The picture is civilization 3 by the way.
League of Legends
Also the second Medieval total war. I havn't played the new Shogun yet though.
Shogun 2 suffers from lack of unit diversity but it's still one of the best Total War games. Probably the best vanilla TW game.
That geography triggers me.
this, and i wonder if the warhammer one is good.
Civ 3, the first AOE, or Empires Dawn of the Modern World.
Play the first Medieval. It's a better strategy game.
supreme commander
It's the first good Total War since Shogun 2
It's streamlined shit with the most jewish DLC of any TW game.
Am I the only one that likes Civ 3 better than 2 and 4?
That one.
she popped my rts cherry
Age of Wonders 3 and Dominions 4
Neither are ever talked in Sup Forums.
DOTA2
>she
2 was a fun part of my childhood so I still like it. 3 is really my favorite though. Rebalancing the game so that you could only have a handful of cities was a mistake.
C&C Generals: Zero Hour
(You)
That's the best. Fuck anybody who says 2 or 4 is better.
Mechanically the strategic aspect is the simplest it's ever been. Also, each individual faction only has little more than a dozen units in order to stay faithful to the tabletop.
On the plus side, each faction has completely unique units and you have things like magic, monsters and flying units which haven't been in a TW game before.
Red Alert 2
...
Napoleon: TW
Combat Mission: Black Sea
Graviteam Tactics
Call to Power > Civ 4 with mods > Civ 5 with mods > civ 3
Civ 3 was serious bullshit with the AI.
Call to power had ecological terrorist units that turned an enemy city into grassland
Do not fear if you see cybran on the battlefield.
Fear if you don't.
>civ 4 and civ 5
>"""mods"""
Go look at those glorious civ 2 and civ 3 mods. Maps were too small and cities were too few in civ 4 and 5 to capture the scale that a game like civilization demands. As a result, the mods were junk.
>Civ 5 > Civ 3
Please fucking kill yourself.
It's such a pity that 3 killed this. What went wrong?
>RTS is dead
Does Homm3 count?
If not, then starcraft(1 or 2, both are fine)
The expansion for Empire Earth was also rushed garbage.
Alpha Centauri and the expansion.
Also my top comfy game.
...
Doge Noseberg conquers the world
Attila was actually good though
Age of Empires 2, only game that has hooked me like that one is Europa Universalis IV.
Darkest Hour
Hearts of Iron III with "Black Ice" mod
Empire Total War with "A Proper Empire Terra Incognita" mod
Medieval Total War 2 with "Holy Roman Empire" mod
Master of Orion II
Axis vs Allies
Panzer Corps
Commander - The Great War
Anno 1602
Anno 1404: Venice
Citites: Skylines
Prison Architect
this
I really like Advanced Tactics Gold. Randomly generated wargame boards are pretty cool even if the ai is a bit lackluster.
oh and also this
Me too bro
>tfw repeatedly beating the "pros" on automatch
made shadowadda so mad the other day, he banned me on his twitch on the spot
Civ 3 was so bad. At least 2 and 4 are infinitely replayable.
>As a result, the mods were junk.
Yeah sure, except that Fall From Heaven 2 is not only better then any Civ 2 or 3 mod, it's better than any vanilla or modded Civ game and better then most fantasy 4x games.
Civ 3 is the only objectively non-shit vanilla Civ.
CK2
Victoria 2
DEFCON
And pic related Space Jew Simulator
In my oppinion civ2 is absolutely the best of them all. 3 was shit, 4 was watered down, civ 5 is casual heaven for dumbfucks. 2 strikes the right balance.
And colonization.
Come to think of it Sid Meier is an elder god of video games
>Victoria 2
How the fuck do I play this? I've been trying but it seems really hard and complex.
Also I have been playing as non-secondary powers or first powers in the game world which might change it up.

Anything made before 2000, I assume.
I never got into any strategy games, but I've been recently getting interested in Endless Legend. It feels very comfy somehow.
Its a meme, but just build and spam liquor factories. liquor is pretty much the only good that is always profitable due to its really high demand. You should research new railroads when they come out and build them as fast as possible since they give really good bonuses. Keep a conservative government with an economic policy of State capitalism to build up your industry, then later on like in the 80s or 90s switch to lazy fare. Capitalists are stupid in their choices when it comes to building factories, so build them yourself and create a baseline industry, then let the capitalists takeover with lazy fare as they get good bonuses to factory output. I personally build my armies 4 inf 1 dragoon 5 art.
mount & blade: warband
I just love the aesthetic so much.
Recommend me a slow paced, comfy strategy game where I can spend a while building a nice base in a deep forest, then gather some troops and expand. I mean something like:
>wc3
I love it, hate the aspect of flying units though, which always killed the fun for me
>AoE2
played the shit out of it. I like it a lot, but it had crap AI
>Anno 1701
comfyness over 9000 and slow paced, however it's more of a citybuilder and the combat aspect is basically nonexistant.
I meant 1404. Not 1701.
AoM?
Civ3 is pretty much shit vanilla. It becomes godly with Conquests.
>57 replies in
>nobody mentioned any of the dawn of war games
i'm almost tempted to say that CoH takes the cake for my favorite strategy game, but as a 40kid i can't pass up DoW
Banished?
