No, this is just the 80's.
These are synthwave, not vaporwave.
Tetris CD-I's soundtrack is the exact generic corporate late 80's/early 90's music that made Vaporwave famous, but if you say so.

Coming from a guy who listens to vaporwave all the goddamned time: Mall Quest is a piece of shit that isn't worth playing.
>twn be an HD bakshi level rotoscoped remake of Last Express
I've love a car game with vaporwave/synthwave sound track.
what the fuck is vaporwave?
Vaporwave, as a movement, is kind of too new for any games to have it as a theme just yet
Not that games made in the past don't have vaporwave-esque aspects, just that nothing exists as yet that will deliberately use that aesthetic
Give it some time user
Prey 2
Rez
Any games with Future Funk style?
Worlds is great. Quit trying send all these vaporwave fags there.
Too new? I've been listening to vaporwave, retrowave and synthwave for 2 years now.
Do you have any idea how long it takes to make a video game?
haven't heard this one in ages, still don't understand why they used CIA getting punched as a beat though
24 hours

Is this vaporwave?
Vaporwave is 4 years old dude
I do and that's the problem. it takes so long it's almost hilarious how much time is put into games for a very shiny nothing.
whatever it is, it's shit
not sure what future funk is but try jazz punk

Also maybe pic related
Floral Shoppe literally came out 5 years ago and the whole aesthetic was around a few years before that.
It's old hat by now, but for some reason there's always someone who gets super into it and thinks it's some really new cool thing and starts a thread about it
life is strange
Chopped and screwed popsongs or elevator music from the 80s and early 90s. The more soulless and corporate the better.
No Thing:

Crap! No one loves me
No, but its the kind of rad shit I came to see in this thread. Vaporwave is trash.
more like estrogen aesthetic
Weird I thought retrowave and synthwave were the same.
Desert Golfing
Although the dev insists it's normcore
Slight variations, same general feel and theme
i think we would be friends max. i enjoy your use of self-deprecation on the site, and the game looks decent. I'm at work now but might try and play your game some other time. Keep on keeping on you glorious nigga.
that's right
windows 95 screen saver
WOAH DANK
More like tumblr aesthetic
>Chopped and screwed
isn't that witch house?
vaporwave and synthwave are nothing alike
first spyro game had that sort of ambience.
I was playing Sonic CD and some of the stages and songs on the PAL version made me think of the vaporwave shit.
Jazz punk/experimental. I used to listen to all 4 soundtracks, it's good but odd and not the best to replay years later.
6 actually.
Lovely Planet
Tetris CDIs soundtrack is tight as shit
>OP admits he doesn't know what he's talking about and is going to be a huge cunt about it
Surprise, surprise.
LSD: Dream Simulator
Chopped and screwed is a style that's been around since the 90s, user. I'd even say before that. It's just a remixing technique, and vaporwave as a genre is largely a remix of safe, corporate music.
Okay, let me clarify then. Come on, guys, you're smart.
Yeah, you can make a shitty browser game like Depression Quest or whatever but, come on, that's not a game.
I'd argue it's older but still, it takes about 1 year minimum to make a good quality game; vaporwave hasn't been prominent enough for a lot of people to take notice for long enough for someone to 1. Come up with a game idea, 2. Decide to use vaporwave as a theme, 3. Successfully create and release game. The idea and concept phase alone can take a year.
I'm gonna get a lot of shit for this but No Man's Sky probably is inspired by vaporwave colour palettes. How ironic that it's soulless and full of broken promises. It's like a meta-vaporwave art piece.
Totally, but again, it's quite an undertaking to make a regular game, let alone a game specifically using an aesthetic themed on nostalgia and technological cynicism on a meta level.
I'm not saying it's not going to happen; it almost certainly will. Hell, there probably is something out there we've never heard of. I'm just saying we're not going to get a huge list at this point.
Emulator*
>it's still alive regardless
That's pretty impressive, famalam
>that's been around since the 90
I meant relative to the modern internet 'culture' genres.
who cares about that. it's becoming mainstream NOW.
No Man's Sky
That one user that's making that low poly fps
If you're interested in something, you should research it. You could learn some other cool stuff.
No Man's sky is just awful. Just play Elite Dangerous and play it in the background
I don't see vaporwave dying soon considering the huge amount of subgenres it has and the fact it's heavily based on the use of samples.
>game called Jazz Punk
>contains no jazz, no punk, and especially no jazz-punk
reeeeeee
youtube.com
Vaporwave is
>80s/90s computer shit
>platonic solids
>greco-roman architecture and sculpture
>smooth jazz
>80/90s synthesizers
>pastel colors (NOT neon)
>quaalude postprocessing
Shit memes for twats like this
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA nice one! :DD
poorly done
not really. you heard 80's influence in pop for a few years, but not anymore. loud ass reverb kicks, synth melodies, etc.
that 80's influence probably had nothing to do with vaporwave anyway.
I'm surprised lisa frank 420 is still a meme, and I'm also surprised non-meme vaporwave still exists. Post-vaporwave was my shit for a while.
>Drift Stage
its not quite vapourwave but its close
i think it has a good a e s t h e t i c of its own
Did someone say Future Punk?
Honestly what do you guys think of vaporwave?
I like the idea of it being referred to as an "art form" of a certain era because similar themes permeate lots of media
For example
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu actively satirizes Japanese pop idols and uses weird iconography and chiptune-esque computer sounds
The new Pokemon uses old (nostalgic) Pokemon like samples and gives them a new twist
Hell even Sup Forums culture is vaporwave in tone; it's like a cynical understanding/integration of technology and Japanese culture
That's future funk.
Gone Home
no (you)s for you, you sad sad little child
death's dynamic shroud.wmv saved vaporwave as far as I'm concerned.
That ought to do it.
>Fucking CD-I
>Thing was literally between 1200 & 2800 USD.
Good goddamn.
Team Fortress 2
>where in the world is carmen sandiego
topkek
I can dig the aesthetics but most of the music is very hit or miss for me, plus there are a bunch of subgenres to it that don't feel significant or useful.
>the music is very hit or miss
I agree with you there.
I feel like vaporwave is the manifestation of humanity's way of dealing with the realization of Metal Gear Solid 2's themes.
truth
No blended traditional insturmentation using other genres as a base in the same vein. kills it for me. I need more verity within the context of, 'vapor' media.
