No, it was the buggiest piece of shit in the series, next to 2142's Titan mode.
BF2's only strength was having a handful of very standout total conversion mods that were not only much better but more fucking stable.
Of the original four Refractor engine BFs, only Vietnam was good on its own merits.

I'd sooner play Battlefield Heroes in its current state over BF2.

I remember my shitty family PC barely being able to run it.

FH1 was more flushed out basically EAs new patches fucked over the mods and the BF modding community died a lot think it was on purpose to drive the audience to buy booster packs and spinoffs

sniping in BF2 was so much fun.

The base game is actually pretty shit, and I say that despite loving it and playing it for years. The netcode was awful, jets and choppers were overpowered as fuck, gunplay was awful, most maps were crappy and nobody ever used commander to its full potential. Just constant artillery bombardments and base rape.

FH2 and PR on the other hand are some of the greatest things to ever exist, and would never have done so if BF2 hadn't been made.

I used to like this guy a couple of years ago, but now he is one of the perfect symbols of LP cancer. He shouts and screams and raises his voice every five seconds to try and increase the melodrama of his videos, and it fails, because Project Reality is a slow paced tactical game. No game has ever replaced the majesty of Battlefield 2 for me, but the one game that comes close in terms of fun is Splatoon. I mean it.

I liked BF4 but for some reason everything felt bigger in 2.
That sense of scale and the amount of effort it required to be a good squad, instead of nowadays where you have 3D spotting crap, it was really a labor of love just to be good at this game.
Grappling with the hit detection could be a pain in the ass sometimes and it effectively forced me to play Medic most of the time, but I never stopped having a blast.
