Out of all these things what should I upgrade?

Out of all these things what should I upgrade?

GPU.

You have a shit CPU as well, but even an i3 equivalent is fine for most games.

i3 equivalent? The 8350 is a 8 core cpu though?

Ssd by far gave me a huge performance boost

Definitely the GPU, especially with that 144Hz monitor. I take it you play CS:GO, so you'll be wanting those >144FPS.

Also, a SSD for those loading times.

A SSD just loads things faster. That's not performance.

It performs about as well as a Skylake i3 in gaming.

Turns out that games don't really use more than 4 cores and AMD makes terrible CPUS.

gpu. a 1060 would be a nice upgrade.

cpu is fine and definitely not as important as gpu

RAAAAAAAAAAAAM

How do I install more RAM?

Not with an AMD cpu m8.

They don't get the boosts that an older intel chip will get from fast ram/overclock.

What's your budget, user?

>Turns out that games don't really use more than 4 cores
Yes they do. Almost all games released nowadays support up to 16 core multithreading.
>AMD makes terrible CPUS.
Now you're just shilling for Intel. AMD makes fine CPU's, but they have driver problems with their GPU's.

around 400$

Honestly, with an AMD board, an old GPU and slowish ram, you're better off just building a new computer.

In this order
Ram>cpu>gpu
If you gona be gaming I recomend you get an intel i5 something so youll need another mobo get one that supports 1300 mhz ram.

I meant to say 1300 or better.

1070

>idiots not realizing it's 1804MHz RAM frequency

Speccy doesn't show the 1. His RAM is fine.

what should i upgrade Sup Forums?

It's actually 1600hz but close

CPU and check your GPU fans.

Yea, this.

I was playing a game while I took this shot

some games are fucking shit at precacheing and an SSD does make them run better

get a 120+ hz monitor

Your gpu is bottlenecking the shit out of your rig senpai. Upgrade asap.

>AMD makes fine CPU
That are completely inferior to intel CPUs with 1ghz less core speed and half the cores.

Sure m7.

There's literally no reason to buy an 8350 over a 6100 if you're gaming.

Unless you need to heat your room.

>Speccy doesn't show the 1
You retard.

It shows the data rate.

What sort of performance are you getting from the 690s?

>AMD cpu

Can't be worth the heat/power.

Games aren't made to support 8 GPUS.

just download it nigga

Buy Radeon RX 480 and switch to windows 8.1
If you will like your gaming quality keep it. If not change CPU to i5 if you don't want to spend too much.

So does an i7 actually do anything for gaming atm with directx12 and vulkan around the corner? Would getting one be a huge leap over an i5?

>Buy Radeon RX 480 and switch to windows 8.1
What?
Why the fuck would he do that.

If he HAS to get off of Windows 7, even 10 is better than fucking 8.1.

And he has a "weaker" CPU, so his performance with the RX480 will be shit.

Those vaulted DX12 and Vulkan gains go away without a good CPU.

Mostly frame times and minimum frame rate.

You'll get more FPS with an i7, as benchmarks show, but it's usually not worth the extra 100 bucks.

If you have a 1070 and want to get a new monitor, is it okay to get a 2k that's at 60hz or does it pretty much need to be 144hz?

For a 1070, you either go 1080/144 of 1440/60.

my 8350 never goes about 25c. is this a meme

I recommended this my neighbour and today, he's freaking happy. He has the same CPU as OP.

Windows 10 is crap

Either you are lying or your thermometer isn't reporting correctly (which happens with AMD sometime).
Windows 8.1 is more crap. All the bullshit of 10 without any of the benefits.

Sandy Bridge will never be obsolete.

is using ssd as storage a thing now?

I'm planning to get 500 gb SSD myself. Keep my 120 gb ssd for system, 500 gb for games/ torrents etnc and usb HDD for movies and stuff

jelly?

Well, I have google fiber, so I don't keep much on the drive.

Anything super important goes on the external.

Why is gforce experience on the taskbar and not nvidia control panel?

...

Dat cpu bottleneck son. Dat slow ram.

Dat tiny HDD

I know, im upgrading pretty soon though. definitely going intel for CPU and a nice 16gb of ddr4. need an SSD for windows as well. but dang is this GPU nice

I'm gonna grab 2 of these when they release.

whats your monitor res and refresh rate? unless its 4K/60hz or 1440p/144hz you're a fucktard

"slow ram"

sigh

why not 4k/240hz

You need more RAM buddy.

