Yeah, it's linear, and does it hurt it? Most definitely, but the story is good, which is, for the most part what I play FF for. Only exceptions being Duodecim, Curtain Call, and maybe XII.

Ironically numbers are more confusing, it seems games can only be graded from 7 to 10 nowadays.

I didn't like how the character I spent the most time on was moved out of 'main character' role.
It really just killed any more motivation to continue.

Tomato Adventure. It was made by Alphadream a couple of years earlier and is a spiritual predecessor to the M&L series in a lot of ways.

Unfortunately it never got an English release but it is getting an on-and-off fan translation, also it's a very easy game to get the hang of even without understanding the text or dialogue.

B/W had the same story a GBA romhack had years before it, plus the music in it was trash. Nothing redeemable when we consider the gameplay is miles better in x/y, even if everything else is shit.

Man, I love how about a year after infinite came out, everyone looked around and realized they had to stop liking infinite because they couldn't like something that everyone else liked. The game has 94 metacritic for fucks sake, which doesn't mean it's good by default, but the idea that the game is even mediocre is complete contrarianism and a meme.

I liked both

1 had story and world building, gameplay was a bit clunky but still pretty great regardless

2 had character building and gameplay but didn't progress the main plot, was still pretty hype

I had less fun with Jetters than with Generations overall. I thought Generations was alright but Jetters just felt watered-down from it. The terrible voice acting also didn't really help. The anime series it's based off of is cool though.