Dwarf Fortress?
Rimworld?
I have literally NO clue wh DoW2 failed.
DoW1 was the shit but part two was so much bettter, yet noone plays it.
I love it to this day.
>google images dwarf fortress
holy christ that autism
Banished looks fucking nice though, thanks. I will check that out.
>never heard of Dwarf Fortress
Nigga what the fuck is this your first day here?
Why not going full city building? Pharaoh is really nice.
hows your first day, newfag
>implying its autistic at all after you get familiar with the interface
i don't believe it failed; i think it got around 80% of the sales DoW1 got
plus people used to play Retribution very actively back in 2011-2013, we even had people playing at a nigh-competitive level
heck, it still has like 100-200 people playing it now for last stand and other bullshit, even after 5 years
steel panthers - one of the finest wargames ever made
...
2 played more like an action-RPG with multiple heroes. Not to say there wasn't strategy involved but the focus felt... different.
Crusader kings 2 is shit, you have to have top tier autism to enjoy that game.
Star wars empire at war
Red alert 2
brood war
Settlers of catan (board game)
Halo wars (fite me)
Endless Legend is pretty comfy but I get bored of it very quickly, It always feels as if there's not enough to do.
>Citites: Skylines
is this considered a strategy game?
Just because you have the attention span of a 12 year old doesn't mean a game is shit.
Nigga CK2 is casual as fuck, how retarded are you?
Why? Im a medieval fag and considered buying it.
>yet noone plays it.
DoW2 didn't fail, and Retribution was the most popular Relic online game until CoH2 came out and had more players during it's prime time than any DoW1 expansion ever had, and there are still some people playing.
What did you do to get banned?
recently started playing Civ 5 and I love it, but I feel like I need something a bit deeper.
I know some of the other Civ games are a bit deeper and complicated, but I really want a game where I'm drowned in a micromanagement hell, I've played Dorf Fort for years now but I just want a strategy equivalent of that.
don't care weather it's turn based or real time
Don't listen to him, CK2 is great and anyone who likes medieval history will love it
Just remember, buy the game, pirate all the DLC
All of it
Oh come on.
DoW2 isn't bad about the no base building meme, it's because it's bad on everything else. The engagements are bullet sponges, they take shitton of damage, everyone runs from the fights, tiny squads, control point merry go round, no defensive strategies, few every thing, and the UI was ugly as sin.
The worst part was the downgrade in the ambience and voice acting because Relic wanted "a wider audience" with W40k and toned down the grimndark SEVERELY.
Took 2 expansions to become somewhat bearable after many balance patches
AND GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE.
Relic fucked up big time and they will never recover.
The most funny thing is that BFGothic has that w40k feel better than nuRelic and they're a tiny studio in baguettelands.
CoH2 is the same.
Also, if you compare CoH to DoW2 and to CoH2, they look somehow worse. Explosions, sounds and textures are shittier, and lightning is less crispy than Essence engine 1. Also much less physics than CoH1.
DoW2 is not a bad game, but it had everything to succeed and dropped the ball time and time again. Overall, it's just... mediocre. It's ok if you like it.
Tried Gal Civ 3?
>cybran
fucking traitor
>Post yfw sneaky Monkeylord rushes
>go to negative review section on steam
>it's a bad game bcus u have to have autism 2 play it bcus it's complicated
how to spot a good game if you're not a retard
>but I really want a game where I'm drowned in a micromanagement hell
Hearts of Iron 3
To End All Wars
Gary Grigsby's War in the East
The best RTS you could play are
Age of Empires 2
Homeworld 1 & 2
Company of Heroes
Supreme Commander FA
Starcraft
Dawn of War
Command & Conquer
Once you played the best, you can't go back to the rest.
conclave is shit tho
forever brood war
youtube.com
>tfw I'm to stupid to get this to work on new hardware/OS
its pretty fun
No Civ game is really complicated.
Autism Intensifies
>I LIKE SQUARES
>I LIKE TRIANGLES
>I LIKE CIRCLES
>I HATE SYMMETRY
>Overall, it's just... mediocre. It's ok if you like it.
I can make the same argument for DoW1 and CoH1 very easily too. But it's ok if you're nostalgia chugging faggot.
Always and forever
entry level != best
Conclave has some good stuff, the council mechanics are cool
But infamy and shattered retreat are terrible
Fuck off retard, it's really not that complicated
>The worst part was the downgrade in the ambience and voice acting because Relic wanted "a wider audience" with W40k and toned down the grimndark SEVERELY.
that's DoW3
DoW2 was plenty grimdark from what i saw; even if you don't feel so it isn't offensively bright/happy in nature like DoW3 is looking to be
otherwise i can't see why you would say there are no defensive strategies when you could effectively turtle on a victory point provided you were playing the engineer hero for which race you were using (spamming cannon turrets and regular turrets as IG was legit)
i suppose you're right about the rest in regards to tiny squads, bullet sponges and control point merry go round (though in my experience you'd achieve victory faster by just straight up brawling with your opponent and wiping out his units as opposed to playing victory point tag)
still trying to figure out what you're on about with the toned down voice acting when each unit has about 200% more voice lines than their counterparts in DoW1 though