Makes a difference with old CPUS and overclocks.

Doesn't exist.

Currently I have a core 2 duo e8400 and a gtx 260 and it is not enough anymore. I'm thinking about upgrading to i5 6500 and gtx 960. Is this a good idea? I'm on a budget and can't afford high end stuff.

This is my current thingy. I plan to upgrade GPU someday when games will stop working for me in Ultra settings.

I came with a different question though. Is it worth to have 4k or 144 hz as a monitor? Never experienced those.

get i3 6100 which is perfectly fine and put more money to 1060.

its 640x480 30hz

960 is shit

>I plan to upgrade GPU someday when games will stop working for me in Ultra settings.
AKA, you haven't played any new AAA game for like 2 years?

a work of art

Get either a RX480 or a 1060.

For instance Witcher 3 works flawless for me in ultra settings with 50+ fps. Playing it without hairworks and vegetation to very high instead of ultra so yeah... no reason yet when it looks practically the same as ultra settings. + I run graphic mods on it

user I completely believe you.

At 720p.

50 fps is the lowest usually btw. It reaches 80 fps easily

Why would you lie on the internet?

The 770 gets less than 25fps at those settings. One step lower vegetation isn't worth 60 fps.

I'm sure your 770 performs as well as a 970. Totally plausible.

Your problem. I said only truth. 1080p btw

You should call Nvidia.

They'd love to know how you tripled the performance of your card.

I believe I need a more powerful cpu because I play a lot of total war and arma games. And I don't really need 60 fps in every game, I'm used to playing in sub 30 at this point.

Try and at least swing for an RX480 4gb.

It's so much better than a 960 for not much more money.

Oh you're one of THOSE guys.

GPU then CPU.

Your CPU will hold back a good GPU, but a good CPU won't give you any noticeable short term gaming boost.

:D

No, I'm serious. AMD motherboards can sometimes have a weird temperature bug.

And also the chances of an 8350 staying under 30, under load is impossible.

Okay new build guys

My 8320 was a fucking heater with the stock cooler. I had to get a 212 to fucking cool it AND silence it because stock fan was shit and sounded like a plane engine. My next cpu will be Intel

>Not 4 Titan XPs
>No Xeon

poorfag

just fuck my shit up Sup Forums

Good for mincraft and surfing the net but not really hardcore enough for proper gaming .

>windows 10
>home edition
Can't beat that

AMD cpu and a meme card?

Congrats.

Reminder that if you don't overclock, you might as well play on a console.

I actually got my meme card about 4 months before the 1080 was announced and then with that whole scam with nvidia lying about the VRAM that kinda sorta pissed me off too.

I think the No.1 rule to building a PC is never believe anyone who says get an AMD Cpu, the graphic card is a different story. AMD Cpu's are absolute dogshit and not even worth the price/performance compared to intel cpus.

I win

I got my 8350 for 100 dollaroos at micro center cause of a sale so i said fuck spending 500 on an i7, and why the fuck would you shill their gpu's hahahahaha

Be honest doc, is it salvageable?

AH FORGOT PIC it's 5:30 AM leave me alone

Not true. OP here and i get 35-50 fps on my rig everything ultra except hairworks and vegetation on high

are you idling and still sitting at 65 C?

>all these sub 32gb computers
how do you even post here with that little ram?

CD. I mean you can't even write a disc with what you have now.

>4 video cards
>60gb ssd

nigga can you even fit windows on there?

I was just in the puzzle editor in Portal 2, I think calculating lighting makes my CPU literally shit itself, it's steadily going down right now to the temperature everything else is at.

>6300
I don't think so Tim.

Going higher with the GPU will just bottleneck.

You're going to need a new CPU with any 970+ performing GPU.

Look at all that non-gaming performance.

pretty much.
also helps that if you grab a i3-6100 you can upgrade it to something much better without changing mobo

for that screen, I'd say gpu is the biggest bottleneck. If you had a 60Hz screen I'd have said the storage.

your screen is trash and your whole rig is wasted on it.

whats the wattage of your power supply? And have you considered swapping to a dual gpu setup with gen 9 or 10?
