I think it's the best in the franchise.
Ends with sequel bait though. Which is sad because sequel was supposed to be in Bastogne.

Yes. All the Brothers In Arms are on PC and good.

It's squad based like Republic Commando right?

I'll say I thought it was the worst of the three, mechanically.

It took a number of steps backwards, such as replacing commanding tanks in your squad with those derivable tank sections, squadmates reviving at checkpoints, and an awkward cover system.

I wasn't a big fan of the story either, since it seems they really tried to drive Baker's special pistol down our throats.

I will say I liked the new teams they added to the squad and the new characters were interesting. It's also very colorful and the visuals hold up well.

>squadmates reviving at checkpoints
they did that in the second game and if you failed enough it would suggest it in the first game

>Bastogne
>you'll never play Shelled To Pieces in a Fucking Hole in the Ground Simulator

it's not bad, but its not great.

It looks nice, but whereas the earlier entries were Brothers in Arms copying type shit while still keeping things quasi-realistic, Hell's highway does its own segueway and its not really that interesting, more annoying then anything. The story is slightly worse, they removed assault squads having the ability to charge/flank an opponent instead you just set up your two teams and sometimes can order them to grenade or blow up cover, but more often then not you have to have them spam suppression while you fl ank around. The forced solo sections are boring as shit and the tank sections have no real purpose since you can't really die so you're just basically going through linear levels clicking on turrets and tanks.

It's been some time since I played them, but I remember in EiB they would revive after the mission ended, but not after every checkpoint. Maybe it was dependent on the difficulty, but it definitely wasn't the same as HH.

there is a lot less emphasis on using your squads for kills unlike the first two games. in the third game you can do all the work yourself which might not as fun for some people.

tank sections in any game have always felt shit

It's the worst one but still pretty good

That webm sold me. Good shit.

you get a mg squad as well, shame the bazooka squad doesn't stay with you all the time

CoD2 was better than any of those 3 games.

and cod1+uo is better than cod2, so what

yes. More tactical than RC.

They're like Band of Brothers if it were a game. Intense and often somber, especially the third game's tone.

Cool. But it looks like the series is dead.

it is indeed

Its just a lot more boring in this one, like, even the sections come out of nowhere and have no real place, it was definitely handled better in the older games.

I just don't see the point of a squad shooter where you don't rely on the squad. Just felt like they gimped features for no real reason besides some mass appeal/casualization type shenanigans to get a bigger audience.

Jasper with a bazooka is the highlight of the game. Great webm. He is great with an MG too.

I disagree about it being the best. But it was fun. The story wasn't my thing. I wouldn't say it was awful or anything like that, it just didn't align with the previous storylines well. The destiny about the pistol was cut from the original game and it made the storyline stronger. It just focused on keeping your soldiers alive. And growing a bond. Hell's Highway was a game was about hallucinations and destiny and it bummed me out. It still had those elements of the original and it had great moments. It just felt like they were trying too hard with that pistol shit. And it felt like a little bit of retcon since it wasn't actually mentioned at all in game in the first 2.

I also was sad it didn't have Skirmish like the first two. I would love nothing more than to have a Bazooka team in Skirmish.

Also I might be the only one that feels this way. But I feel a nagging worry in the back of my mind about Gearbox making another Brothers in Arms. Minus Borderlands 1 and 2 (even though I thought 2 was shit), their games lately have been poorly received by everyone.

>Aliens: Colonial Marines
>Battleborn
>Duke Nukem

Didn't they actually try to make a "modern style" Brothers in Arms that they ended up canceling?

Will there ever be a decent current gen WW2 shooter? I've never thought I'd say this, but I miss it.

there was brothers in arms furious 4 which was thankfully cancelled and a mobile game i think

there's a few being made atm but they are mp games

No. Furious 4 (I think it was called) was the last main one and that was cancelled, thankfully. It was a goofy Gearbox "humor" game. There were some phone games too but I believe they're al garbage spinoffs.

The Brothers in Arms: The Furious 4 trailer was so universally slammed they cancelled the entire game. I think they reused that huge fucker from the trailer for Battleborn. I thought he might be cursed but then I realized Gearbox is just shit. I forgot about it. God it looked like such utter shit on top of the fact that it was destroying the reputation and leaching off of the success of Brothers in Arms.

Here is the trailer

Play Day of Infamy

i have been already, needs some new maps

I really want a remake of COD Carentan for it

Battalion 1944 looks good. It gets shit on by Sup Forums but I don't care. It has so many things I crave in a ww2 shooter.

You should also check out Day of Infamy on steam. Its out now I play it regularly. It really gives me a ww2 boner. Pic related.

Days of War is another one

>this is a multiplayer game not scripted AI characters

NWI did a good job when you can get players to lineup like that where it looks like NPCs

I really want to like games like Day of Infamy, Red Orchestra, SQUAD, and others, but the long ass respawn timer is a real turn off, especially when you die so many times to random bullets, or from places you don't even know where. I could be super tacti-cool, and take a bullet, feel like it's a waste of 20 minutes, to see nothing and then wait for 30 seconds or whatever to get back into the "action". It's frustrating to say the least.

Awww fuck. Days of War looks good. I haven't heard of that one. Many thanks, user. They even started the trailer with Edith Piaf. How did they know I love old French music and World War 2 shooters? Whoever made that trailer was selling it to me specifically

>there are people who want neo-Gearbox to make a Brothers in Arms sequel
Just leave it dead, it's better that way.

>visually the best of the series
>easiest difficulty by far
>you can somehow supress a tank with bullets
>the k98k is way too accurate and trivializes most encounters

If ya want more Brothers In Arms it's good, but there's a lot of things that kind of take away from the experience.

None of it really game breaking.

if you play this game without making use of cover and leaning, you will never enjoy it because of what you said. if you're getting shot from somewhere you aren't aware of, it's probably because you picked a bad position. all you need to do is take your time and be careful about where you're going/what you're looking at/where you're standing

I never knew I could get an erection from seeing a good BAR model.

>mocap actor is crawling with a g36 prop instead of a WWII gun

I am actually heartbroken we missed out on Italian forces stretch goal in the kickstarter.

It is if you've never played a single BiA, if not then stay clear, it's ugly as fuck and basically more of the same, the story made me feel diddly dick and the tank sections were meh, i'd rather command the damn thing to lay supression fire like in the previous title than ride it myself thru that boring section.

Better to be dead than reshaped into borderlands style game

maybe one day they'll add it in

Werent they going to do just that but decided to not to because of the negative backlash or was i having a horrible nightmare?

I think the "Medal of Honor: Street" aprils fools prank generated less hate than that.

If the game releases in that condition then only people that play stuff like Verdun will buy it.

can you give it a decent FoV?

Yeah, it's called Furious 4.

It wasn't totally cancelled, just reshaped into Blunderborn

The time of AAA WW2 games is over. But games like this will not draw the attention of major publishers.

Do the bigger dev teams suck up all of the animation talent in the business?

I don't care if it's set in ww2 but there should at least be more AAA shooters that are punishing in the same effect as old school ww2 shooters.

I have a feeling that BF1's success will re-vitalize WW2 and other historic shooter development in AAA companies.

I am not claiming they will be good though, they also may be revisionized casual crap.

I wish we could get another game or two with that dark, almost sinister at times vibe.

MOH and MOHU are criminally underrated nowadays. I also find it odd how Sup Forums thinks Frontline is the best shit ever when its simply reycled maps from those two games and objectively inferior MOAHA invasion level.
