania pachinko advertising, and the best part of it all: absolutely nothing at E3.

Konami really needs to get their ass into gear, and no amount of apologizing or "it takes time to make games and pachinko deals" is going to matter. You can't slap PULL THE LEVER Castlevania pachinko advertisements all over video game websites and then act shocked when people think you are focusing on pachinko machines.
