Today at 3:33 my playstation network account made a purchase of $19.99 for 2000 Neverwinter Zen. I never played the game before so this was a definite red flag. Now today when I go to login to PSN my account has been suspended. Just got off with support and talked with them. Apparently my account has been compromised.
Most likely due to my own poor security measures, but was wondered if anyone else was having this issue. Seems silly that Sony would let a transaction go through for a game that I never played.
worst of all they used the psn money that I recieved from my vita due to the false advertising claim shindig they had going.

Let me guess your password for your email abd psn were "gamer123"... get a 20 digit password and make it as random as possible.
Jayden Cox
Also why the hell dont you have 2 step verify for your account?
Matthew Rodriguez
this, make your password look like a hash and it will never get bruteforced. if you dont want 5^4fG54^*(hf^ as a password then atleast make it an original word you made up so you cant get dictionary attacked

>Getting hacked
How is that even possible? Been using the internet since the late 90's and I've never had any of my accounts compromised.
Aiden Thompson
This happened to me. When I got my account back the guy sent me an email saying "Give me back my account."
Nathan Wright
email is fine, the account is fucked though. pretty interesting. The password was also randomly generated. I should have had what said.
Lucas Gray
2step is god step. If they dont have your phone. They are cucked.
Also stop using credit cards for buying shit. Go get a giftcard from a bank. They usually have up to 200$ giftcards for visa electron.
Camden Sanchez
I never had a credit card on it, they just used $20 of sony cash I had on it.
Charles Wood
How does bruteforcing even work nowadays? Don't they usually make so that you can only put in a wrong password like 5-10 times until you get locked out?
Joshua Cooper
I suggest. Changing your email that is tied to your psn account. Make a fresh gmail and make some kind of a password that makes no sense like (gsj38jd83hkob8333jdh). Add 2step verification to your phone.
Henry Green
IU've always wondered...is that old xckd comic true--about passwords I mean? The comic where he says having at least 4 4-letter words as a password makes it almost impossible to crack or guess or something?

Just ask for a refund. I did it 5 years ago and got my money back. Sony cannot remove a game from ps3, so the game is still playable.
Ian Parker
He cannot prove he did not buy the game himself. They have a refund policy but it is really strict. The only way he can get a refund is if he downloaded the game but never played it.
Mason Cruz
i havent either actually even when psn got hacked my accnt was good.
Brody Young
Nice blog OP, sensationalism is more reddits forte. You should tell them about it. Gamefaqs too.
Lucas Rodriguez
>hacked >I had a keylogger on my PC and was also sharing the account with three of my friends
Wyatt Richardson
Because hackers usually look for credit card info. If you dont have it. They leave you alone.
Hudson Cook
Someone stole my PSN account a while back so I sent them a message asking for it back.

I refunded DoA5 with all dlc on ps3 just before ps4 version was released. I just told sony that tecmo koei didn't provide all dlc. It worked.
Ryder Hill
it would takes years to bruteforce a password like that, so pretty much yea. you need to avoid words in the dictionary since bruteforcers can use that to find your password faster.
